Thank you for including On The Beach. It's not just my favorite Neil Young Album, It's one of my favorite Albums, period. One of my favorite Neil Young lines on here: "Though my problems are meaningless. That don't make them go away."

Interesting response to this thread. It's weird....I'm pretty sure you chose Goat's Head Soup, and that's what I see in the picture up there, but the text for the 6:22 thumbnail says "Exile On Main Street." I think your reasoning for choosing Goat's Head matches my reason for choosing Black and Blue as my favorite Stones album....it was the first one I got that was new when I got it. Enjoyed the rundown!

Hi Fitz! I like “Street Legal” too. You can’t go wrong with Bill Evans on any day of the week. “On The Beach” is an excellent record and I’m in full agreement with your description of it. “Goat’s Head Soup” should get more love. I have a copy of that Chet Baker album on compact disc. Such a great player. I need to see that documentary. I’m a huge Grateful Dead fan but with Weir’s solo stuff I only have “Ace.” I’ll be jumping on this thread for sure. Hope all is well my friend! ✌️

Hey Mike, thanks for watching. Goat’s Head seems to be getting a lot of love out there on the top 10 lists, which is nice to see. Definitely check out the Weir album. Completely different than Ace and an excellent late-career, long-in-the-tooth record, in the best sense. Take care!

I honestly don’t know what records I’ve played the most. So I just went with ten I have on cassette. I agree, best and favorite are different. An example for me would be Rock Of The Westies by Elton John. It may not be his best but it is by far the one I play the most. I enjoyed your video and I’m a new subscriber.

First-time viewer and your video gave me some new music to discover (The Durutti Column, David Sylvian). Being the Grateful Dead fan that I am, really need to delve in to Blue Mountain as well. I have always avoided 'Street Legal' since I felt with the producer and the sound of it wasn't great - but it will be on today's playlist thanks to your video. Also, 'do we really need to listen to Angie again?' made me crack up :)

Hi 👋 I'm in my sixties in age. I have a large music collection from the 1960s to the early 2000s. I like Jazz and Bill Evans Trio are good. I have his Moon Beams album. David Sylvian and his album from 1982 titled Brilliant Trees is cool, i like the song Red Guitar from it. Chet Baker is my favorite Jazz musician. His trumpet playing is brilliant and his vocals too. I saw the film that you mentioned in the 1980s at a film festival. It is called Let's get Lost and i have a cd of the soundtrack.

There are a lot of Dylan quotables but that one gets me every time. Not just the line but the way Bob sings it. My brother and I, for years, would find ourselves in times of joy and one would look at the other and say just those opening lines- if you don’t believe there’s a price- and we’d smile leaving the remainder unsaid. Cheers!

@deeg8849

@@dxbwinenaudio I’m a stones nut and the so called consecutive 4 (I say it’s 5) in a row is beggars banquet, let it bleed, sticky fingers and exile on Main Street (plus my goats head soup for the 5th). Exile to me is the greatest album ever. Modern music is American with its influences of blues, soul, country, gospel and so on. Exile is the greatest tribute to American music ever made by anyone, which is why I think it’s the perfect rock n roll album. The others I mention are great as well but they nailed it with exile. Don’t get me wrong, the stones have other great albums as well. I love the debut album and aftermath (their first great album) but those albums are overlooked because it was an era of singles. But to me the Brian Jones years were so vital. Tattoo You is solid and their last really good album. Love how sode one is mostly rock n roll and a side two more mellow. The rerelease a couple years back has some great previously unrereleased tracks that show the stones depth. Check ‘em out. Health and happiness. Cheers

Enjoyed the list! Also, somebody's "greatest" work can be emotionally and intellectually demanding (that's why it's great), so it's not the kind of thing you habitually put on while you're doing something else. Side note: There is no Replacements album I don't love -- because they're the Replacements and fans of the band know that unevenness is kind of the point of loving this band, but I honestly haven't listened to "Stink" or "Sorry Ma, Forgot to Take Out the Trash" (or even "Hootenanny") in years, though I have no intention of getting rid of them. My appreciation for "Don't Tell A Soul" is enhanced by the 2021 release of "Dead Man's Pop," the 1 lp/3 CD box set remix/remaster by producer Matt Wallace that's an attempt to return the record to its original conception (because some think the released version was overproduced -- well, for the Replacements).

i agree with you wholeheartedly about everything other than david sylvian (although i haven't heard that record) and the notion that "new pony" is in any way shape or form weak. i love that record and will defend it until my dying breath....i was just listening to "on the beach" when your video came up. "coming down again" and "winter" make stones record an all purpose pick....sylvian's "september" is effective track despite my reservations about him..."dead man's pop" set reminded me that westerberg was too busy be a f-up to record those songs properly. "don't tell a soul" still should have been a commercial breakthrough...i would pick "quadrophenia" but "on the beach" is a great alternative.
