Have these for work on the ambulance when it rains/snows. Hard to beat the traction and they took over easily from 5.11. I run them slightly loose with bigger laces and knots after the holes to keep them the same. Eliminates the need for one of the first problems you mentioned.

@ambulancepoet interesting, thanks. Yes it's hard to beat the traction of merrell. Ugh..... that dang squeak I created is terrible.

I have had a couple of pairs of Merrell Moabs, sole grip has never been great, quite slippery, and the upper comes away from the sole too easily after 12-18 months. Waterproofness fails also. I suppose they're entry level, but I'd expect a bit more for the money. They are comfortable though, and look good.

@thelmaviaduct Most of my boots last 12-18 months. My kenetrek are specially used for elk hunting. My justin boots are mainly for yard work, I had them for 10 years.

@KenHicksJr I've just bought some cheap waterproof boots for £23 in the sale to replace the £100 Moabs. Will see how they get on. 👍🏿

I hear a lot of bad experiences people had with Merrell, i thought about buying but i don't think i will anymore. They cost as much as a pair of Salomon so i rather go for that. Merrells are confortable but i want a pair of shoes that last a long time as well. All i have now is Salomon and La Sportiva, no issues with them at all yet. As for the smell, i don't put my shoes in the freezer, lol, i just use a spray that kills the bacteria. LOOOOL

@Jack_The_Ripper_Here lol, yeah. The freezer is last resort. My Salomon hiking shoes are on their last legs. When they went on sale I bought 2 pairs because the first ones were so good.

@@KenHicksJr A bit stiff the first week but now they are very comfy and they got GTX. Not as high as the boots you show and of you want tall ones look att the Salomon Quest High ones they are also awesome. Used by military too.
@KenHicksJrАй бұрын
@PrepperTankar I used to backpack a good bit. The best hiking shoe I've ever had is Salomon. I ended up buying 2 extra pairs in case they got discontinued. I hunt colorado and the lower part of WV. I prefer the higher support climbing mountains.
@PrepperTankarАй бұрын
@ I would look at Salomon Quest Tracker Hight GTX then.

@@KenHicksJr The Salomon Quest 4D Forces 2 High GTX boots are also good.

Merrell’s are ok, the fabric lining in them starts stinking pretty quickly in my opinion. They’re too hot for summer time, they’re pretty waterproof, they last a decent amount of time and wear for being mostly fabric. I had the tan pair and I ripped them while building a deck but I was wearing them for a few months beforehand so to me they’re ok. I wouldn’t recommend them.
@KenHicksJrАй бұрын
@@NDB469 I understand what you're saying. Oh god, I hope they don't stink within 6 months. I'll give them a 1 star review
