I am still using my NETGEAR Nighthawk M1 Gigabit LTE Mobile Router and find that it is a lot better then the two older mobile hotspot/routers that I've used from my carrier. One of my favourite features of it is the ability to use it without the battery inside and have it powered by the USB-C power adapter.

In terms of whether this device will work with a Verizon SIM card, I'm in Canada and not familiar with the Verizon carrier in the US beyond the fact that they only allow certain devices on to use their network (i.e. I don't believe one can take an unlocked AT&T iPhone and use it on Verizon; it must be an iPhone specifically made for the Verizon network).

Thank you picwu for taking the time to watch my video and post your comment/question. Regarding your question, I purchased mine unlocked from Amazon. Since it works with most carriers that use SIM cards provided that the 3G/4G/LTE bands are supported by that carrier, there was no SIM card included. I'm not sure what carrier SIM card, NETGEAR (or Amazon) would include for their unlocked device since I purchased this particular product to use with Fido (in Canada) but someone else might purchase it to use it with T-Mobile (in the US) or another carrier.

Does not. I just ordered a Nighthawk M1 myself. Got a $50/month unlimited data SIM Card from ebay.

Taking a look at the RSSI and RSCP values with the antenna plugged in as well as the antenna unplugged, the speed difference would be negligible (at least with the antenna that I'm using). Also, when doing a speed test, you can get different results without having changed anything which makes it hard to actually determine whether the antenna (or the external antenna that I use) made any actual difference.

Thank you Alexander Barreto for taking the time to watch my video and post your question. It can't connect to "any" open WiFi. The open WiFi must not launch a webpage in order to access the internet. I believe that the device can connect to WiFi networks that use no encryption, consumer level WPA/WPA2 and WPA2-PSK to offload data bandwidth so you aren't consuming your carrier's data which is generally more expensive. When I've connected the device to my parent's wireless router via WiFi to offload data, I've never had any IP address conflict or IP problems

@@lmcjipo6125 Have you ever tried connecting to say a hotel that does have the second login page? Logically it should work, when you open your browser you are connected right to the hotel and your browser will redirect you to the login page.

I've never tried this and given the current COVID-19 situation, I have no plans on travelling any time soon so I probably won't be able to definitively answer your question. I have connected to WiFi networks to offload my cellular data usage that were completely open and didn't require a webpage login/agreement. I've also done it with a WPA2-PSK wireless network since when setting this up, NETGEAR Nighthawk M1 configuration page will allow you to enter the WPA2-PSK password for the router that you are or will be using to offload the cellular data. That being said, I don't believe that the NETGEAR Nighthawk M1's configuration page for data offloading allows it to open up a browser within the setup screen to accept the terms from a webpage or enter the password onto a webpage.

My video title is using what the manufacturer (Netgear) labels this product on their box but you are correct that this device is in fact a modem which connects to the cellular network and shares the data package/plan from your cellular network's SIM card to any WiFi device which connects to it.

Works with any celluar plan. Best is an AT&T one. On ebay it's $49.99 a month for unlimited data. I have TMobile for cell phones but the router work perfectly with an AT&T SIM.
