I just want to say Thank you! If one more person mounts a tv above a fireplace I’m going to lose it. I don’t know who started that trend but they can take it back.

I have enormous respect for David Netto. His knowledge of architectural and design history is so thorough and his way of speaking of it is very approachable. I always learn something when I read or listen to an interview with him.
@jstokes9 күн бұрын
David Netto has swagger and style. He is incredibly versed in interior design, not only for today, but also the lineage to the great designers that informs all interior design: Bestigui, Jacques Garcia , Billy Baldwin's room at La Fiorentina shown in the video. He has great advice. I hope you bring him back!

Short video but a lot to unpack. I remember my mom’s house was mostly furnished with MCM pieces but she had a coffee table and console table that looked like they came out of a castle, and sitting on the console table was a large tramp art church with working clock that survived a house fire and had char marks on the back. Those kinds of things are what excite me when it comes to design and seriously what I’m missing

Expected him to be smug but he surprised me. His "I love budgets" comment and the reason behind it was refreshing.

That counter sounds really cool. It holds on to the memories of all the meals you cooked in it but in a visually appealing way

Most people think of color as one thing. But color is nothing without another color next to it. A color changes when it is next to a different color. ❤

It was a pleasure listening to David Netto speak. I enjoyed his sense of humor and he gave some very practical and inexpensive advice. My favorite was take some things away. And I’ve found that to be true. This video was very useful and easy to follow. Great editing also, I loved the fireplace scene as well.

I agree with a lot of the points raised with one, qualified exception. I love pale painted floors too, but taking away all rugs has two pitfalls: It makes the room less inviting and sterile, and if one has dogs that shed, no rug leaves the dust bunnies to float around the room. If you can bear dust-mopping two times daily, then fine-if that’s unrealistic for the way you live, get rugs.

Liking just for the fireplace over TV opinion! That's a neck breaker situation for me. Edit: Loved his perspective!
@bngr_bngr9 күн бұрын
They have articulating TV frames that you can pull down the TV to eye level. Then it easily pushes back when you are done.
@MTMF.london9 күн бұрын
@@bngr_bngr It's not just about what the high placement of TV would to your neck - it is the whole ruined aesthetic of it. A fireplace is usually the main focal point in the room and by placing the TV on top of it, it takes away the focus and creates a competing one.

Televisions have no place above a fireplace, in bedrooms, or bathrooms. There are many better ways to set up a viewing area in a house, condo, or apartment. Doubling down here. TV above the fireplace or in the bedroom or bathroom gives community clubhouse and hotel vibes. Totally acceptable if you're 16 or bedridden.
