Thanks for the great video. Exactly what I was searching for, great approach to demos also. I like how you just went through everything in a way I could visually see which one is playing and quickly get a good feel for what these can do.

Nice demo, I only have two out of the five but they are both awesome, I love the 4 Pockets Into the Abyss preset and the new Eventide ShimmerVerb default preset is very good on the Ravenscroft 275.

I‘ve a question.What is the difference between Blackhole and the Shimmer Reverb both from Eventide.

Trust Doug to demonstrate the 'ShimmerFX' presets that don't actually include any shimmer in the final roundup. The clue was in the name of the presets (Simple Reverb -> xxxxxxx) lol No worries though mate, at least I was in your top 5!

Got them all, love them all. If I ever get around to building a shimmerverb unit in NuRack, I’ll share it with you. I imagine it could be done fairly easily by combining a pitch shifter with a reverb. Not sure if there’s an envelope unit in NuRack, but if so, that could also be added at the start of the chain and controlled by the x-y pad to adjust attack for softening transients. Stick in an EQ as well for control of tone. Could be an interesting little project.

Can you imagine what Meddle would have sounded like if Pink Floyd had one of these?
@walrtbstudios54304 жыл бұрын
They all have their individual merits, but are all very similarly shimmery- as I own three it is hard to justify buying the other two. Especially as one of the three is Alteza- so extreme that is almost impossible to use anything other than the ‘init’! Btw, a tip I learned from JAde Wii- always put the reverb (or shimmer) last in the fx chain as otherwise it all gets very muddy. Wise words...

Today is the last day Eventide Shimmer is on sale. You don´t need it, but I know you want it. Buy it now or you will be sorry forever ;).

davidosolo Ah, what the hell, you were right. Will hate myself until I work it into something spacious...
@davidosolo4 жыл бұрын
@@walrtbstudios5430 Actually, I was just joking, but good to know your spaciousness will be without limits from now :). Anyway, it seems to me, you can never really go wrong with Eventide for iOS. (BTW: I bit the bullet myself, too and don´t regret it, so far.)

Eventide see,s to have the best movement and interface , my second fav is Alteza , much better value and seems to have the smoothest algo.

Bleass sounds the most natural, followed by Eventide.

All quite lovely sounds. And they all make me wonder whatever became of developer Christopher Rice? He gave us the OG iOS shimmery reverb w/Crystalline. These sound fantastic - we’re certainly not wanting, but “Holderness helped my vision to Crystallize.” 😊 Great demo!

Yeah. Crystalline is still great.

Is it me or do eventide effects always say: here I am? It is a really in your face sound and a bit less subtle but subtle is exactly what I am looking for in a reverb or shimmer effect....

Still like 4pockets best. Bu eventide sounds great as well.....
