You got me into 'Blame!' by Tsutomu Nihei. I am absolutely in love. For the sci-fi architects out there, I would like to suggest CJ Lim's 'Inhabitable Infrastructure'.

Ooh thanks for reminding me. I had Ihabitable Infrastructure in my "to read" list for a while now. Will finally actually read it!

As a student of ancient architecture i was impressed with your mention of Plato, and not the usual (athough no less interesting) Vitruvius.

Could you elaborate a bit why you recommend reading philosophy in the native tounge? Won't there be some things lost in translation? Great video by the way!
@DesignGoBrr Жыл бұрын
Things get lost in translation when... translation happens. If the author wrote something in chinese, and you've read it in chinese - then there's no translation happening. If you read the english translation of a chinese book, then you're dealing with a translators interpretation of the text. If the translator is good - then it's great, but if the translator is bad, then the book becomes bad.

Thanks so much for the recommendations! I wonder who are your favorite architects and what projects/case do you recommend studying!😏
@DesignGoBrr3 жыл бұрын
Hmmm really depends on many factors. Theoretical or practical architects for instance. I really like listening to Go Hasegawa, i think he's great. Greg Lynn, Ma Yasong (Mad architects), Sanaa, Eisenman, Lebbeus Woods.. All of them have made some really cool things or came up with really cool ideas.
