Sincerely, the eighties were and will forever be the greatest musical era, believe it or not!!!

Sincerely, the eighties were one of the worst decades for music. Yes technology came to the party big time, but let us not forget it was all about style and no substance. Mtv destroyed music forever and it was apparently compulsory to have a singer who couldn't sing to save their lives (Le Bon, Boy George, Howard Jones, Thompson Twins, Depeche Mode, OMD, Frankie...... the list goes on). It was an awful time for music and musicality.

@@Tim091What constitutes musicality? Or substance for that matter?

@@Tim091 Well, ok, you're both right and wrong! Everything's a point of view and relative! Surely, you won't say the 80s were worse than what came later in the 90s and after because that's a disaster in your sense! ;-) Of course, from a pure musicianship's standpoint "they say" the 70s were best for the Genesis, Yes, Pink Floyd, King Crimson etc. but I'll tell you why I see the 80s being the best decade of all. First of all, we've gotta consider a certain musical style and I'm only talking about the mainstream/pop, event. pop-rock/hard-rock, NOT progressive/art rock. Having said so the 80s got quite a rich harmony, rich sound and production heavily relying on keyboards and a variety of sound effects which in turn all makes the whole thing somewhat richer and creates a deep atmosphere I'm missing with the mainstream music nowadays. I don't even consider vocals and lyrics as they're of a less priority to me. As I've said it's only my point of view and I mainly compare the 80s to what comes after...

@@Guarrdian1984It’s definitely relative. I grew up in the 80s and with a few exceptions, I hated the contemporary music I heard on the radio. I was always tuning into the oldies stations to listen to The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, and the Motown hits. And then you had Disco greats like Donna Summer, singer songwriters like Gordon Lightfoot, Elton John, Billy Joel… I was a teenager in the 90s and didn’t particularly like the music of the 90s either, although there were a few songs that I enjoyed. I spent the 90s listening to Jazz albums from the 1930s through the 1960s. It was only in the 2000s that I started going back and appreciating the music of the 80s and 90s. They’re still not my favorites, but they have grown on me. Especially the more stripped down songs that didn’t overdo the synthesizer parts.

@@rfichokeofdestiny I understand! Sounds to me you're not too much fond of the synthesizers! ;-)) To me they're one of the reasons as I've explained why I like the 80s that much - they make the sound richer and more variable than with just the 4-chord twangers of 90s and today. I'll tell ya I really hate the "straightforward" 4-chord based songs with just the guitar accompaniment, typically played by Rolling Stones, AC/DC or most of the today "artists"...

Your tx7 sounds like it has very low aliasing. I wonder why that is? ❤

I'm sorry its spellchecking for me.

My dx7 has some aliasing that I can hear. I'm thinking of putting a filter on it but I cant seem to find 9ne. Least not a small footpedal one that I can sit beside the dx7. I have it going through my bass amp so I can use the fx loop on the bass amp. 8 have 2 boss phaser pedals and 8 use the chorus and eq fr9m thhe bass amp but I think I still need a parametric eq to fix the aliasing. 👍
