Today I'm avoiding open world games precisely because of the lack of automatic content as well. And when I played the Tribe Nine beta I went in without knowing anything and I was enjoying it and my disappointment when the gacha appeared out of nowhere was immense, the game is really difficult but in a way that I think it will be a problem for f2p players, because it seemed very unbalanced since the enemies seem like a damage sponge that can give you HK at any time (It happened to me on the first boss of the game with the initial team before releasing the gacha, I died more than 10 times because of HK, besides that you can see the bodies of the players who faced the Boss before on the floor, and there was a pile of bodies)

The free tension card that comes with the free starter character is pretty good, but the problem is the stamina system that they put in the demo round 2. My most anticipated right now are: 1. Chaos Zero Nightmare: this is the one gacha game that I expect to take a long term slot in the 2 to 4 games that I allow myself to play at a time. Cards are such a good way to design combat and character abilities, and the setting and story looks very intriguing. I am a bit worried about how deep they seem to be going on fan service though (not bad on its own, but can be a sign devs feel the need to put less effort into other parts of the game and feel like they can get away with more monetization). 2. Magia Exedra: I don’t trust it, but I want it to be good. Madoka Magica is one of my favorite franchises of all time (I have read almost every manga, in addition to watching both shows). If it is even just an average game that has the feel of PMMM, I’ll be happy. 3. Black Beacon: Diablo gameplay gacha with a Nier Automata art style. I’m in to give it a chance, though I don’t usually play action gacha. 4. Duet Night Abyss: if the gameplay is as good as the trailers, this could be the one that gets me both into action gacha and gacha on pc (instead of mobile). 5. Viridity Dreamland/Quilongchao: Viridity Dreamland interested me in 2d sides rolling gacha. Quilongchao from this video looks like it will be good competition. I will only end up sticking with one at most.

i always wonder why there's so many companies scrambling to make open world action RPG gacha games. like, they take a ridiculous amount of time out of your day, definitely more than the average working adult can cover while maintaining the rest of their life. genshin released during covid where full workdays weren't a thing, but now there's so many open world gacha games and so little time for players to engage with them. this became very apparent to me on the release of WuWa, which basically released with an uncapped daily productivity via the echo farming system. the result? if you wanted to keep up with the pace of the game, your expected to invest multiple hours each day, or otherwise entire weeks per cycle, on a gacha game of all things. we're at a point where, if your playing on mobile, there's a good chance you don't have enough battery life to complete your daily routine in one go. the open world gacha game playerbase is incredibly finite, there are only so many people who are able to engage in the microtransaction elements while also having enough time to dump into the game, much less the 2-3 you'd be able to for other types of gachas.

NTE has the most draw for me explicitly because of the potentially more ethereal vibe of its supernatural/metaphysical level design that feels straight out of something equally mind bending like Control or Penguindrum. Add that on top of the life simulator elements of driving, housing and the supposed contract system it’s promising with city exploration and navigation…. I’m cautiously optimistic. That said, I’m already a grand in the hole on Zenless and the second that game further fleshes out its own life simulator as-exits is the day I no longer need another game like it.

As a day 1 Uma Musume player, definetly one of the better simulation games I've played; even outside of gacha. The writing is very good (shockingly good sometimes) and all the events are voiced. The models are very high quality, with lots of great animations and the idol performances are great too (these are very skippable if you don't like them; in fact most of the idol stuff is pretty much only background that you can completely ignore; safe for some scenarios). Great for casual playing and definetly something I'd recommend checking out; that said, the daily grind/gameplay loop is genuinely terrible. Even when you know what you are doing it takes around 20+ minutes and there's no autoplay, so you have to manually mash through the scenario every day (WR for the first scenario is 7m30s, with no care for anything but just mashing the same buttons over and over), you end up with a mediocre horse and then you also have to do your daily races and such. I'd be really surprised if it maintains a healthy playerbase in the west; without the close relation that japanese players have to horse races and gambling I don't think many people would have stuck around; it really doesn't respect your time. People complain about genshin commissions yet I can probably do all hoyoverse dailies before finishing Uma dailies. It also has PvP but it matches you with people around your strength so you never really match with whales (some events do), but you can easily just ignore PvP and focus on whatever you want.

As western devs found out the hard way, there's only so much "daily engagement" to tap out there and getting sufficient momentum to maintain a live service game is not a given. So I think there can be too many open world gacha games if there isn't the user base out there to support that many. I'm currently daily active in 3 gachas (Azur Lane, Genshin, Infinity Nikki) as well as others on less frequent basis. Even without a day job, finding time to progress all in a timely fashion is a challenge. Some may fail not because they are bad, but from too much supply. I forgot about Uma Musume. They're taking their time to get it out globally. Azur Promilia is most interesting to me as I'm curious what relation it may have to Azur Lane. Hopefully they can also avoid a Palworld situation in gaining Nintendo's attention.

Using DD as an example for tone for Chaos zero is a far cry from what I've seen. The feel and theme is more of Project moons gory and hopeless feel, and not the dreading, the circle is closig in and stressful of DD. I’m most looking forward to the global release of Persona 5 Phantom X. I have played the Korean version ever since it launched alongside the Chinese and Taiwan releases and I enjoy it even if its only really playable thanks to the translator mod and not a proper localization. While it isn’t as great graphically as the newest gachas it has a great battle system that feels much closer to a console JRPG since its just slightly simplified Persona 5 with the addition of ults and navigator skills. Its got proper large dungeons, its very generous, and a decent story so far. And because its fully autoable and not an open world, its much less of a time sink. With a proper global release I can actually understand the story and dialogue properly too. Its just a shame theyre waiting until 2025 to release it Also you left out mentioning Infinity Nikki with the other open world games. Yes its not targeting the exact same demographic as those games but it is still an open world gacha. And the problem with everyone making these open world games is that most are just trying to ride off Genshins coattails, very few feel like they are trying to do something different like Infinity Nikki having a different artstyle/demographic focus/gachaing for clothes or feel like they’re all similar like having three urban settings open worlds. At some point there’s going to be some big crash and burns because the market can only sustain so many of them at once.

How's the gacha in Phantom X? The other SMT gacha game just left a bad taste. Specifically, how's the persona fusing and such?
@DigitalStarry17 күн бұрын
@ Personas are the 3 stars in the gacha, but you also get them by random chance after defeating them in palaces or after beating their grind spots enough times or through fusion. You get coins after fusing or summoning them once and use that as fusion materials. You can also get generic coins to get coins of some other personas in the shop. Overall its pretty divorced from the gacha, even the ones you pull from gacha can be gotten elsewhere. The gacha is for pulling characters and weapons instead. They’re also wholly separated into their own banners, you can’t pull a weapon on a character banner for example. This means every ten pull on a character banner will always give you a character. Pity also carries over like most gachas these days. Characters have a limited and standard banner. The limited banner rotates every two weeks with two different systems. The original system was a Genshin style 50/50 at 80 pulls with soft pity at 70. The new system has pity at 110 pulls but at 110 you are guaranteed to pull the character on rateup and every 165 pulls gives a random standard character. Pity is not shared between the two systems. Standard banner has a selector at 300 pulls but otherwise it just gives you a random standard roughly every 70-80 pulls. Weapon banner has only one system, the 50/50 one. But you can pick two standard five star weapons to lose the 50/50 to and pity is at 70 pulls and pulls are 33% cheaper. What makes it work is its really generous. I’ve seen some FTP pull every limited character. I have pulled on 9 character banners and their weapons since launch in April and I still have over 300 pulls saved.
@AIIXIII017 күн бұрын
@@DigitalStarry character banners? How does that work? Is the character all from Persona series or just P5 or mixed P5 and some original characters? Its kinda intriguing. When im doing the first story (alongside with the boss from the video shown which is the flying bird thing) sometimes the controls just feels stiff and feels hard to traverse through or its just my skill issue on it. Maybe phone diff too considering it lags a bit sometimes. The combat is your typical combat side scrollers with skills and that's about it...? Since i know nothing about the Chinese Language meaning i can't read anything in the game. So i have no idea about the story but it does have very nice presentation. The 2d Combat seems still to be half baked so if that gets better overtime then I'm definitely gonna devote more time to it. For now my current progress is first Story quest and that's about it. Will play it more after seeing it on the Top 1 spot to see what it offers more.

I just want a game without a weapon banner but one can only dream
@the7blargs18 күн бұрын
Wuwa at least is always guaranteed weapon instead of losing a 50/50. But yeah, they gotta squeeze your wallet besides just character banners.
@VeliaOwO18 күн бұрын
There are many gacha games without weapon banners! I‘d recommend Reverse 1999, you don’t even have any gear RNG there :D

Gonna be honest I don't think Endfield will release in 2025. As you said the Beta is in January and I just have my doubts that feedback from that Beta can be properly implemented in just 4-5 months. In addition I also think that Hypergryph/Gryphline should probably aim for a release that's relatively far away from Genshins and Wuwas anniversaries. Otherwise they might risk getting overshadowed. PS: can I ask where you got that information on a release towards the middle of 2025? I try to keep up with the game to the best of my abilities and so far I have never heard of that kind of intention.
@sli13618 күн бұрын
Dev interview last year after global tech test did mention 2025, and with global beta in Jan 2025, chances of fall release seems possible if nothing major happens (typically a gap of half year between beta and pre-release test with monetization, and only couple of more months for official release)

MMO and base building are something that never grew on me, I prefer single player campaign mode with a bit of co-op features sprinkled on it, WuWa or Genshin. But MMO gacha games are big no to me, I hate seeing my screen cluttered with numbers or effects. NTE/Ananta looks promising to me, let's see which direction they choose to stick with.

I'm honestly surprised uma musume is not tossed into the honorable mention lol with how "niche" it is that works (in my own observation at least) only because horse racing is just that popular in jp.

Uma Musume would have done much better if they actually released it in the west when the anime was a hit. Even the original game was supposed to be released in 2018 (the year the anime aired) but it got delayed until 2021. And now they are releasing it another 3-4 years later for global.

Out of curiosity, are you planning on releasing a 2024 Nikke re-cap, like you did with 2023?
@Pseychie_NIKKE17 күн бұрын
I actually had plans to, but I feel I took too many breaks this year and didn’t feel like catching up with researching all the info. I still play nikke though, loving the Rapi event right now

Im so excited for tribe nine, got to play the beta for 3 days and absolutely loved the story, the baseball debate mechanic had such a strong hint of Danganronpa i was elated. As opposed to others i found the fighting to be fine but i definitely wouldnt mind more complexity.

I am very skeptical about umamusume. Its getting old and targets pretty specific audience. Best pvp gatcha would still be dogshit balance wise when looking outside of gatcha space and a whale parade.

@cartoonvideos518 күн бұрын
What content? It's largely an idle game, and any "endgame" modes usually just are whale bait or reset spamming RNG. There isn't much to say about units either.

Arknights Endfield and Azur Promilia for me if it's release in 2025
@asterr00118 күн бұрын
Definitely looking forward to Chaos Zero Nightmare. I don't really care about Open World Action games. Especially in the Mobile/Gacha game space. For me, if I am playing a game on my phone, I'd much rather prefer a turn-based or Tower Defense style of gameplay. Something I can pause if out with friends or doing something else in the mean time. If it's not on my phone, then I want a single player experience with full Character Customization. Something with a immersive world that makes me feel a part of it and its story. Tower of Fantasy was the only game that came close to what I was looking for, and then ruined it with its later updates. So CZN is the only thing that even has my attention. And MAYBE Tribe Nine for its Danganronpa style.

Will TRY Endfield, Promilia and Ananta but I dont like action open world much, so I know I won't stay. Definitely interested in Duet Night Abyss. I played Uma Musume long ago and dropped it in 5 months. Fun roguelitr game, but it became a chore until a power creep updates. Currently only playing R1999 and GFL2 and I want more but there arent much interesting UNIQUE upcoming game.
