I own every Stephen king novel myself and admire his creativity and world building skills. And 11/22/63 is my favorite king book as well. In fact it’s still my favorite book, period. Just love the incredibly thick and authentic world amidst a thoroughly interesting plot. You feel sucked into this world of past decades and almost living it yourself, just an absolute master piece. Beyond the shadow of any doubt one of the best books ever written. Gosh I love this book!!!!

Picking my first book by Stephen King I went out on a limb and picked 11/22/63 solely because of the brief premise I read online (I’m also fascinated with the history of the Kennedys) Admittedly I’m just 100 pages in up until this point and I’ve been enjoying it from the jump. Seeing this list and your summary of the book, it’s gotten me infinitely more excited!

Thinner is one of those overlooked King books, just like Bag of Bones or The Tommyknockers

@@bernabefernandeztouceda7315I would take The Tommyknockers into my bomb-shelter, and leave behind "The Stand," outside for the lingerers to read. I really don't believe Stephen thinks The Tommyknockers is one of his worst books, he just says this to appease the naysayers.
@bernabefernandeztouceda73152 ай бұрын
@@Derpsman2021 I think King himself damaged the reputation of the Knockers forever lol. The author is the worst judge of his own works, that's for sure. He was in a bad place when he wrote, so... The novel is maybe too emotional and he regrets it. But people need to read thing by themselves and trust nobody's opinion

I feel like I have a lot of recency bias with Stephen King books. I finished The Stand last month and was blown away but thinking back 11/22/63 left me with a similar feeling. If I remember correctly there is a brief crossover reference in 11/22/63 that describes Randall Flagg. I only realized this after reading The Stand. Having read Eyes of The Dragon before The Stand, you may have an interesting insight on some characters. I'd love to know your thoughts on The Stand once you're finished. I read Eyes of the Dragon after The Stand and felt that may have been the wrong order. Anyway...I'm autistic, thank you for the calm video.

I think I’ve loved Stephen King’s works for the majority of my life, I grew up watching his movie adaptations and they really made me fall in love with the horror genre. Despite that, before last year I’d only read maybe three or four of his books, but I decided to set myself a challenge to read all of King’s books in 2023 and wow, talk about a challenge! I think I have a pretty solid top 10, I would be pressed to change any of them. 1. Pet Sematary 2. The Shining 3. The Stand 4. IT 5. Misery 6. Under The Dome 7. 11/22/63 8. Cujo 9. Needful Things 10. Christine I would highly recommend reading some of his smaller books, like The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon or Gwendy’s Button Box or Joyland!

I'm turning 61 this month, and have been reading King since high school ( my first was THE SHINING purely because of the Kubrick tie-in cover, and that one clobbered me so hard, I went back and read CARRIE, and carried on. ), and bought every single one until IT...and at that point, I was sort of burned out on Stephen, so let the next few slip by. Tried to get back into him with that one about the town covered by a dome, and couldn't do it. Somehow, I was Kinged out. I can't put them in order, since I loved them all, but the one I read until it fell apart was DANSE MACABRE, since it was almost literally like sitting down with Stevie and geeking about the things I love, and who wouldn't want to do that??? I truly hope he does a second volume, but as time passes, the chances of that have become almost too small to see.

Glad I clicked on your video, I like your insights and personality. I'm with you, I don't get why people hate on Stephen King's endings. Only a few books/stories had endings I thought could be stronger, usually I really appreciate his endings. The Long Walk was the first novel of his I ever read. I was either in 8th or 9th grade and I loved it so much. Speaking of great endings, that one stuck in my mind for weeks after finishing the last page. I want to reread it soon, but the crazy thing is even though it's been over ten years I still remember just about everything from the book. "It" is fantastic. I can't believe when I first finished it I saw it as just good. I remember thinking that it could have been shorter, some scenes didn't need to be as long or even in there, and all this other stuff. Yet two or so years later (whenever it was I read it) I still remember so many of the scenes and how vivid King's prose was and still think about the themes. So for me, "It" is a case where I grew to appreciate it so much more the more time I contemplated it. It went from like a solid 3 out of 5 to like a 4.5 out of 5 for me. The Talisman didn't really hit for me. I thought it was okay. Maybe I'll like it better on a reread. I did listen to it on audiobook too and the narrator had some odd choices for how he executed it here and there so when I reread it I'll do it properly with the actual physical book. The 1989 Pet Sematary movie in my opinion goes back and forth from genuinely great to horribly cheesy. Especially some of the FX (the face in the sky tho lmfao). And the actor who played Louis Creed seemed like he wasn't even awake the entire production lol. Still an entertaining movie, and the screenplay is great (King himself wrote it of course). Would love to hear your thoughts when you watch it. You mentioned you studied film in school so I'd love to hear your takes on the movie. I also hope you love The Stand! Would love to hear your thoughts on it when you're done. It's such a phenomenal novel.

The only Stephen King book I ever attempted to read, until recently was Salem's Lot. I did so, on the back of watching the T.V. Mini Series, which I _still_ have on DVD. But, I couldn't get on with the book at all. However recently, another BookTuber recommended The Stand and I loved it and, on your recommendation, I've just finished 11/22/63 and loved it even _more!_ It literally had me "welling up," by the end. I've just started watching the T.V. adaptation with James Franco, on Prime Video. I did remember starting to watch it, a few years back, but can't remember why I abandoned it! After finishing another book from Armisted Maupin's Tales of The City (I need some light relief) I'm going to tackle Swan Song, also a recommendation, before giving Salem's Lot another go! 😉😉

I'm really loving your content 👍 I have a Stephen King project going on, reading all of his books by decades. I'm currently in 1974-1983. I've read 7 books so far, not The Stand yet. So far, Carrie is my favourite. I dnfed The Shining, it's too scary 😜 but I'm hoping to find my courage this year. I loved The Long Walk as well. I'm really looking forward to reading more of his books. Excellent video 😊

Fairy tale was my first Stephen King ( enjoyed the first part but struggled towards end ) . Misery was great .. and just purchased Duma Key, Salem’s Lot, Mr Mercedes, If it bleeds , The Gunslinger .. so looking to add a Stephen King book to my monthly reads .

Mine are IT 11/22/63 Green mile The long Walk I have only read these four and two other king books. But I would consider them in my top books not just a king but of all time. Can’t wait to read more of his stuff.

The only Stephen King book I’ve read is Joyland and it gave me the same feeling you had after reading Pet Cemetery. So this year my goal is to read more Stephen King books. This list is great!

Really enjoyed your video. I'm currently listening to The Shining and have Doctor Sleep on deck to listen to next. Non-book related question. I love the quality of your audio and video. What equipment are you using?

Great list and video! 11/22/63 is, without a doubt, my favorite Stephen King book as well. My top ten would be: 1. 11/22/63 2. Wizard & Glass (can I put the Dark Tower series as a whole?) 3. Dolores Claiborne 4. The Long Walk 5. It 6. Under The Dome 7. Doctor Sleep 8. Bag Of Bones 9. The Institute 10. Different Seasons I should note that I still haven’t read The Stand, Misery, or Pet Semetary. I know it’s sacrilege to not include The Shining, but I think having read it after reading so many other books of his and seeing the movie so many times affected my opinion. Take care and great videos!!

I should also add honorable mentions to Fairy Tale and Finders Keepers.

Pet Sematary is my favorite Stephen King book of all time because it was my first book I ever had. I actually saw the movie before I read the book, I plan on getting more books by him.

I've only read a handful of King's novels, but many are on my TBR shelf (It, The Stand, The Shining). My top three are: 1) 11.22.63 (One of most enjoyable reads of the last 10 years for me. I felt like a kid again, reading an exciting adventure under the covers) 2) The Green Mile (read it when it came out in serialized form and was like watching a TV show you could discuss with friends-such fun) 3) Misery (thank god they changed THAT scene in the movie!) Least favorite: Duma Key (would make a great 200 page novel) and Cujo.
