My thoughts on Total Drama Island Reboot SEASON 2

Here are my current thoughts on Season 2 of Total Drama Island, with a ranking of all the episodes so you know which ones are good and which ones are... not so good...

Would of been nice to see a Julia V Damien V Wayne finale. Think that would of satisfied a lot of people. I think having Caleb go 4th just makes sense. He’d get the girl, and he’d leave maybe bc Julia plays the idol or something. Don’t get me wrong he’s a fine character. Personally I’d give him like a 5/10. Just right in the middle, but still don’t think he should of been a finalist tho.

Damien and MK were robbed hard

D-Man I have the same bottom 3 as you. Those episodes dropped without Zee, MK and Damien. Keeping Priya over all of them is a crime, ok maybe not Zee but Damien and MK realistically should’ve been the finale. The reason I absolutely hate Episode 10 and it’s a top 5 worst episode for me is the whole second half and how every character is just completely stupid even Chris. The overall challenge was absolutely terrible it wasn’t funny seeing them get hurt like that and Damien just gets flown out by bees like wtf. They tease us with a potential Damien and Julia rivalry only to f**k it up immediately to put the stupid Prileb storyline which nobody cares about ahead of it, Caleb was stupid, Priya was insufferable, Wayne and Raj were stupid. It’s the fact that no one even got to see Damien off, that is the cherry ontop and how we don’t even get to see how Julia knew/got the idol it’s more offscreen bs which drags Julia down as a villain, don’t get me wrong she’s still top 3 villains.

My main criticism: Julia's didn't win, and the show would have never given her the chance to win because she's a villain, and for some reason the villain can never win in this show, which takes away any kind of suspense when it comes down to a finale with a hero and a villain. It just makes the entire show extremely predictable. They have to at least have a villain win sometimes so it becomes harder to predict who's going to win, because I knew immediately that Wayne was going to win because he was the nicest person out of the three. (Also MK and Julia didn't kiss I know that they hugged and it was adorable but I wanted them to kiss maybe they will in season 3 but how dare they make me wait and they better kiss in season 3 or at least officially get together or else I'll be so mad 😡😡😡😡😡)

Yeah, i agree it would be interesting and more suspenseful for a villain to win every once and a while but personally, I'm really glad Julia didn't win

@user-cg5sr5we7t Heather, by the end of World Tour, wasn't villain of the season with the inclusion Alejandro; the characters even acknowledged it in the finale, and even if she were considered a villain she lost the money immediately after, so she didn't really "win" in that ending either. Duncan, as you said, is barely a villain. And in Revenge of the Island it's implied that Cameron is the canon winner.

I get that Prileb was the main (straight) romance this season but I definitely feel like Priya should have left earlier than she did. It really did quickly feel like her plotline was given artificial extension/life support because I guess Fresh TV didn't know who else to make Julia's big rival be. And yeah while I like Julia, Fresh TV really has lost their touch with writing antagonists since World Tour IMHO.

The final batch of episodes was really disappointing, but to be honest Episode 12 and 13 were pretty good even with the bad choice of characters (In my opinion at least).

Honestly, I don't like Julia either. She wasn't even a good antagonist, she just won off of her plot armor. And Damien was so robbed. He should have stayed longer.

I feel like Priya placing 4th is insane. I would’ve been okay with her being 6th place, because they already made up and it would be able to give focus to the hockey bros and Damien. In fact, if Wayne won and Priya left 6th, I would’ve been way happier because the dude would at least get more screen time beforehand to make me feel like he deserved it. But Damien just had all that winner energy, and his rivalry with Julia gave me hope, but nope. Priya gets to have a spotlight in every episode, AGAIN. Also, I really love the first and second episode. They were really good setups for the rest of the season, and I liked how each episode they gave a character a mini arc that made sense for them, while also giving them a reason to go home. People like Lauren, Chase, Millie, and, basically everyone premerge.

My personal remarks for the characters and their performances during S2 compared to previously: - Scary Girl: She sucks. Again she's just a gimmicky character who had less screen time than before. Nothing much more to say really. - Chase: His breakup with Emma was really rushed and his whole elimination was rushed. Emma just decides to take revenge on him by distracting him? While Chase was always a narcissist, the season just didn't give him any good interactions unlike last time. His performance in episode 2 just felt like a way to eliminate Chase quickly, which is a common problem in this show. - Millie: I don't get why she returned, her character arc ended fine last season. Still I liked it when the team resented her for intentionally nearly killing her teammate to win the challenge. Personally, she should've gone further in the game. - Emma: Can't say much she barely did anything notable. Her elimination made little sense. - Nichelle: Hate her this season. She was already uninteresting in season 1, but she just became a Mary Sue here. And did I mention her arrogance in so many episodes and the groanworthy insults towards Hollywood? I was genuinely annoyed by her. - Bowie: I like that this season actually gave his relationship with Raj some flaws, and that he works with MK and Julia for the best for his team. First good character that wasn't derailed so far. - Axel: Mostly uninteresting in the beginning and just endlessly made out with Ripper. Nothing more to say. Only improvement was her screentime. - Ripper: He had potential on exploring his insecurities but it was wasted for making out with Axel. - Zee: Still entertaining but his main purpose is to be a middleman between Priya and Caleb. Still better than just being a comic relief character. - MK: The most deserving contestant of winning the money in the cast this season. Her strategies were good, she encountered struggles, had neat interactions with her team. Her elimination was awful as it just served as an example as to how much plot armour Julia had. - Damien: Simply uninteresting. First few episodes, basically screamed the whole way. Then he gains confidence by winning against Bowie but it goes nowhere. He finds an immunity idol which serves no plot relevance and felt undeserved. - Raj: I liked his relations with Bowie, but after his elimination he was reduced to being a comic relief character. - Priya: I don't mind her descent to insanity through competition, but the pacing of her Prileb plot was really weird and intrusive. I liked seeing a more distrusting, dislikeable side instead of the skilled TD training maniac from last season. - Caleb: Hate him. He barely got comeuppance for his bad actions and his relationship with Priya felt badly executed and inconsistent. He's also a hypocrite who cries about how he's an honest saint, despite him not confessing his true feelings earlier. - Julia: Could've been a good antagonist but her plot armour was way too much. Unlike MK, she never experienced bad luck with her strategies and was only targeted at the end of the season despite being Bowie's ally in S1. - Wayne: Nothing more than a comic relief character who serves no actual plot relevance.

Honestly at this point, with the way Total Drama has been going, I'll just stick with Disventure Camp.

Absolutely! Disventure Camp is much better than Total Drama in every way. Probably because it's aimed at an older audience, while Total Drama is made with a younger audience in mind.

I've only seen the Beta Disventure Camp but I remember it being pretty good so I might check out the other seasons eventually but yeah Total Drama is typically aimed at a younger audience. I know for my fan seasons though that I try and aim for a slightly older audience since those are the people who I assume watch my fan seasons.
