For everybody planning on snorkeling.... please be careful. Too many tourists end up on the news for underestimating the kind of strength and endurance you need in Hawaii waters. This is a really nice video but as a native to Haleiwa and North Shore.... I get stuck in the traffic caused by tourists trying to get to Laniakea Beach. All I can say, in the most respectful way, is please understand that while you're on vacation, residents are not. They have places to get to and tourists who spend too much time slowing down to gawk at the ocean, crossing the street at different points of Kam Hwy, and taking forever to pull on/off the road, causes a major lag in our already busy day. Enjoy the island, gain knowledge of our history and culture, be mindful as a tourist, and GUARANTEE.... you going have one memorable trip!

1. Go to Waikiki Beach to do one thing: learn how to surf and do it. 2. If you can, get a rental car and DRIVE the Island. Explore. There's traffic but go on the hours of the day when everyone is at work; avoid rush hours. Get an economy MPG Four-door car. 3. don't ever eat at a fast food joint like McDonald's, ever!! Spend all your eating money on the REALLY GREAT LOCAL food. 4. GO TO THE BEACHES. Bring an inexpensive mask and snorkel with you in your carry on backpack!! (Forget the fins; just the mask and snorkel!) 5. Go to the Bishop Museum! 6. Go to Wahiawa Town; to get a feel of Small Town "Country" Island life feel. Check out Dole Plantation!!(FUN). 7. Drive Kamehameha Highway to the North Shore, to the many white sand BEACHES; visit and look around, eat in Haleiwa Town, there. 8. Stroll around Ala Moana Shopping Complex for half a day, eat at Patty's Chinese Kitchen there. 9. Be sure to drive 360° the entire Island while there (Beach hopping, North Shore). The windward side, on the way closer to the beginning of the North Shore point turn; has very interesting feel. 10. Visit Manoa Valley neighborhood.

For all you visitors from the mainland and all other countries if your looking for more adventures on Oahu check out hiking trails on the west side, leeward side, and Windward side. The trails are called Kaena Point, Jackass Ginger, Makupuu Light House, Aiea Loop, Friendship Garden, Blue Stone trail, Maunawili Falls, and Olomana trail. I knew for the first time that there was a Byodo-in temple in Hawaii, and at the same time I learned that the Japanese history of Hawaii was surprisingly old. I've been to Waikiki beach, Waikiki city, and Valley of the Temples so many times. I've also been to Dole Cannery twice in my life. I was literally in Waikiki today like 6 hours ago. The last time I went to Dole Cannery was with my sister, mom, and my mom's mom my grandma. I've pretty much done all the tourist activities here on the island but I want to do more tourist activities in the State of Hawaii. I've been to the Big Island so many times. The 2 other Hawaiian Islands I've been to are Kauai and Maui. I went to Maui with my mom, dad, and sister on the Super Fairy. I also went to Kauai with my boy scout troop we went camping at a facility. I been on almost every trail and hiked almost every trail on the Island of Oahu so I know all the trails because I used to be part of the Boy Scouts of America organization. I've also camped at almost every campsite on Oahu like Hoomaluhia Botanical Gardens, Bellows, Dilingham, Pupukea, and Airhorn. The trails I hiked on Oahu are called Jackass Ginger, Makapu'u Lighthouse, Water Tower, Friendship Garden, Manawili Falls, Olomana Trail, Lanikai Pill Boxes, the Heiau Trail, and the Pali trail. I want to explore a little bit more of Oahu, a whole lot more of the State of Hawaii, and an extremely whole lot more of America before I go to any other country around the world. But before I travel to the Mainland like another state I want to travel outer island first. But before I travel the outer islands I want to travel a little bit more on Oahu like I wanna drive to to West Side, the Leeward Side, and more around the Windward Side. I also want to go camping at every other single campsite I haven't been to and hike every single trail I haven't hiked before. I've been snorkeling, body boarding, and swimming before on Oahu. I've never fished that much thou on Oahu thou. I want to travel to the island of Molokai the side that doesn't have the people with leprosy disease on obviously. I also want to travel to Lanai even thou there is nothing there which is what I heard from my dad. I know nobody can go to Ni'ihau or Kahoolawe because Ni'ihau is privately owned and Kahoolawe is a target isle. The Mainland states I've been to are Florida, New Mexico, Virginia, Nevada, and California. My dad's mom which is my grandma lives in California and so does my aunty but she used to live in New Mexico that's why I've been to New Mexico and California. My family went to Disney World Florida and Bush Gardens so that's why we went to Florida and Virginia. Also my dad lives in Reno Nevada. My sister and I went to go visit him in Reno, Nevada so that's why I went to Nevada. So I live in the state of Hawaii, I've been to Florida, Virginia, Nevada, California, and New Mexico so I've been to 6 states in my life so that means I just have to visit 44 more states. I live on Oahu, I've been to Maui, Kauai, and Big Island so that means I've been to 4 islands in my life and so that means I just have to visit 2 more islands. Kahoolawe and NI'ihau don't count because nobody's alowed to go to those islands.

Be guarded, however, sir. After all, you visited Hawaii as a tourist. That is, given it was a vacation, you guys hit the top spots -- dodged the unpleasant aspects -- and thus experienced the greatest degree of fun and relaxation. That's not the same as outright LIVING there, however. . (No different than a tourist in, say, Los Angeles. He goes to Disneyland and the beaches and fine restaurants and Universal Studios and clubs in Hollywood and a LA Dodger game, then tells himself, "Hey, this place is great! Think I'll move here!" Alas, as noted, given his status as a tourist, he ignored the worst aspects -- the undesirable areas -- and therefore goaded himself into seeing the place as better than it really was!)

With all due respect: I'd collapse 4, 3 & 2 on this list into one sight seeing spot on your list. I'd remove the Dole plantation (no offense but we grew pineapples in SC it's just fruits growing in the ground) and I'd add the Polynesian Center, Shark's Cove and Kualoa Ranch to this list. Also deserving of a top spot is Diamond Head, the Makapu'U lighthouse and Kaneohe Bay's sandbar and hammerhead nursery. Waikiki is nice (lived there) but not really a top 10 spot once you really know the island.
@resolute1232 жыл бұрын
