I usually only keep male betta per each of my 5G tanks. But the Celestial Pearl Danios are also really neat, don't grow uncontrollably large, and are Hardy. Also Endlers may be a good choice, or the Microrasbora. Those would be my top picks since a 5G is quite limited in terms of stocking

I have 16 WCMM in my 29 and honestly I'd recommend a big tank for them if you have the means - the more the merrier! Always on the move, super fun to watch, and they spawned the other day (and then ate their kids). Great fish!

I’m curious as to why you would recommend tetras in a 5g considering they’re such active fish and utilize so much space for swimming. Something like a 20 long seems much more ideal. You can definitely keep them alive but it’s living vs thriving. Thoughts?
@tbag74097 жыл бұрын
Austen Whitcher I don't like the 5 gallon tanks for exactly that reason. Too restricted. Nothing looks happy in them. 😕

The same could be said for anything right? Why keep fish in something smaller than 800g? Or 10,0000g or even take them out of the wild? People are going to put fish into containers. These are some recommendations based on the size of container they have their mind set on putting fish in.
@andrewhernandez12757 жыл бұрын
Austen Whitcher some tetras are actually very innactive and just shoal "hang out" barley searching for food at feeding time and even then they just slowly pick around. Some tetras on the other hand are very active as you say small but energetic. Guess we got some advice and got more research to do if we plan on getting those tetras he recommended.
@andrewhernandez12757 жыл бұрын
Ben Jay i agree, i first had my 10g with 5 glowlight and 5 neon tetras. I understood the small space so i created many visual blocks and small areas to swim through and they were very active and always breeding but now that ive got a 40g i have near 10 glowlights and 10 neons with corydoras and a blue gourami and some platys but my tetras now just group up and hang out in groups only interacting with themselves instead of the whole tank which is 4x larger than the original home and their group is larger too but now theyre too shy to swim around. In conclusion, the smaller tank made them more comfortable than the larger tank and they swam more and seemed much more joyful, now they just look lazy.
@tbag74097 жыл бұрын

How many white clouds for a 5 gallon?
@ohrats7316 жыл бұрын
Sparraw I know I’m late but if anyone is curious, I’d say just 5. With a lid. They’re really active for only 5 gallons but hey, I don’t own a fish store 😂
@kellyfarrell49716 жыл бұрын
You said a nice little eco system would be 6 neon green tetras + rosy loaches + ram's horn snail. Can you clarify more? 6 m/f tetra mix? how many loaches and what sex? how many snails? And will it mean I have to change the water more often even in a planted tank?

I have a pet great white. Will he do well in a tank of this size, I really love him and want to do the best for him. Does it also need to be a salt water tank because he lived in the sea or can I get away with fresh water?
@typerexc6 жыл бұрын
It's not hard to add salt to water - I'd stick with that. The only problem I see with the size is if you decide want to add a lady friend for him down the road, but guess you can pick up a 10 later on if so. Either way, be sure to add a Buddha statue and/or temple with bamboo for Zen so he stays chill and doesn't freak out too much, and you should be good.

He'll be fine just water change every 30 seconds...

My first tank (6 gallon Fluval Edge) is almost a year old and when I first added fish, the store told me Scarlett Badis were schooling fish. I got three and put them in with my male Betta. My Betta ignored them but they ended up killing eachother. Makes sense now.

I am surprised you said all these can go in a 5 gallon. I thought the only things that can be in a 5 gallon is 1 betta, or 1 pea puffer, or 1 african dwarf frog, or shrimp, or small snails, and thats about it. I thought green neons wouldn't work as they are active schooling fish so 5 would be too small. The same goes with rosy loaches and the white clouds as they are very active swimmers. Am I wrong about this cory? I know bigger is more ideal but is it okay to keep these in a 5? Would love to have 5 green neons and a few rosy loaches in a 5 or a scarlet badis with 5 green neons. Is this actually viable? Thanks.
@AquariumCoop7 жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t say that you are wrong but many aquarists can definitely keep tanks with these fish.

dajoke24 I have a five and a half gallon with two panda corydoras, an otocinclus, a sunburst platy, a hybrid (fancy/lyretail) guppy, a cherry barb, a long finned zebra danio, and two dwarf frogs. They are all cool with each other. People are over cautious. As long as you watch ammonia/nitrite levels and keep it heavily planted, everyone should be good.

I'm interested in the golden white cloud. How many would be good in a 5 gal tank. Along with maybe a bottom feeder like a rosy loach?

Alright Corey, a kind of different spin on the suggestion at the end of the video... I've heard some fist prefer slightly smaller tanks because they can get 'lost' in the bigger tanks, what are some good nano fish that will school tightly, or show unique behavior in bigger tanks like 55's,75's, etc?

Other population suggestions for a 5 gallon tank: → Poropanchax normani × 5 → Epiplatys annulatus × 1 male, × 3 females → Aphyosemion australe × 1 male, × 1 female → Nothobranchius guentheri × 1 male, × 1 female

I have a 5 gal tank, would like to get a few different fish but keep the numbers down, not too crowded, maybe a couple different type fish and a couple tiny shrimp or something, I was curious what kind of mix of critters could I put together that would get along (cold tank/room temp) and... I can feed the same food so I do not have to get different food for each. For my 9 y/o nephew so want to make it very simple for him. I would like to get him at least a couple of those neon tetras. or maybe Ill go all neon tetras. Depends.

So do the fish in the 5 for 5gal. or 10 for 10gal. need heat? Are there plants you recommend for 5 or 10 gal tanks? Love the videos by the way, fun and great information!
@JAMarlow7 жыл бұрын
For plants there are a lot of options. Just a few are Java Fern, Anubias nana (several types), Bucephalandra Mini (several types), Dwarf Sagittaria, Dwarf Hairgrass Belem, Peacock Moss, Tiawan Moss, Red Root Floaters, Salvinia Cacullata. Then there are the fast growers that you would need to constantly pull out once they get established, such as Java Moss, Guppy Grass, Hornwort, Water Cabbage. And that's just a small sampling. So many others that can grow in a smaller tank.
