I saw one of the touring versions of The Beat when they came to Victoria a little over 10 years ago- it was a fun show, but obviously not the same without the original lineup. Also a big Sugor Ros fan, although I've only heard a handful of their albums.

'I Smell Winter' is a fantastic song. I challenge anyone to find a bands hit collection where the opening track is the second track on the b-side of a 12" single. The Housemartins were fairly remarkable, they were proper pop stars in the UK, always on the cover of teeny magazines even had the UK christmas number one, and every single one of there songs was overtly political. Theres very few acts that have pulled that off. Coincidentally maybye The Specials is the other that springs to mind. Great video.

@@Harrispilton22 Thanks for checking in, Harris. I f$&kin’ love ‘I Smell Winter’. I can, and have, played it a few times in a row at casa Fitz like Peel played Teenage Kicks on air. some great finds, that Spanish Iggy with gatefold sleeve is cool, never seen that one. We went to Tokyo for the first time late 2023, we were just blown away by the record shopping. Went to over a dozen Disk Unions alone, they are the best for sure. Loved going to Tower again, very nostalgic for us, our hotel was a 4 minute walk away. Other favorite stores were Recofan, Coconuts Disk, Daruma Ya, Flask Disc Ranch, few others. We came home with 4 suitcases full haha! In case you didn't know, you can check the condition of all the records at the counter, just say "check condition" and they open everything for you and very gently hand you each lp one at a time to inspect. They are so respectful and friendly, and even when we had 25-30 records to go through, they were always nothing but helpful and patient. Thinking of going back in 2025!
