I Alex's double sided nature. Going with LPS this time as there easier, but going with Goni's because he loves them but there more diffficult. Like to save money on some things like dosing chemicals, but goes and buys 5 different foods for 1 fish at any cost. It captures the emotional roller coaster of the hobby to a T! Please don't ever change Alex. Very much appreciate your insights

I have a scoly with bright green, yellow, and red with some hints of purple. It almost looks like a digital image. It's amazing, you'd really like it.

I have a beginner reef tank, but keeping torches always was easy for me! Idk how, i have no dosing, sometimes parameter swings, and keeping chalice for instance wasn't what successful. But my Golden Graal torch grew from 3 heads, to the whole 21! In just a year!

Wilsoni is an under appreciated LPS. I love mine and cannot wait to acquire a few more specimens.

Good timing for me to see this, I'm setting up my wee 20g again soon and LPS are my favourites. I'm a suckered for dragon soul anything 😂 good to see dragon soul torches have come down in price a bit 😂

Great vid Alex, definitely some gorgeous corals there. Mad how all our tanks differ isn't it? I can grow torches and chalice like theres no tomorrow, but find the bullet proof "favia" incredibly difficult 😄

1:40 There are actually no Favia in the hobby, as they are a West-Atlantic genus, while (almost) all the stony corals in the hobby are from the Indo-Pacific. 4:32 Most Fungia in the hobby are actually Cycloseris. True Fungia are pretty rare hobby-wise. 5:06 What we call "Bernardpora" in the hobby are not actually Bernardpora, but small-polyped Goniopora. True Bernardpora are rare in the hobby, and usually come in dull red or green.

Nice I'm a very very lazy hobbyist. I hardly ever test anything and don't dose anything at all! I Feed the fish and do a water change, using natural seawater, every couple of weeks. I have a selection of branching hammers (one might be a Frammer?) and a couple of Candy Canes. They are all thriving and look great. Making sure the flow is not too strong seems to be a key factor?? I am also in the process of switching to a bigger tank with good intentions re the monitoring etc and will definitely try a couple at the easier end of your list! I have no intention of trying any SPS as LPS just look so much better than temperamental twigs IMO

Well. I have everything on the list. Guess I beat the game 😂😂

Any tips on water parameters for goniopora? I have one frag that has not seemed very happy the couple months I’ve had it. All my other LPS look great, including torches, but the Goni stays pretty clamped up even in a lower light and flow section of my tank. Love all your videos!!! Thank you!
@fluppie19dw4 ай бұрын
Just keep the frag in low light low flow, and try to keep your parameters stable, Works for me so far! They will adapt to different conditions when they are a bit bigger from my experience

jack o lanten lepto and Gonis are def in my top 5! I have a mycedeum chalice I just cant get to thrive! its not died but its not happy, and everything else is fine!
@NuckChorris814 ай бұрын
Lepto’s seem to always want to bleach for me unless they’re way in the shade then they just exist with no growth.

@@NuckChorris81 that's weird mine are in full light! albeit at the bottom of my tank, so a decent amount of light will have dissipated but they are growing really well

I had a bernardpora from prestige reef he really thrived about a third from the top in loads of flo and light with long lashing polyps, then i moved him and rearranged my tank and he promptly died he was nearly half the size of tennis ball 😢 my wifes favorite. Gutted two years i had him.

Oh Great! Wise! And Properly Monetized One! I am just an average bloke from the US. I applaud your rise. I have followed you When I first entered the reefing Hobby. The prices of coral continue to rise. Only the elite can kill them. My parameters are 8.2 PH and 1.23-1.25 every single day and hour. The water teems with pods and beneficial critters. Yet I just have a few softies and Duncan's. They live with 3 fish. The flow is excellent. All critters thrive
