Thanks G! For those reading this I thought I’d answer again. TT Tournament Series hidden weight jigheads. Other brands are too bulky and rip the plastic easily. Size 2 hook is ideal and a weight of 1/20th - 1/40th

Just watched this even though I only fly fish, but good to know for non fly fishers who jump in my boat, can you do some on KGW and snapper etc
@PaulMalovFishing
@PaulMalovFishing 4 жыл бұрын
Hey Al. Thanks for the watch, I think I’ll definitely do one for Snapper in the future. KGW on lures consistently is a bit tougher. As a guide, the 6” Gulp camo worm slightly cut down has been known to get them, as well as the 2.5-3.5”curl tail grub!

Hey Paul love all your vids mate, top filming and footage you put together. Just wanted to know when referring to zman grubz and slim swimz I see you always stick to motor oil. Is this because you only like these colours for success. I’m just doing a restock on plastics and i am sometimes a colour swap guy to conditions rather then always changing the profile and plastic and just wanted your opinion as buying plastics in all different colours is quite expensive and if you think it’s more successful to change styles rather then colours is more effective?
@PaulMalovFishing
@PaulMalovFishing 3 жыл бұрын
Hey Gavan, motor oil is a colour that i'm really confident with in most water clarity conditions, from super dirty, moderate, all the way up to relatively clear. Only time i won't throw it, is when it's basically 'crystal clear' - those times i'll use something more natural. I tend to keep it pretty simple, if i was going to go for 4 profiles and 3-4 colours, i'd look at a 2" & 2.5" grub, a 2.5" slim swim/paddle tail and a 2-2.5" creature bait (Damiki Monster Miki etc). Colour wise, Motor Oil, Pumpkinseed/Brown, Bloodworm and perhaps a light green/ayu kind of colour. The last question is a bit of a tricky one, it depends on where i'm fishing, time of year. If you have confidence if the lure colour and profile, it could be a location thing - ie. keep moving and casting. Some days you can't switch them on no matter what you do!

@@PaulMalovFishing your the man Paul thanks heaps for the reply and I have to say that the information is all part of my plan although in the past have spent to much money on colours lol. Hope the bump into you one day on the water and banks. Have you ever fished the Werribee river? That’s my local and have a hard time on lures there.

@@gavancassar1366 I'm over on the other side in Moorabbin so Patto is my 'local'. I've fished the Werribee a few times now and haven't had great success. A few here and there but keen to get a bit better on it for sure.

Hey Paul, would you mind providing a basic rundown in choosing Jighead hook size? im a bit unsure on how to judge what jighead size hook is suitable bream Cheers :)
@PaulMalovFishing
@PaulMalovFishing 4 жыл бұрын
Radish hey there! Thought I hit reply on this one earlier but just checked and it didn’t post. So let’s try again. As a guide, I generally follow this: for a 2” plastic I run a size 4 jig head. For a 2.5” grub or slim swim I use a size 2 jig head. For anything 3” and bigger I move up to a size 1 and a 1/0 for 3.75” and bigger. Hope that helps!

@@PaulMalovFishing Cheers .. thanks Paul .. I hear you run double uni knots on Miller rods .. is there an issue with that .. the blurb I saw said Miller rod guides are tuned to FG knot? cheers
@PaulMalovFishing
@PaulMalovFishing 4 жыл бұрын
Steve Teale some of the custom rods I had made, I had Ian put in a slightly larger guide set (especially my heavy rods - Beast Buster). But even with the custom Grub Freaks and new production rods I’ve had no issues. I just keep the number of turns on the leader side down to a minimum (3 turns for 6-17lb and 4 turns for 3&4lb)

@@PaulMalovFishing thanks Paul .. I’ve tried other knots esp with so many micro guides these days but I come back to a tight uni knot ..
