Eagle Rare 17 vs Eagle 10 is definitely not the same dude lol I agree that the 10 is a good whiskey and $1,500 is far too much for the 17, but it’s 100% not the same whiskey lol

Paused again at 8:02 and I have to say that I enjoyed 7 or 8 small glasses of Balvenie about a week ago and found that from the 12 double wood, 12 new, 14 caribbean, 15 Madeira, 16 French Oak, 18 Pedro Ximinez, 21 Port Wood and 25, I found the 18 PX to be almost the best out of the batch. Obviously not better than the 25 but if you can grab the 18 PX for around $200 in a duty free, it's an absolute banger in the travel exclusive Balvenie series. I found it to be better than all the Balvenie's I have other than the 25 year.

Since you had mentioned the Glenmorangie 18 year Extremely Rare in this video, I was hoping you'd pour a small glass and compare the two. I'm going to buy a 19 year travel exclusive but I'm just wondering if it's better or the same as the 18 year.

5:20 I had to pause and agree wholeheartedly that after I open many of my bottles and pour out the neck pour, I let them sit a few months at least before returning to them. Almost all of the whiskies I've done this with have opened up spectacularly and raised several points in my rating because so!

Imported scotch whiskies are way cheaper here in Japan compared with the same product in UK. Bottom shelf Cutty Sark (70cl) is under a fiver.

What 18-25 yr old scotches that are still relatively affordable can you recommend that represent the age factor the best . IE , notes you could only get from older scotch.

Dude, I’m pretty sure there is a problem when you taste 2 from the actual retail bottle and one from a 1oz sample bottle. Yes everyone has a different palate but there are dozens of reviews of the Van Winkle by other reviewers and NO ONE says what you are saying. So unless you think you know better the 4 dozen others I’d refrain from saying all the negative shit about the Van Winkle. It just doesn’t jive with reality. You need to taste it from an actual full size bottle.

I mean the price for a PVW15, for that price you have the pick of the litter of an whole array of tremendous old age Scotches. Not that Age necessarily means great whisky but, for the bigger brands they sure signifiy quality. Not something the pappy could live up to, too me. If had a glass of pappy 10. But yeah, to be fair the Buffalo Trace distilliries MSRP for these bottles are waaaaay less.

Glenlivet 18 is like $150 in my part of USA. I enjoyed it when it was $130 about 2 years ago.

you can try the Laphroaig 10 cask strength . It is more complex, lingers longer in the palate and super yummy than the regular 10.
