I found you through Neemors World. Really good! I'm from Minnesota so I'm researching a bag or quilt for freezing and sub freezing temps. Not sure if a quilt will work in this state but I'll check it out. Thank you!

Thanks for the great video, Darwin. At what temperature do you find the quilt is too hot to have over you even when opened up?

I dig the gear Darwin! I've been contemplating a lot about getting that Snowpeak mug but already have a larger one. It's funny we picked the same type of gear. My video will be up in a bit. Hopefully we can get out and hike some time. Andy

get the snowpeak..the larger one will sit and collect dust if you do..lol i have larger ones but when solo the snowpeak 700 is perfect size..not too little and not to large..and if you ditch the lid its only 3.5 ounces rather than 4.6 and use a piece of foil instead.

+matanuska high I really would like it but it's kind of expensive for the amount of ounces that I save. Plus climbing gear is expensive which I've been doing. Haha.
@MatanuskaHIGH

+Andy Timinsky haha i know brother it aint cheap..i was huge into climbing about 10 years ago..recently i busted out all my gear and thinking of either using it or getting rid of it then i found a new non profit climbing wall a few miles away that is supposely the nicest in the state so now im thinking of getting back into it..although not sure how into it i will get i have everything from trad gear sport gear and ice gear and enough for me and another person. it was a bad habit back in the day..a set of nuts ,cams,ice screws,webbing,pitons ,picks,pickets,snow,anchors,biners crampons etc i have probably over $3K invested.. probably more..but we dont tell my old lady that..lol the petzel ice picks alone are over 600$ for the set at the time..lol yeah i know how expensive climbing can be . i feel you bro...and that was 10+ years ago..i havent even tried to price climbing gear now. reminds me i need to price webbing for quickdraws for replacement. haha

Great vid as usual. I'm "all in" on the quilt and especially the EE Revelation 20deg. Already have one ready to go in my cart... just need to pull the trigger on purchase for a Grand Canyon hike this fall. Quick question though.. HOW compressible is it? I know they're right around the 20oz mark (give or take depending on options).. It comes with a compression sack, but I'm planning on picking up a Sea-to-Summit Ultra Sil compression sack and not sure on the sizing. Any thoughts?
@DarwinOnthetrail
@DarwinOnthetrail 8 жыл бұрын
It's super compressible! I stuff mine in the Zpacks Sleeping Bag stuff sack, weighs virtually nothing & is waterproof. I'm actually about to do a full on "Post AT" gear review on my EE quilt. Keep an Eye out for it within the next week! Thanks for Watching! Hike On, Darwin

Nice! I envy your production value, and good choices and discussion why. I had that same pot! I loved it too, but then a good friend of mine needed a pot, so I gave it to them. I have two other ti pots now that serve me just as well. Peace and happy trails to you!

Serious question: Pack out the paper, leave the poop, yes? I would think that the Black roll doggie bags would work great for packing out the paper. Just pick up and turn inside out and tie, like what's done w a dog. Place in a medium heavy duty ziplock, yes? And toss at nearest trash can. No one has done a video on packing out paper, just sayin'.

Paul Barnett yeah i always wonder why people use abbreviations for really important words in a sentence... espcially when making a global video...only a few people actually know what those abbreviations mean, it is like using code or slang. 😕 anyone young/new to an activity will have no idea what is being said.
