I’d wager that Simpson LTD is your best bet for finding a solid variety of K31s, K11s, G96 etc etc. They update their site daily and have reasonably priced rifles. Descriptions are usually on the conservative side, but you can always call them up and speak with a sales rep. Not to mention, the vast majority of K31s imported currently are from private purchasers. The arsenals dried up a few years ago. So the chances of finding a K31 that is in very good condition are significantly higher.

@@thegreatchickenoverlord5976the thing to remember with Simpson’s though is the rifle you’re looking at buying is the one you’re getting. Which is a lot better to me than just buying one and hoping it’s good. @@Butterybiscutbase exactly, the rifle you see is the one you get. Not to mention, they have much more of selection than RTI. It’s worth it to pay the extra money rather than settling for a K31 with a chewed stock and blueing loss.

Hey thanks for sharing, Simpson LTD has a significant amount of K31 rifles in stock. Not only that, Simpson LTD tells you details about each rifle listed. They give you the bluing loss, the wood condition, and the bore condition. They’re not much more expensive than what RTI has them for right now and they’re still cheaper than K31s from some other distributors.

These comments are unhinged. I’ve purchased 5 rifles from RTI, 2 of which were from Ethiopia. One was a B grade SMLE which required a lot of cleaning but it does fire and is a fun novelty. I paid like $300 for it. That’s just the going price for these types of things. The other was an M1 garand for 899 and it is in great shape. Stock is worn out but it adds to the character in my opinion and the thing functions flawlessly so I cannot be upset. My best purchase from them was the K31 (all matching and stock impeccable)… thing was 399… they could have charge wayyyyy more considering other places charge around 700 so a huge win for RTI on that one. How people can’t see the positivity in that is truly their loss. There are far more boogie men out there in the gun world. Going to Ethiopia and establishing those contacts/relationships and curating takes time. The owner of RTI did us a service by helping flood the market again with some more milsurps. He can’t control the condition they are in. I understand the gripes about advertising the condition but I haven’t felt burned by them. Milsurps are drying up and the prices are what they are now. Finding true “deals” is just not an option.

I have a horse farm. The first rifle I bought from RTI was a Carcano. It cleaned up well, and then I discovered the Calvary model. Had to have that! Also as advertised, and I enjoy cleaning up and making historic guns functioning, especially well built one that have stood the test of time. So, my latest was a MAS 49/56 Refurbished in Excellent condition. They did not mention the bore, so I knew I was gambling a bit there. The rifle is awesome! The bore is not perfect, but I am still working on it, and I love this gun! :) I have lucked out so far with RTI! And I would not get my panties in a wad if I got one that was beyond safe and shootable. They are what they are, and as described. You could be taking on a project, which I like with the cheaper offerings, or you might just get a really nice Milsurp.

I have heard about that and I know that other companies out there do similar things. I was actually talking with a gunsmith the other day, he was telling me that a lot of polished turds also came through in the 1960s. I take my chances on milsurps and try to make the best decisions but still get broken/ poor/ corroded stuff every so often. These three picks are what I think may be a better value than other things on their site currently.

On the carcano... i heard a disaster story where at first a guy wanted a long rifle. Not carbine because of cost thus got a carbine anyway. Turns out they forgot to "out of stock" the carbines and bothered to discount the long rifle to whatever the carbine fetch. The long gun eventually arrives and it was in perfect shape with a good bore. Only to find put after disassembly that the receiver has a crack. They ignored the guy's emails and phone calls on the complaints.

That’s awesome, I just saw the K31s that centerfire systems have in stock. Looks like a pretty good deal compared to elsewhere for sure. I also looked on RTI and they appear to be out of stock of their standard listing of K31s. I wonder if people scooped them up after I made this video? 🤔 They only have two that are left and both are individually listed. Kinda pricey though. Also, it is a common misconception that all of RTI’s surplus is in poor condition. The weapons imported from Ethiopia will be of that poor to fair condition but they got their Swiss rifles imported straight from Switzerland, not Ethiopia.
