The One Piece fandom is so hard to get into because you have to watch SO MUCH just to understand what is going on. I don’t doubt that Luffy is a good written character. I mean bro has 1000+ episodes of development time. But I don’t mean to piss some people off because I know one piece fans are hardcore but I honestly just stay the amount of episodes and got overwhelmed and chose not to watch it. It there comes a show that takes out the fillers and the unnecessary stuff and shortens it to like 100 episodes or something I’ll watch it but bro my brother and I watched around 75 episodes and was so done because we weren’t even close to anything people where taking about. I would honestly wait like 6-8 months like I did for an hour or so movie like aot to get larger chucks of chapters.

I love Light Yagami more than Lelouch… he has more subtle characterization and nuance taken out of the anime. Stuff gets looked over quite often and contradictions are still made to this day about Light. The fact that people still constantly debate about who he is and what his intentions are 20 years later speaks volumes. I’ve watched Code Geass and watched and read Death Note. I like Light more since you have to read between the lines… specifically about how his motivation partly comes from his father being a policeman and he hates seeing him made out to be a fool. He wanted his father’s approval and for him to believe in Kira’s ideology. It actually really upset him when his father stated Kira is evil. Also, when Light’s father dies, Light feeling bad is not an act. People make him out to be more heartless than he is… he was completely traumatized when he killed the first two people with the Death Note. This whole time he’s not really convincing the world, deep down he’s convincing himself that what he did was right. Because really Light was just a coward who couldn’t admit he felt wrong about killing people in the first place and accepting guilt. It had to be “justified.” I love ranting about Light Yagami lol.

People be choosing dark mc(s) over well written pg mc(s) everyday, and i am not saying the list is wrong, but it feels like it's forced with dark/non shonen(mostly) mc(s) luffy naruto ichigo kaneki asta thorfinn kira johan and ayanokuji are my favourite characters(am still reading vegabond , will give him a place in this after finishing) , my top are mixed with their development , desires and impact on the real society of our world. No one can say naruto didn't had the most impact on real life, thorfinn may give you the 'I have no enemies' vibes, but who actually made you never give up was naruto. Kaneki maybe suffered too much but he wasn't the one thought the real life people how much of a fun life is when you don't care about the future, past , just enjoy present and protect present. Johan maybe is smarter than most of the anime characters(arguably he is the number 1) but kira was the one who thought us that one single mistake actually can cause multiple causes in your life. I am not shitting on dark anime mc(s) but it's the nowadays other people are shitting on light anime mc(s) and if you forgot that my favorite mcs are mix of dark and light anime and was going to write a reply to me telling how I am wrong, then sorry that you arw like this
