Well, each car has a few locations where VIN codes can be, like the doors or the inside glove box. This might be part of the fleet of syntech vehicles but has had the VIN number by the windshield replaced so that the cars are all considered the "same" by someone who just glances at this VIN location

This is insane! Only thing I could think of is one of them has a spoofed vin number. Like car thieves try to cover up the vin with a different vin number already in the system of the same type of car so they can’t be easily traced as stolen maybe? You have a point! I do remember a conversation they had with John Doe. He said they hadn’t found everything known to be in the car. Though after they did find much more. So we don’t know if maybe something else was hidden in the interior like the tape was

Really great episode! If I remember correctly, it wasn’t long after the mountaineer was found last time that they had gotten the footage that they were being watched and recorded. Might want to keep an eye out around the studio for someone watching.

I personally would look in the glove box to see if there is any papers work that is stating that the mountaineer is matts or anything relating to Deb's death, syntec, or project 863 altogether. If you don't find anything, just look in the car itself and figure out something from there.
