I'm really loving your content 👍 I have a Stephen King project going on, reading all of his books by decades. I'm currently in 1974-1983. I've read 7 books so far, not The Stand yet. So far, Carrie is my favourite. I dnfed The Shining, it's too scary 😜 but I'm hoping to find my courage this year. I loved The Long Walk as well. I'm really looking forward to reading more of his books. Excellent video 😊

@Blackenedwhiplash7 ай бұрын
Glad I clicked on your video, I like your insights and personality. I'm with you, I don't get why people hate on Stephen King's endings. Only a few books/stories had endings I thought could be stronger, usually I really appreciate his endings. The Long Walk was the first novel of his I ever read. I was either in 8th or 9th grade and I loved it so much. Speaking of great endings, that one stuck in my mind for weeks after finishing the last page. I want to reread it soon, but the crazy thing is even though it's been over ten years I still remember just about everything from the book. "It" is fantastic. I can't believe when I first finished it I saw it as just good. I remember thinking that it could have been shorter, some scenes didn't need to be as long or even in there, and all this other stuff. Yet two or so years later (whenever it was I read it) I still remember so many of the scenes and how vivid King's prose was and still think about the themes. So for me, "It" is a case where I grew to appreciate it so much more the more time I contemplated it. It went from like a solid 3 out of 5 to like a 4.5 out of 5 for me. The Talisman didn't really hit for me. I thought it was okay. Maybe I'll like it better on a reread. I did listen to it on audiobook too and the narrator had some odd choices for how he executed it here and there so when I reread it I'll do it properly with the actual physical book. The 1989 Pet Sematary movie in my opinion goes back and forth from genuinely great to horribly cheesy. Especially some of the FX (the face in the sky tho lmfao). And the actor who played Louis Creed seemed like he wasn't even awake the entire production lol. Still an entertaining movie, and the screenplay is great (King himself wrote it of course). Would love to hear your thoughts when you watch it. You mentioned you studied film in school so I'd love to hear your takes on the movie. I also hope you love The Stand! Would love to hear your thoughts on it when you're done. It's such a phenomenal novel.

I have read 2 Stephen King Books, 11/22/63 and The Mist. 11/22/63 is by far my favorite book I've read this year, I plan on rereading it eventually. The Stand is on my list to start in early 2024. I have audiobooked The Green Mile and Misery and both were absolutely fantastic. 11/22/63 is by far my all time favorite book at this point, and I don't think it will be beat out any time soon.

Picking my first book by Stephen King I went out on a limb and picked 11/22/63 solely because of the brief premise I read online (I’m also fascinated with the history of the Kennedys) Admittedly I’m just 100 pages in up until this point and I’ve been enjoying it from the jump. Seeing this list and your summary of the book, it’s gotten me infinitely more excited!

My mother got me into reading Stephen King when I was a teenager in the 90's. I've always preferred his shorter books and short story collections myself. The Green Mile, Rose Madder & Everything's Eventual being my favorites. She also got me into James Herbert, who was kind of the British Stephen King for a while. He lacked the finesse of King's writing, but had some superb stories. The Rats Trilogy, '48, Fluke & Once.. big recommends from me. You should check him out. Really enjoy your content and have subscribed! 😎

I haven’t read that many King books but I would have to say that I loved Cujo, being the first book of his I read. To use your analogy, The Shining felt like a slap and Doctor Sleep felt like the knock out punch. Yes I did read them back to back for the first time. Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption was a good short read and I liked Four Seasons, being a fan of Stand By Me. I haven’t completed any of his chunkier tomes but I have started; Under the Dome, The Stand and It. My horror leanings go more to Dean Koontz but I do enjoy both authors.

The only Stephen King book I ever attempted to read, until recently was Salem's Lot. I did so, on the back of watching the T.V. Mini Series, which I _still_ have on DVD. But, I couldn't get on with the book at all. However recently, another BookTuber recommended The Stand and I loved it and, on your recommendation, I've just finished 11/22/63 and loved it even _more!_ It literally had me "welling up," by the end. I've just started watching the T.V. adaptation with James Franco, on Prime Video. I did remember starting to watch it, a few years back, but can't remember why I abandoned it! After finishing another book from Armisted Maupin's Tales of The City (I need some light relief) I'm going to tackle Swan Song, also a recommendation, before giving Salem's Lot another go! 😉😉

I feel like I have a lot of recency bias with Stephen King books. I finished The Stand last month and was blown away but thinking back 11/22/63 left me with a similar feeling. If I remember correctly there is a brief crossover reference in 11/22/63 that describes Randall Flagg. I only realized this after reading The Stand. Having read Eyes of The Dragon before The Stand, you may have an interesting insight on some characters. I'd love to know your thoughts on The Stand once you're finished. I read Eyes of the Dragon after The Stand and felt that may have been the wrong order. Anyway...I'm autistic, thank you for the calm video.

I've only read a handful of King's novels, but many are on my TBR shelf (It, The Stand, The Shining). My top three are: 1) 11.22.63 (One of most enjoyable reads of the last 10 years for me. I felt like a kid again, reading an exciting adventure under the covers) 2) The Green Mile (read it when it came out in serialized form and was like watching a TV show you could discuss with friends-such fun) 3) Misery (thank god they changed THAT scene in the movie!) Least favorite: Duma Key (would make a great 200 page novel) and Cujo.

How did you decide which books to start with did you research or just went off book covers. And I noticed some are hard back and others soft so what makes you choose between which binding to get. Or are you the type to just grab the first one that catches your eye. I use to be afraid to read Stephen king books cause the certain movies from his books. I just knew his actual books had to be way more scary/thrilling lol I pretty much freaked myself out. Now I’m good this was back in my very early 20’s.

Feel like you could do with planning your notes/bullets pre video to allow the actual delivery of your content to flow better. Will do you justice for the work you’re clearly putting in.

This was hard to do, but here’s my Top 5 Stephen King books, OUT OF THE ONES I’VE READ (and there are a ton more I need to read, most bought already, some on my list to buy…) So it doesn’t really mean much since I haven’t read some “big ones” like IT and the others, but… Here it is: 1. 11/22/63 2. The Institute 3. Under the Dome 4. The Eyes of the Dragon 5. The Shining

@@booksaresick it’s basically Stranger Things, which was in turn inspired by numerous King themes, including the logo and the title itself 🙌🏻

Desperation is one my all time favorites from King. Probably not at the top of most lists but I feel it's somewhat looked over.

I haven’t read ten books from any one author, let alone twenty books, let alone in one year!!!
