Missed this one Henry. How did that happen? I've been on photography holidays up in Scotland. Ardnamurchan, Trossachs, Wester Ross, Outer Hebs and Ullapool. In those areas in the same order as listed above my favourites were Sanna Bay, Loch Ackray, Gruniard Bay (and Torridon) Harris & Lewis, Assynt and the coast at Clachtoll, oh there's stacks of stuff in that wild area. If you're passing Killin the Dochart waterfalls are super. I love the coastline up Arisaig way. You mentioned Glen Affric. Was there as a teenager. Hopefully I can go back one day. I could ramble on like a maniac here! Last summer I was at Loch Arkaig so remote but there were ospreys there, view down the Loch was brill. I know a little bit of the east coast. Dunnottar Castle nr. Stonehaven and Anstruther on Fife great. If i get more ideas I will send them in. Bye!

It was your video of Glencoe that got me following your journeys. Couldn't agree more with your choices . To have Irn bru , Glencoe and square sausage all mentioned in this vid has got me yearning for all three ! Loved this Henry, well done.

Absolutely agree with you about Loch Maree, Torridon, etc. Over many years, the area around Loch Maree has become like second home to us. Done lots of hillwalking there. Twice on Slioch, among others. And wild camping in the hills there is just fantastic!

Waking up in yout tent on Beinn a'Chrulaiste opposite Buachaille Etive mor is the best ever view in Scotland. A starry night with an inversion in the morning if you are as lucky as I was. Finnich Glen near killearn is also an unusual and photographic gorge with narrow sides, red water and moss. A few other places which I can't tell you about for fear of excessive popularity!

Hi Henry, thanks for hanging in there, creating content and sharing. I really enjoyed this. I've been to the Highlands about 8 times and after my last visit I said to a mate Glencoe is probably my favorite bit. Anyway, here's some recommendations for the rest of Scotland Skye - the view of the Black Cuillin across the sea from Elgol is phenomenal. Also look up a wee hill called Sgurr Na Stri, some people say it has the best view in the UK. Then there's the old man of storr, the Quiraing, Faery Glen... I could go on, I'm sure you're already aware of how packed Skye is for scenery. Assynt - If there's an area that might edge out Glencoe for me then it's Assynt. Stunning white beaches (I stayed at a campsite next to Achmelvich beach, climbed a little hill for the sunrise - lava red sky with silhouetted mountains) and weird and wonderful mountains standing apart from each other... Suilven! A magical mountain Applecross and the Bealach Na Ba - maybe the best drive in Britain I could go on and on! Galloway is well worth a visit, darkest night skies in Britain! I camped there for a few nights to enjoy the Perseus meteor shower. Glen Trool area has a bit of a Highlands feel. I remember Clatteringshaws loch being very pretty as it was so still and reflected a very dramatic evening sky. Enough rambling. Keep hanging in there

Henry a lovely endorsement of some of my very favourite places in the world. Loch Coulin in particular is my go to place for a lovely long dog walk. Good for both the body and soul. If you are ever in the area again you should try the Beinn Eighe Mountain Trail which affords fantastic views across Loch Maree towards Slioch. If you have the time try the far North West and the walk to Sandwood Bay. A stunning location that rewards every step of the eight mile walk. Keep up the good work and thank you for providing the inspiration to pick up my DSLR again.

Got my interest right at the start with the Irn Bru! You are correct, the taste isn't as good with the alternative sweeteners, but they do still produce the old recipe. It is more expensive, but nice for a treat. I've only seen it in glass bottles, so don't think it comes in cans. Your choice of locations is great, but it's really impossible to pick just a few. So many beautiful locations in Scotland. Glen Affric is lovely, Torridon and the surrounding area, is one of my favourite places in the world! Gorgeous scenery. Love to go walking there. Glencoe and Skye are favourite places too. (Irn Bru and square sausage in the same video - respect! 👍)

Great places Henry and the Coulin Estate is somewhere I'll keep in mind along with Harris & Lewis BUT I don't think many photographers would leave the Isle of Skye out of their UK Top 5 never mind Scotland. yes it's been photographed a lot (like Glencoe) but it's drop dead gorgeous and still possible to avoid crowds if you get up early and avoid the main tourist season. Was due to be there now before the Lockdown hit :-( Oh and sorry Irn-Bru = Disgusting!!! lol

Love the top 5 recommendations Henry. But are they only for "you guys"? Are they not for us gals too? Might they be for "all of you folks" or some other verbiage. "You guys" is offensive. Nonetheless, love your photography and your video and the recommendations. Thanks, girl! Henry girl! Ok, how does it feel to be called a girl? Not so good, eh? That's how it feels for lots of us to be called a "guy".

I know what you mean about glen coe, there is the amazing scenery but also something more. I always think of the history of the place, that huge battle, and its name meaning the glen of weeping. It is like looking back in time almost because it has not changed since that time, I've been back almost every year for 30 years now even before i got a camera. Another place I'd love to go to again, (never been with a decent camera) is elgol on skye and on to loch coruisk either by boat trip from elgol or walking from sligachan. Really enjoy your videos henry, lets hope we are allowed out with our cameras again soon😊

I love hearing you talk about Scotland, your Glencoe video is where I first saw your videos. My favourite village in the world is a tiny one hidden in the Lowther Hills, on the Southern Upland Way, called Wanlockhead. It's the highest village in Scotland and is littered with the ruins of old lead mining buildings and equipment. A short climb from the village itself takes you to the tops of the hills, where some of of my favourite views in Scotland are. Seeing the ruined industrial buildings hidden deep in the hills is just amazing to me. I'm sure there are some incredible compositions around here

I had to subscribe, it's hard not to warm to someone who is so passionate about my home. You really should go to the Grampian mountains, or over to Kenmore, it's stunning. Why don't you just move up? you've seen it here, it's like Narnia, and we have the right to roam act, which as you know, means you can go anywhere, Scotland will reward those, who take her into her heart, come on up, you're more than welcome :)

Another good video Henry. I have to agree with your choices and in particular with Mull and Iona. I have spent a lot of time at those two locations and they hold a special place in my heart. I was surprised that Skye wasn’t one of your choices though but maybe that’s because it’s probably one of the most popular places and therefore has lost a little of its uniqueness. No matter, keep them coming and hopefully after Boris’s announcement you can start getting out and about again.

Another place which I find incredibly beautiful is The Arrochar Alps Henry. Only an hour or so from Glasgow but with some stunning scenery mainly dominated by “The Cobbler” and Ben Ìme. You can also walk in from the West side of Loch Lomond where you can access Ben Vorlich and Ben Vane, both of which give spectacular views from their summits. Hope you’re enjoying the freedom to get out again in England. I’m hoping we won’t be too far behind up here in Scotland.

Great video-Mull is one of my all time favourites! The beaches around Erraid opposite Iona are also stunning! My family are massive hiking, photography Scotland fans! We head up usually to the West Coast and the islands every Easter and Summer. Sadly missed our trip this year due to coronavirus, but hoping we might make it back in July. Last Summer we explored the far North West and were blown away- very wild. Sandwood Bay nearly brought me to tears-I wrote a post over on my photography blog-www.sarahclewsphotography.com/blog/2019/8/1/hiking-to-sandwood-bay . so many photo opportunities here-I'm dying to go back!

Hi Henry,One place I went to in Scotland a long time ago was in Moray. It is on the river Findhorn and its called Randolph`s leap, I took some pictures there on a very cheap and nasty instamatic camera which was awful. If my memory serves me well there is some nice forestry and scenery as well. Now that I`m into photography I hope to go back someday and photograph it properly.

as an English woman who has lived in Scotland for the better part of 20 years I can't recommend Scotland enough! I have lived in Edinburgh mostly but now find myself in the Scottish Borders. It doesn't matter where you travel in Scotland you will always be astounded by the beauty. If you ever get the chance to visit one of the best waterfalls in the south of Scotland then Grey Mare's Tail in Dumfriesshire is mind blowing. I never tire of visiting the area.

Great video Henry, I agree your 5 selections are awesome places to visit. My family and I have been visiting the Northwest Highlands for over 25 years now, there are so many exceedingly beautiful places to visit, it's really hard to keep the list so small, so I am going to name two. The road from Fort William to Sheil bridge, is a delight to drive, with so many places along that road, you could spend a month out just trying to see them all. My favourite, is the five sisters of Kintail, leading to Loch Duich, the whole area is spectacular, and you can spend many an hour taking in all that this place as to offer. The other place I would highly recommend, is the Applecross mountains pass, which is accessible from the side of Loch Carron, top of the Lochalsh peninsula. You travel over the mountains on a winding single track road, that falls away to your left with a severe drop of about 1000ft in places. They have put up barriers as quite a few cars have gone over the edge, but when we first went up there, about 1995, there were no barriers, just a scary careful drive, lol. The view from the top is breathtaking, you can see right across to Skye and the Cuillin's. Keep the video's coming, it won't be long before we can all get out and enjoy our beautiful country again!
