I just wanted to say thank you so much AHEE. You have no idea (well, you probably do actually lol) how invaluable it is to amateur producers like me to have access to tips, advice, and knowledge from someone I ACTUALLY LISTEN TO ALREADY. Your videos on spectral analysis and call and response completely changed the way I think about creating music and I feel so inspired by you, and the wonderful energy you bring to this community. You genuinely seem like such a great person and it’s clear how passionate you are about music and helping others learn it too. So, from a relatively new alien, THANK YOU SO MUCH! ❤❤❤ P.S. I unfortunately missed your set at Shambhala because I had a shift during it but I saw some videos and it looked AMAZING! So PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE come back next year!!

Geezer, so glad i found your channel, i was involved with the UK garage scene in the 90's and i'm getting back into production, just for fun. You're one of the few guys showing really interesting, advanced techniques on the toobs, appreciate you sharing the knowledge. Any other suggested channels for advanced techniques? By the way, over on my (you know what) i just posted a Serum preset of that classic garage / jungle siren, but i'm sure you could make a better go of it (i only got 60% of the way there!).

Hey man great video. Thanks for all the amazing insight over the years! I was wondering if you'd be able to elaborate a little more on the mono/stereo relationship pertaining to clubs/festival systems since you have experienced them first hand. People always say most major systems are mono. When I hear that, I'm thinking the whole frequency spectrum is mono even on the speakers with no sub in them. So with your reese example, is just putting a separate sub under it all you need for it to translate ok? The topic of mono compatibility in regards to everything happening above the sub is something I've been unsure about and sometimes feel like I'm making my mix too thin to make sure its mono compatible.
@billB101
@billB101 10 ай бұрын
I've been a club and festival sound engineer and dance producer for many years now. Major club and festival systems are not mono at all, but the sub end is, it's omnidirectional. Basically just mono everything below 90hz and you're golden, I tend to high pass at 30hz too to take the weight off the amps. I also think it's a good idea to have your main mix elements straight down the middle, especially things like snare for impact. This fad of having everything in mixes super wide is kind of a fallacy too, if everything is wide in a mix then nothing is wide so just have a couple of elements fully panned left right and you'll get a wide enough mix, autopan is you friend here, haas if you know how to control it. Obviously always check your mixing for mono comparability too.

So when your writing/producing are you adding effects and compression to groups or tracks as you go and then taking away or are you waiting for the most part to process sounds and groups after.

I have a Question: when you demonstrate the phase cancellation at 10:02 the Correlation Meter stays perfect at 1.00 Shouldn't it be the other way around? Why is that? And why is it fixed, when you take out the low and bring in a separate Sub? Dont you still ask the speaker with the mids and high to be in more then one positions at the same time? If anyone could answer my question, I would be very happy! :D

hey.. a compressor is not about how loud things can get as you state in the video. A compressor is not a limiter. Only a brickwall Compressor acts like a Limiter. a compressor is a tool to set the dynamic range.

Yeah....about speaker cones...how dafuq do they actually produce sound?...I mean, a simple sinewave I can somewhat understand....but how about a intricate, very busy mix, where you have the full frequency spectrum occupied...how can it produce subs, lows, low mids and mids at the same time?!?!?!?!?😢
@stelthtenau
@stelthtenau 29 күн бұрын
They dont. The frequencies are split across different drivers. Thats why a good 3 way speaker is so effective.
@va941
@va941 29 күн бұрын
@@stelthtenau ok, then another q, how dsfuq can it produce human voice, guitar, percussion and synths at the same time ?
@stelthtenau
@stelthtenau 29 күн бұрын
@@va941 it doesn't. Just as explained in the video the speaker moves in and out making high and low air pressure. Put a track in your daw and look at the sound wave of the track. This is what the speaker is attempting to reproduce. A two way speaker will play low frequencies and mid frequencies from the larger cone, while the high frequencie driver (tweeter) is typically playing high mids up to highs. This is why mixing is so crucial. We are not plaing a bunch of individual sounds like you say but rather playing those sounds combined into one waveform. Hope this helps
