So fun to see all the sweaters together! And it's fun to hear how they've worn over time. I feel like podcasts so often talk about knits when they're fresh but not many go back and talk about them after they've worn in. Nice to hear that perspective!

I know what you mean... so much work goes into making them for us that in the end, I can totally justify the price. It does require some restraint on my end to be financially responsible and not buy them when they are released but instead, right before I cast on. I’ll be hosting a free pattern giveaway of the knitters choosing very soon, stay tuned!
@victoriaguerin28514 жыл бұрын
There are so many free patterns on Ravelry that it's worth looking for something similar if you can't afford the pattern you want. I also look for older patterns and then check Ebay for the books or issues (Interweave etc.) in which they were originally published. You can often get the whole book used for the price of just the pattern. I've found some wonderful knitting books on Ebay and at thrift shops. Libraries also have knitting books or can get them in interlibrary loan.

Hi Taylor.....How are you? Thank you for sharing your top ten sweaters, you truly are a gifted knitter.....I enjoy knitting very much and TRY to create lovely knitted items.....as expressed, I TRY, but, not every project turns out great, but, I do believe that practice is the only way to become more skilled, plus, I do enjoy the challenge of attempting different patterns. I like that you have tried so many different sweaters, and you provide interesting commentary about each project-----which gives great insight to the viewer (i.e. mentioning that 'felting' can occur under the arm pits).......so thank you for showing all your magnificent sweaters. I would say the only thing that is more lovely than your sweaters is your hair.....it is so pretty. Stay healthy and happy....sincerely, Lynda
Wow. I love your Dathan👌 I like, how you comment your knits with the positives and negatives.....this helps, when choosing a pattern and may help some less experienced knitters.....I have the snug fit around my shoulders with my Birkin. It has been the first colorwork sweater I made and although it is a beautiful design I don’t wear it a lot. Thanks for showing!

They are expensive 😂. By the time you're done factoring in the cost of quality yarn and the time spend knitting, they are far more expensive than most sweaters purchased. Still...I'm all for it. Which is the primary reason I invest in quality yarn so the garment lasts a very long time.

I absolutely loved all of your sweaters, they’re very delicate and beautiful; I always get attracted to cropped-isn style sweaters because they suit dresses and skirts much better than longer sweaters do. Just wondering: what knitting needle sizes do you find yourself using a lot and/or which sizes did you use to make the cropped style sweaters in this video? Would you say mostly between 3mm-4mm needles? Or smaller/bigger? Knowing this will really help me buy the right sizes of needles to start off because I am interested in knitting similar cropped-ish sweaters as you :)

I typically get gauge on US 4, US 5, or US 7, but I would use a 6 if it gets the gauge. I can’t recommend a full interchangeable set enough. I use these from knitters pride, but everyone has their preference. www.google.com/shopping/product/16597875862603920130?q=knitter%27s+pride+interchangeable+needles&client=safari&hl=en-us&biw=414&bih=719&tbs=vw:g,ss:44&prmd=sivn&sxsrf=ALeKk02ZP_pN4GNNSubGmmyq-S0bmGwTug:1613148540205&prds=eto:15693526112013676077_0,cdl:1,prmr:1,cs:1

Would you recommend the Ola Yoke Sweater for an absolute beginner in sweater knitting? Knitted a lot, but mostly shawls, loops, hats... No sweater yet. I would really like a long lasting colorwork sweater and the Ola Yoke is stunning.
@TaylorOwen2 жыл бұрын
I would say so, yes. Especially if you have the patience for fingering weight yarn. It was one of the first few sweaters I think I knit… bottom up sweaters are difficult to gauge in terms of fit, but it is a well written pattern. ❤️🧶😊
@debo71012 жыл бұрын
@@TaylorOwen thanks for your tips - thats true, I didn‘t consider the thickness of the yarn first. I decided on another pattern, which is a much thicker sweater with bulky yarn. I just started knitting - also bottom up. The Ola Yoke is on my ToDo-List😊

I love how the first sweater fits. The bottom shape looks dIfferent from the original. What adjustments did you make.
@TaylorOwen4 жыл бұрын
Oh dang... well, first I ought to re-measure my gauge. I mentioned recently how poor I am at measuring. I knit the contract color in a heavier weight (DK) than the main color (fingering)... I think this gave a looser gauge and added inches of ease I did not anticipate originally... then I knit it a bit shorter than the pattern may have called for. I’m learning that I previously didn’t think much about how to effectively communicate my modifications even while planning to share the finished garment details on my podcast. I’m making an effort to take better notes and be more organized in future projects. Thanks for watching!
@annmariebusu99244 жыл бұрын
Taylor Owen thanks for the reply. I really liked the sweater but was disappointed yours looks nicer😂. When I saw the picture on Ravelry I didn’t want to make it anymore 😅. Your sweater is not straight at the bottom. It’s like a smiley face scoop which I like.

@TaylorOwen4 жыл бұрын
Thank you! It is a very delicate piece of material. I would make it just a little bit longer inn the yoke and body if I were to do it again. The gauge measures 18 sts and 25 rows per 4”

@@TaylorOwen Thanks a lot for your kind answer. Yeah, I also thought I would make it a little longer in body part. That's why I ordered 4 skeins of the yarn instead of 3. :) Thank you again for your advice. I can't wait to make it!
