Your Grandma Fannie was like my mother in law Vera. I spent a lot of time with her and she taught me so much. She knew every bird, flower, and wild edible. Sadly it will 5 years this month (April) that we lost her to Alzheimer's. There is no harder way to lose someone than that terrible disease that steals the person you love from you. My mother in law was FRUGAL. She was the oldest of 12. They slept 5 kids to a bed with no heat in Wisconsin winters. She was helping log when she was only 5. She was the sweetest, most content person I ever knew. She was so happy with every little thing she had. She loved animals and children and doted on my 2 oldest. Sadly, my younger children didn't get a chance to know her. Thank you for sharing your mama. Blessings, Heidi

Hi Tessie, actually it was my dad that showed me how to live frugally! He did all our grocery shopping. He taught me how to coupon and how to always have a stash of staples stored in the house. He also used to brush our hair and braid it before school if he was home! He taught me how to bake a few things and cook some. My poor mother wasn't a good cook or shopper. With eight children, she also had to work outside the home often. We were poor, but we always had a clean house and food on the table. God bless your mom and dad, what special people they are!

I learned a lot just watching my Moma when she was teaching my sisters. I was Daddy's helper so I learned to do all the things a male child would learn and didn't learn to really cook until Smitty and I married at 29yr old. I still can't keep a neat house to save my life but I can pinch a penny til Lincoln begs for mercy.Memories of how Moma did things has saved me more times than I can count. I can't go in the nursing home so I go round to Moma's window and wave and blow kisses so I can see her smile. Have a blessed day.

Tessie 👋 , guess what ? Our 14 yr old grandson talked Pop into letting him get chickens. We have a good coup but the fence around the lot needs to be dug out with re enforcement wire buried under it to keep the critters from digging under and getting the chickens. So the babies are in a tub in the homeschool part of the house. READY ? He named them , he only got 5...they're all pullets...he named one Tessie 😁 ! You have a cute lil pale yellow leg horn with your name ! And funny thing is he doesn't even know about you ! Just had to tell you. Be favored and blessed my u tube daughter !💖💗💖💗💙💚💙💚

Tessie, I had a great grandma Bessie. She was the canner and grew a garden. She was an amazing woman who raised 11 children of her own and 9 grandchildren including my dad. I was 9 when we moved away so I didn't learn the canning but she taught me to sew and crochet and I've always felt proud when I do things she done.

I no longer have my mama with me but she raised in the old ways. Mama and Daddy grew up poor so I learned how to clean-sew-can-cook and boy was she a good cook. My daddy taught me about life outside the home-work and making/saving money. I was an only child and will never forget when he had me rotate tires on our car. Said he wanted me to know how to change a tire in case I was out alone and had a flat. Sure do miss both of them. You really brought up good memories for me. Thank you Tessie.

Tessie, believe it or not, today my older sister and I were talking about our mother. We have both decided to only remember and cherish the good things. She had a hard life but she tried her best and often did admirably. I decided after talking to my sister that I would make a notebook of all the good, kind and generous memories I could come up with. I think it would heal me of the lack of hugs and affirmations she gave me. Your video today is sort of the same idea I had earlier, just in written format. 🥰

I am so sorry Tessie that you are unable to visit your Mom. I am so sorry that she suffers from dementia, I had no idea because I have not been a subscriber to your channel until recently! I will remember your Mom in my prayers! I love listening to your stories about your family and especially Grandma Fannie, it is such a nice diversion from what is going on around the world. I have fond memories that will forever be imbedded in my brain when my wonderful husband and I spent every single summer in Amish Country in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. There was a restaurant called Good and Plenty and how my husband loved that place, Pennsylvania Dutch cooking is the best. We don’t visit any longer because my amazing husband passed away from Leukemia in 2005. That had to be the saddest year of my life, but my memories of our summer vacations will stay with me forever! Thank you for these videos Tessie, your uplifting videos really keep me happy with this terrible virus that is claiming so many lives. I hope everyone takes a least a minute out of their day to say a prayer for all that remain so sick and for everyone who have lost their lives! Have a lovely evening Tessie and stay safe!❤️

Love this video Tessie. My mom taught me so many life long homemaker skills & values. My great grandmother was an immigrant from Ireland and came to the U.S. to PA. She was born in 1879. My mom grew up with her and my grandmother (born in 1911). The three of them passed on great values and homemaker skills. I imagine, now, what life must have been like for my grandparents immigrating; the turn of the century; the great depression & world wars. I'm finding new ways to repurpose things and love all of the videos you share daily.

My brother is going to see her and help with what she needs done. My mother is 80 and a kidney transplant patient. It’s tough, she seems to not want to eat much anymore which concerns me but I know it’s a part of the disease process sadly. My mother was very frugal also (she had to be with all the medical bills from her and my brother) I learned a lot from her.

My husband and his dad share a birthday (this past Sunday) and all we could do was call him and sing to him. He is 40 mins away so it makes it tough to go just to see him through the window too. Great video Tessie,I no longer have my mom with me,I miss her every day, for some reason lately I I miss her more than ever. I think its because all that is going on in the world. Mom taught me the love of gardening, nothing like have your hands in the dirt, she taught me how to quilt, how to can but most important she taught me about Jesus , and his amazing grace.Love you friend, hang in there someday this mess will be over with then you will be able to give your parents a big hug.

It is good that your mother taught you practical skills. It is unfortunate that nowadays a lot of youth are lacking in life skills. The old ways are so much better in so many ways....I'm sorry you could not visit with your mother due to the pandemic. These are some tough times we have going on....

I’m going through the same situation. My mom is in a home that is just on the other side of town. She has dementia too. They put the home on lock down more than two weeks ago. I would go and visit her once or twice a week but now not at all. One of the nurses has been using her own phone to allow us to face time once a week and that helps greatly but I’m scared that she is going to forget me completely as her dementia progresses and I’m not seeing her in person. She is not alone and is being well cared for and that helps but I miss making her happy with my visits. I am allowed to send notes and care packages. Dementia is hard to deal with as you know and then to deal with this self isolating is making it ten times worse. I hope your mom is doing well and hope that we all will get to be with all of our loved ones soon.

Hi Tessie. What a sweet video ! I’m so sorry you can’t see your moma now ! Maybe soon I hope n pray ! My parents n step father are with the Lord have been for years but they taught me soo much. As a child my step father taught me how to make corners of bed. He was German too n was very clean. My Mom also. Everything had a place n rules of the home had to be strictly followed or else hahahahaha. The or else happened a lot with me as a teen. 😂. Mom didn’t teach me much in kitchen so when I married young it was a mad dash to teach me. She preferred to be alone in kitchen but I have some dishes she taught me like cabbage rolls n stuffed green peppers. I’m praying soo hard this virus goes away. Soo scary. Everyone please practice social distancing n sterilization of everything Becareful n wear gloves when you go out. Sterilization of cans from grocery too n bottom of shoes. Wash your hands a lot. Just a reminder In hopes everyone stays healthy n safe. God bless you Tessie n everyone. Be safe ❤️🙏🤗

Hi there sister Tessie 💙 it's me Shauna.. I did switch accounts.. I was having trouble with my old one 🤷 I didn't have the patience to go in to settings and find out what the problem was.. I might some time but just not now 💚 I'm so sorry to hear about your Mama ❣️ I know it's very hard to watch family who are in pain and suffering 😓 my grandma was very sick I think it was from being diebitic and my uncle had suffered from strokes and heart problems ❣️I know sometimes it's easy to sit and think about everything that has or will happen 💙 but I always remember that there with God the Father 🙏 now and not suffering or in pain there in a better place 💚 I will keep her in my prayers and pray for peace and understanding and comfortable as possible 😇 take care see you soon ❣️😘
