What are the best coloured lures for clear/snaggy water?

Love the wire around the hook for weight trick. 100% using that. 👍

Yep, the ability to create suspending crankbaits/jerkbaits is a real tournament winner 😉

@@Thomhuntfishing I've tried alot of cranks and love catching on them but alot of them fly up to the top way to quickly for my liking. Tried using heavier hooks and splits in the past but isn't the one so this tip is sweet cheers
@Thomhuntfishing3 жыл бұрын
For crank baits if you want a deeper diving lure select ones that have bigger front lips. I have crankbaits that range from 2-3ft deep down to 20ft+ deep 👍🏻

@@Thomhuntfishing Hi Thom thank you, would it be possible to cover leader setups, ie nylon/flourocarbon/traces to braid, when to use and how, at the present I have tied a short flourocarbon leader 2 feet with a loop knot so I can change rigs easily. But not sure if this is the right thing to do. I have come to this style of fishing through lockdowns, been a flyfisher all my fishing life. Sorry bit long winded. Many thanks Chris

Great vid mate! Quick question for you with the ultralight wire, what knot are you using to tie the braid to the loop?
@Thomhuntfishing3 жыл бұрын
It’s coated wire so a simple palomar knot or 9 turn tucked blood knot works fine 👍🏻

Tom, I know this is going to sound pretty daft. However, are there days when you blank? (I don’t mean that as a jibe either) what I mean is that as “non professional “ anglers there are days when I’m sure a lot of us blank. So, what I am asking are there days when the conditions are such that nothing can attract those perch. Because as anglers we need to be aware that “editing of fishing trips “ can lead us into a false sense of inadequacy. Am I fair to say that? Really like watching the advice.
@Thomhuntfishing3 жыл бұрын
Yep I blank! In fact my last 3 trips on a new river resulted in 2 blanks and one session with just 1 bite and 1 tiny jack! On venues that I know I’d say yes I still blank but rarely, even in tough conditions I can usually create 1 or 2 opportunities but a lot of that will come from experience on the venue. If you don’t know a venue very well it’s difficult to know what to turn to next if your first method or area fails
@daverichards65573 жыл бұрын
@@Thomhuntfishing Tom, that’s a great answer, and I think that “non professional anglers” appreciate that honesty. It can seem daunting when you blank and think “well so-&-so never blanks on his videos”. So I’m not doing things correctly. Which ultimately is the question one should ask. What am I not doing properly. I’ve been concentrating my efforts on a local pond, and would concur with your analysis of “learning” the pond(not good grammar) and getting intimate knowledge of behaviour and geography of said waters. I had a cracking catch the other day after using a rattling bait(Westin baby buzz-roach colours ) infact three catches. Please keep the videos going, its a big help.

Thanks I’m glad you’re enjoying them! I know what you mean but it’s a difficult trap to fall in to.... seeing other people’s catches and comparing to yourself! Don’t do that! I always advise that everyone’s situation is different, different preferred species and methods, different availability to venues and different lifestyles/time available to fish... so just focus on breaking your own PB’s and goals, not other people’s!

Hi Thom! What wire do you recommend to buy when fishing for perch when there's a chance of catching pike? What's your favourite? Thank you
@Thomhuntfishing Жыл бұрын
AFW Surflon Micro Ultra in 6.6lb (canals) or 11lb (rivers and reservoirs)
@blankmasterfishing Жыл бұрын
@Thomhuntfishing Thank you! That's really helpful. I've never used wire trace for perch, only fluorocarbon leader but really want to give it a go a see how perch react to it as where I usually fish they are really finicky, to the point even using like a swivel at the end of the leader can put them off. I think it's a lot safer too, never had a problem so far but you never know. 🤜🏼🤛🏼

Thanks for this... new subscriber.. I'm wanting big perch this year.. any tips for searching out bigger fish? Iv been fishing around 7cm baits, 5 to 7cm.. but iv seen big perch take big 11cm baits... should I stick with around 7cm size? Iv had success with fox 7cm replicants but biggest so far is only a 1lb ish ... any tips welcome.. this year I'll be fishing neds for first time 👍

Hi there, yep here’s another one of my videos on that subject! Big baits are very effective but usually when the water warms up a bit. Big fish are often about location. Do your homework and be certain they are even in the venue/area you are fishing. kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y5jIhJxspNKBqtk

Hi, sorry for the comment, and you have little one to enjoy. but I've watched a lot of your videos recently, but no matter what I try, I'm failing to catch fish, it's like every canal I'm trying is a desert of fish, nothing, not a sausage, what structures am I looking for to catch fish, is there anything to note? I see tons of overhangs, but they are always on the far bank... Nearside feels like a struggle to even feel like there's life
