Try this! Make sure nothing can run into the cylinder and spray a rust buster on top of the injector. Use the whole can if you must. Let set 12 hours and clean up all the spray. Use a LP torch or a welder to heat the area around the injector really hot!! Keep the injector as cool as possible. This should expand the block and give more clearance. You may want to do one at a time so they don’t cool off DO NOT TORCH THE RUST SPRAY! Most times heat will get something stuck loose!! Hope it works!!😊

I worked at a Land Rover dealership for some time and let me just say that representing the brand was quite difficult to say the least… Cars with ~10,000 miles were coming back with check lights and ticking noises. More so, we would fix cars and they would return shortly after with different problems!! If you ever look into buying a Land Rover, I would highly recommend looking into other options.

A little trick I’ve used on my Range Rover to get the injectors out is to remove fuel rail and whatever is attached to the injectors , pull the fuel pump fuse off leave the spark plugs in and crank the engine and let compression help you. A trick I learned while working on heavy equipment was... dry ice... Shrinks stuff beyond belief. Makes things bridal too so be careful but you should be able to pull them out very easily. Maybe with just a tug. That trick is so crazy I could put the hydraulic drive motors back together without a 15ton press. Yep, freeze em and they dropped right in then when the parts warmed back up the only way you are going to get them out is with a press. The pins for the booms? Dry Ice the pin and slips in or out like it is too small for the job. Caution, Don't touch with your bare hands. Good luck. GC

You would make life a lot easier for yourself Sam if you put the bonnet ( hood to you) in service mode! I think I would modify those stupidly short slide hammer and get the sliding part almost double the length and make a heavier hammer part then get an air hammer underneath the slide and hammer it out that way. Using the engine crane although it has been working is a recipe for breaking them.

I bought an old Range Rover years ago. The MOT tester refused to do a road brake test on it as he said that he was afraid the body would leave the chassis! I sold it as spares as the engine and transmission were fine.

It's just been changing out wear and tear items and the only failure we had was the rear tailgate motor failed. It wasn't a hard fix. I get that the RR has more of a luxurious feel but that means nothing if it's broken down or breaking down all of the time. I wouldn't hesitate to take our 14 year old GL out on a road trip, I wouldn't have that same confidence in a newer RR.

The way to remove those type of stuck injectors is soak the base of the injector with WD40. Keep spraying it towards the lower part of the injector.. If need be soak overnight. It will slowly drip down to the base of the injector to free it up. You'll know when it's free when you can turn the injector back and forth. But don't use too much force doing that. It will free up.

It’s a brave man that tackles ageing JLR products. They’re generally fine for Mr Executive who runs one for 5 years absolutely maximum but by the time the prices are one Mr Average can afford then trouble is on the horizon. Slide hammer removal looks absolutely garbage. Someone needs to design a pneumatic or hydraulic puller, not that you should have to be pulling these injectors at all. If it were an old MB diesel you wouldn’t have these issues. Different animal I appreciate but I do have to question some of the engineering and build quality on JLR products. Hi Sam, this might sound like a crazy idea, but would it help to hook up a coolant heater and crank it up to 90F?

The slide hammer needs more mass and slide travel to bulid up the force.

I would probably use a pulley system taking notice on d angle of the pull to prevent d injecTor from bending. Use weights to apply a constant pulling pressure while lubricating the injector

It seems to me the key to stuck things is pressure + impact. So the cherry picker + either a air hammer to vibrate things, or using that slide hammer to add some kick.

I'd be putting just a lil dab of white lithium grease around the sealing point of the injector when installing the new ones so they aren't so hard to remove the next time... 🤷‍♂️

My buddies range Rover autobiography has been nothing but an issue since day 1 I'm surprised he's still paying for it. I would've let the dealer have the POS back by now lol.

@@onebridge7231 I think he paid like $142k for it and it's just been in the shop over and over. I've been trying to talk him into a different SUV but he's brand loyal.

That's why some states have a strong NO-LEMON law; in my state the NO-LEMON lawyers get all their fees paid by the manufacturer and the entire purchase price paid back too! Saw a guy got a FULL REFUND had a HELLCAT with 27K miles!

@@tu_lei currently it's a misfire. Last time was the displays freezing and then going blank for days at a time, oil light was on a week into ownership, luckily that was a bad sensor. Tpms sensors fail weekly on it. The thing is an electrical nightmare lol
