My top 5 Sailrite must haves

In today's video I share with you my top 5 Sailrite must haves, 1 being the Sailrite Fabricator lol She is a beast of a machine and I don't know how I sewed without her. Second is the Sailrite zipper foot, you can certainly get away with out this however for closer sewing and better precision I'd highly recommend it. Thirdly, the cording foot is great for adding that nice additional touch to your bags or seat cushions. Then I do recommend getting their thread burner, if you didn't know, when using bonded nylon or bonded poly thread you need to burn the ends so that the thread doesn't unravel. Lastly, their vinyl looks like a quality vinyl to work with and I can't wait to grab some for myself!

You're wonderful. I was on the line between buying an industrial Juki or Sailrite, after watching your videos I went with Sailrite. I'm so happy I decided to go with Sailrite. The customer service has been amazing and the number of videos to walk you through the machine is fantistic. You inspire me with your bag-making and amount of knowledge. The piping foot can also do a great job on zippers. The zipper coil rides in the slot.

That thread cutter/burner/zapper looks like the one I ordered from Amazon for $30. I tried the cheaper ones and they both just broke immediately so I returned them. This one (like you have there) is a LOT more beefy and hasn't broken on me yet. I agree with wanting more storage in general on industrial tables. Seems like there's a lot of wasted potential there. I do have some magnetic hooks I use to hang small rulers and even bags and things from the legs on mine (Thor 1541s). As for bobbin storage, I use an m class bobbin case I bought on amazon and it actually came filled with bobbins that work beautifully in my machine. It's also slim enough to fit in the drawer on the machine, so it's PERFECT. I love it! Thanks for sharing your experiences and insights. I'm a nerd and gobble up sewing content even when I don't quite have the motivation to sew.

When I work that's all I watch lol You really do learn a lot from watching, even if you don't do the thing, you still learn the techniques for doing something else in the future. I'm happy with my thread burner, she's bulky but I have small hands lol Still live it better than my Amazon find.

For the bobbins, use the tiny little braid elastics that look like scrunchies to keep them from unraveling.

What thread are you using and have you had to adjust both top and bobbin tensions?

When I first got it I kept messing with it because I was still using the same thread I used for my domestic. Then I got smart and got tex 70 from Sunny Sewing supplies. You do have to adjust when changing it out but adjust a little here and little there and you'll get it ;-)

Hi. Snow Day here in Iowa and binging youtube while I tidy up my space. You asked about bobbin storage. I prewind bobbins and put them in coin holder from a coinshop. I find the quarter size works great for my green Viking bobbins. I use my label maker to note the color number and manufacture/thread type. Buying in bulk from Amazon was too many containers. I found buying them from the Coin shop to be about the same price and I did not have surplus. When i have bobbins left over from a project and want to keep the spool and bobbin together, I use a long golf tee to store the bobbin and thread together upright.

That's a great idea, I hadn't thought of that! I actually had a viewer send me a sample of what they make and it was a magnetic bobbin holder but that's a great idea as well!

Great video! I love Sailrite. Their how-to videos are amazing and I have learned so much. I have also purchased sewing notions. I will look for a sample pack; like you, I am very tactile.
