I think this version of the penguin was pretty faithful to the comic version in many ways, it's like heath ledger's joker, all the changes were made in service of the character. Ledger's Joker is the joker not a reinterpretation, it's pretty similar to the character. Same with this penguin, the wardrobe is an improvement although the buildup to him having a different one in the finale more reminiscent of his comic one was good too as well as the scene yall were talking about. His wardrobe is literally perfect in season 1even and other episodes unique even moreso than ledger's joker was to the joker. It fits him so well because he looks like a skinny penguin and dressed in black and white (and purple and other colors) yet the suit stands out from normal suits so he's a freak. Like the Danny Davito penguin suits but even more fitting. I suggest you watch Top 5 Penguin Stories by Mr. Rogues and the Batman TAS episode Birds of a Feather if you despise this character so much, it opened my eyes to how good he was. I'm tired of seeing comments shitting on the fat penguin (mostly from women), it's funny, at the end of the day men are always going to be shamed for their height and weight, and that's exactly why the penguin is so lonely, ruthless and insecure. Danny DaVito's version also paved the way for the insecure version. He was a decent character before but more comedic. By "before" I mean Batman Triumphant and maybe one issue of his original runs where he is shown to be insecure but finds love. It's wholesome.

This show looks actually pretty good, but most of the lines were delivered so awkwardly. It's not that the lines were cheesy, that's how comics are supposed to be and I think that TV adaptation should stick to source. Just bad acting in this case.
