I like my no.1 to always be an album that totally went against what I normally listen to. That Crosses album is one I've spun a lot and it surprised me how much I liked it. Expect a big sweaty man hug in a few weeks! 😅🍻🤘

As always a list from you Liam is full of bands I’ve not heard of. Eternal Rot was killer, Celestial Sanctuary was a fabulous record. That Malediction dropped was a surprise and it’s fantastic. Decembre Noir was not too bad from the couple tunes I heard. Aaaaaaaa lot great EP’s and solo projects that were great as well. Tribunal was really good from what I heard. Also a number one where Chino from the Deftones on synthy pop stuff was not on my bingo card for 2023 my man 🤣🤣 great way to pick your list and especially number 1. Great fuckin video ole boy

Great video as always, Liam, and plenty of stuff I'm not familiar with, or at least not heard, that I need to try. The Celestial Sanctuary and Penny Coffin releases are great, but I'm with you on Malediction, it's absolutely SAVAGE. Heaviest release of the year for me, personally. I've been into Myrkur since she arrived on the scene, but I must admit that I haven't listened to the new one yet, so that's definitely on my watch list. Crosses are great, too. Anything with Chino's voice on it is always going to be worth listening to and, despite the terrible album name, it's an absolute triumph, and a worthy number 1! All the best for the new year, mate. Good to see Décembre Noir album on someone's list. Such a killer album. Great year for Melodic death doom. Octobers Tide. Hanging Garden, Fires in The Distance, Marianas Rest. But after seeing Marianas Rest on zero year end lists, I certainly didn't expect it to be this high. But it's well deserved. It was my most played album at one point and stayed in my top 10 until very late into the year. It's weird, because it was so popular when it was released but it seems to be forgotten about. That On Thorns I Lay album was in my top 20. One of their best for me. Enjoy, mate. Have a great year and I'll look forward to future vids

I didn't even know what Crosses was until I put it on for a drive home from a family holiday. By the end of the trip I was a fan and it's stuck with me since it's release. Bitume productions I believe is label for Sermon so may distro somewhere your part of the world. Really great list man. I also love the Decemberance, Nordicwinter, and Voidhaven records. I hadn't heard the Marianas Rest, Sermon, Godthrymm or Decembre Noir records, and they're so great. I love Hamish, but I hadn't really listened to Godthrymm. How stupid of me that was! It's so good. I've got a melodic/gothic doom project, and we're working on an EP. I hope I can share that with you soon because it's in a similar vein as some of this stuff. I LOVE that European, melodic gothy doom stuff.

Very cool list mate, you whip up like 80% that I have not listen to at all. We often just show off our stuff and forget to appreciate the bands working their asses of to put out their records. They deserve more recognition. I am going to get that Décember Noir record and I have looked to get Eternals' EP for some time, but there are so much stuff in your list that needs to be listen to. This year the music has been a bit on the backburner so I have not really dived deep into the underground stuff and I have bearly been on youtube at all. I really liked the new Myrkur record, too! If you want another black metal influenced genre nebulous album similar to that, check out the new album from Helga called Wrapped in Mist. It’s quite similar to Myrkur. That new record from Calderum is good, too- nice melodic raw black metal. Probably not enough to be an honourable mention for me personally, but still an enjoyable record. I didn’t expect the number one to be a synthpop record. What a curveball! Happy new year, Liam!

Now that's a varied list! I had to copy and paste that into Notepad as i'm going to work my way through that this week. Only heard of Delain and Hellripper. I have gotten almost universal praise for the diversity in music there and that makes me pretty happy. I still have things I need to get into but to me it was my best list yet.

Lot of info and i checked some of them, i didnt know not one, i am not in the extreme metal movement i see, because i know not one😂, anyway, thats the way it is. I did like the bands i just checked but just not possible to buy them because i am specialy into hard rock, heavy metal and thrash. Ahhh, i know GOATMOON, but dont have anything by them but i checked them years ago and i like them. Happy new year and keep the passion going.
