I’ve read your top 2! I read Boudicca because you and Sarah raved so hard about it (and you were right!)

We are spreading the good word. We both just finished the second book too, which is also great!

Really want to read the Boudica books. You and Sarah have totally sold them. Great list Aaron. Hope you have a Happy New Years 🎉🎉🎉

Two of my favorites on this list, the Trollope and Gaskell which I reread this year and loved all over again! Going to get to the Blue Book of Nesbo and the Zweig eventually!
@AaronReadABook3 күн бұрын
Blue Blue of Nebo would be a rare science fiction for you! As it is post-apocalyptic, although it doesn't feel very SF so I; 'm sure you'll like it.

Adding The Trouble with Mrs Montgomery Hurst to my future reading!! Loved hearing about all your favorites!

Love seeing #8 and #1 on another top ten! #6 entertained me thoroughly during a flight a couple of years ago. I’m at a much earlier part of the series than your chunkster. What a great mix of classics and newer fiction!

Yes it was good seeing Nebo on another list, that one deserves more attention!

Yes -how good was I Who Have Never Known Men!! I can’t wait to reread it. Enjoyed seeing your faves of the year!
@AaronReadABook3 күн бұрын
I was so confused by it not being a well known classic and being that good, so I'm glad other people are loving it too!

I recently hauled Boudica and now am really excited about it! I Who Have Never Known Men is phenomenal.
@AaronReadABook3 күн бұрын
I do think you will like it, it's a lot less weird than the other one you were reading. I usually hate dreams and mysticism but it works in this celtic setting and its done sparingly.

Chess Story sounds good! Aww man! I loved Nebo but I thought you were going to say The Blue Tent which is my ultimate fave! 🎉 I loved Katie’s first book and am nervous about her second but I know I shouldn’t be. I already own it so just need to get to it.
@AaronReadABook3 күн бұрын
Well if its blue and Welsh I might check that out this comming year for Dewithon! Definitely go for it with Katie's book.

This list took a genre twist late 😮. I had your number two on my TBR from a few years back and I have added your number one. No idea which year I’ll read these in 😅.

Yeha I was quite low on the SFF this year but I the ones I did read were great!

I've read Brat Farrar, which was one of my favourite books the year I read it too. I also read Mrs. Montgomery Hurst this year and liked it as much as you did, so it'll make my top ten too, when I do it. I was going to ask you which was your favourite of the Barsetshire novels, but you've already answered that. My next one is Framley Parsonage which I plan to read this year. I hope to get to North and South too. Nice list, Aaron!

I only read the last two in 2024, my overall favourite is really hard to decide, I think Barchester Towers might just edge it because it is so funny but I do also love Doctor Thorne.

Great list! I’ve read The Spy Who Came in from the Cold and Chess twice each, two of my favourites. (And I’m not a fan of the game of chess at all, so I can confirm that you don’t need to love the game to love the book!) I haven’t read the rest of your picks, definitely some stuff I want to explore.
@AaronReadABook3 күн бұрын
The history of chess does have lots of weird and wonderful characters in it which is partially why I like it so much, so the story is fitting. I need to find more Zweig to read.

Great list man. The only one of these I’ve read is The Spy Who Came In From The Cold and there’s some more great Le Carre Smiley books you’ll enjoy. I Who Have Never Known Men has been getting lots of fantastic reviews so I’ll definitely be picking it up in the foreseeable future. Happy New Year dude
@AaronReadABook3 күн бұрын
Yeah I need to get more Le Carre for sure. I think you would like I Who Have Never Known Men, I haven't seen many people not get on with it.

Yay for I Who Have Never Known Men. Unsurprisingly it tops my list this year too 😊. The Blue Book of Nero sounds fascinating and I really want to read more Trollope and Gaskell in 2025. Love your list Aaron. Great video 😊. Happy New Year 🎉🎉🎉

I feel we're doing a good job at spreading the Boudica love! I don't know why, because everyone absolutely loves I who have never known men, but it sounds so bleak and grim that I just don't really want to read it!! I would love to read more Gaskell, Katie's book, and Brat Farrar though 😊
@AaronReadABook2 күн бұрын
I said it's about hope and friendship! That's not grim. I think you would like Brat Farrar.
