Just picked up the stand. I want to get into the dark tower series but I wanna do the expanded reading order. Its recommend to read the stand before book 3 but it's so big that I feel like it would take me out of the series so I decided to do it first.

Gonna leave my own opinions on the ones I've read as I watch (spoilers ahead): Cell - I personally loved this one but I can see why others wouldn't towards the end. I really like zombie stories so Stephen King having done one was cool to me. Elevation - I thought I wouldn't like it when I first started reading it, but it grew on me by the end. The price is ridiculous, though. Cycle of the Werewolf - Forgettable, but the art in it is nice. The Wind Through the Keyhole - It's a bit annoying to read another flashback right after Wizard and Glass, but I like how the second story is told as a story within a story, within another story. I also just liked getting to read more Dark Tower. The Regulators - Desperation has always been one of my favorite movies so when I got the book and found out there's a companion book to it I was very excited. The Regulators itself is alright, though. The Bazaar of Bad Dreams - I have not read the entire collection, but years ago I read one story from it that I enjoyed called The Cookie Jar. I got another copy of the collection years later to read it again only to find out that The Cookie Jar was removed in newer printings of the book. Why? Rage - It's ok. Didn't really feel like it had a point nor much of a story when I read it, it's just a description of a fictional school shooting. I could be forgetting some of it with how long it's been but as of now I don't really like it. The Eyes of the Dragon - My personal favorite King book as of now. Definitely not his best but I just really loved the story. The Gunslinger - Didn't like it at first, but came to appreciate it more over time. Song of Susannah - Personal favorite out of the Dark Tower series, except for Drawing of the Three. The Running Man - I absolutely loved this one when I first read it, but don't remember much of it now. The Dark Tower - Had a couple of small issues with this one but overall amazing. Wizard and Glass - Really good, I don't have much else to say. Roadwork - Didn't like it when I first read it, don't remember much of it anymore. The Dark Half - One of my favorites, I really enjoy the premise of an author's pen name coming to life. Wolves of the Calla - Very good. I don't have much to say about the Dark Tower books as I love all of them almost equally. Doctor Sleep - Loved it. I prefer it to The Shining by a bit, honestly. The Talisman - One of my absolute favorites. I don't think there was a part I didn't enjoy in this book. Cujo - Good story, but not one of my favorites. First King book I read aside from a short story or 2. Carrie - Same as Cujo in my opinion of it, it's pretty good but just not one of my favorites Under the Dome - I loved this one. The big fight scene and the description of how the aliens look at the end always stuck with me, even years after having read it. The Waste Lands - I often forget about this one when I think about The Dark Tower, but it's still great. Desperation - I think this was the second or third King book I read. This and Needful Things were what got me to love his books and keep reading them. Thinner - Liked the idea of the story, but something about it just didn't click with me. Ending was good, and I like that Ginelli is referenced in The Dark Tower. Firestarter - Thought it was fine. I enjoyed it but didn't think it was anything amazing. The Drawing of the Three - I was skeptical about reading The Dark Tower with not enjoying The Gunslinger much at first, but the Drawing of the Three sucked me in and I could not stop reading them after this. All of the characters and concepts introduced are extremely fun and interesting. Eddie Dean is also one of my favorite characters. Salem's Lot - Very good. It's connection to The Dark Tower made me appreciate it more, but even without that it's a great book. The Long Walk - Amazing book, not much else to say. Needful Things - Second or third King book I read, absolutely loved it. Seeing how things escalate from simple 'pranks' to the entire town being destroyed is very fun, and I really liked Alan Pangborn. Misery - Very good, no comment aside from that. The Green Mile - Never liked this one as much as others did, but it's still a very good story. Pet Semetary - Also never liked this one as much as others did, but to a point that I didn't like it much at all. I'm not sure what it is but something just did not click with me while reading it. The story itself is good, and I liked the movie, but I just felt kinda bored reading the book. Might have to reread it and see what I think after. It - I think it was brought down for me a bit because I took long pauses between reading it, but it was still a very good story regardless. The Shining - It's the Shining, so of course it's good. I just got Sleeping Beauties yesterday, so seeing it so high in this video has made me excited to get to reading it. Also made me excited to read Black House with how high it was, since I loved the Talisman so much.

A cool idea for you that I just thought of. Maybe its common sense idk.... But when you go to reread these in a few years. Reference this video, lay the books out in this order. Then pick the middle number and read that first (unless the middle number lands on a series, then read the series first book), start with the book in the middle read that book, for your next book, read to the left of that book (your higher rated book), then after that book read to the right of the middle (your lower rated book), and continue this strategy from the middle outward then place the books in a new order after they are read to compare how the book may have changed for you as you age/grow as a reader. If you start from the bottom of your list for reread, or from the top of your list from a reread, you give yourself a biased platform and will likely end up thinking of the books the same way you originally did.

Cujo, End of Watch and The Green Mile made me cry. I haven’t finished 11-22-63 yet, so I need to do that. I think Christine is still in my top 5. So many creepy and exciting parts in that book, as well as a beautiful book about friendship.

My favorites are Revival and Joyland. Joyland is definitely a corny piece of fluff with extra cheese, but I love it. I like the concept of a carnival setting, and it's actually odd that King did it only once, now that I think about it. I prefer it when King gets nostalgic, he does that pretty well (The Body is my favorite novella of his (and Stand By Me is my favorite movie adaptation from King). As for some of the others - Shining and 'Salem's Lot were not perfect, but at least solid. The Stand I quit about 500 pages in - words cannot describe how crushingly, hellishly boring the Larry and Nick plots are. And Under the Dome is sloppy but one of his most entertaining reads once it gets going. In all honesty, I think I like his short stories more, though.

Man I agree with a lot of them but not where you ranked " wind through the keyhole " nor " the wizard and the glass" and maybe it's because I like the coming of age of Roland . But either way they both make my top 10. I can't believe you ranked "bag of bones" and "Buick 8" above them. But I guess we all have our own opinions. And did I miss " blockade billy"

I don’t put much weight into what artists think of their own work. They’re obviously incredibly biased and it’s not always a positive bias. They are often even more harsh on themselves than the average fan.

It seems that's more of a Stephen King problem, specifically. He struggles with brevity. There's plenty of writers who can tell a great, relatively short story that has everything that it needs, but King needs to make it a thousand pages to feel fleshed out.
