Loving your list so far, right up my "no peat" alley. Funny thing, i recently ordered the Aberour 18 bottle from my local store website (with old Double Cask image), thinking its was the double cask. To my suprise when I went to pick it up, i sensed something different about it, but didn't realized it until I got home that it was the Double Sherry, not the Double cask. What a lovely surprise. I am in heaven, loving this new expression. Since my discovery of Aberlour this year and tasting all the expressions, they beat out most of my side-by-side comparison with other same age or similar specs scotch, Aberlour has become my favorite Scotch brand. Can't wait to cross the pond and visit the Aberlour Distillery some day. Cheers, mate!

Ever tried j.P wiser’s rare casks series 23y 59,9% That must be my biggest surprise for 2022. Didn’t have any high thoughts at all, but boy was I wrong to judge that book by its cover, a really really good whiskey and for the price of 60£ it’s a steal, so after opening the first one I ran and bought me a second one for the shelf 😂

Had 2 bottles of the older bottling of Deanston 18 (the one in your picture) I got for $65usd each as a close out in 2018. While it is a quality Whisky I didn't really connect with it. Just personal taste. As for Arran 18 just love it! You can hear angles singing when you take a sip! The older version of of it was quite nice too but not the bright sherry bomb that the new version is.

In Minnesota USA: Deanston 18 is $160 USD, Arran 18 $150 Tamdhu 15 $125 Aberlour 18 $150 I'm not buying any of these overpriced whiskies! This industry is really gauging consumers
@silverlochwhiskyreviews61572 жыл бұрын
It’s the American retailers who are price gauging the American customers. If you look up the prices of these whiskies in the UK, they aren’t bad.
@theswag59972 жыл бұрын
Part of that gouging has to do with tariffs and taxes, so don't forget to blame the government.
@MaltActivist2 жыл бұрын
I'm afraid Silver Loch is right. These whiskies are quite accessible in the UK where I buy from. North America is too big and has way too many variants in taxes for me to ever get a median price.
@silverlochwhiskyreviews61572 жыл бұрын
@@theswag5997 I understand the 3 tier system, tariffs and taxes … even so, most American retailers (liquor stores … not talking about the likes of Costco which is still reasonable) markup more than the standard 30% which is built into the RRP (recommended retail price).
@theswag59972 жыл бұрын
@@silverlochwhiskyreviews6157I'm not arguing that retailers don't gouge; I've seen a plenty of that. But taxes and tariffs certainly contribute to the price discrepancy when looking at Scotch in the UK versus Scotch in the US.
