So crazy! Awful you had to go through all that! I've never had decent wifi in any terminal I've been in, so after my 1st cruise I screenshot literally EVERYTHING! Ongoing tix too. 😂 I've also printed out a lot of things I never needed just in case my phone had issues. 🤣 Paranoid much? 😁
@FraserAtSea5 күн бұрын
Oh, you and I both now! I never thought I’d say the day where, as an early 30 year old traveller, I’d be printing everything, but I’ve learned it’s waaaaay less stressful to have it printed out! Thanks for being here, Tammy!!

Another great video you are so refreshing to watch and cover everything in all departments. Looking around her upper decks reminds me of when i worked for P&O in the early 70’s except our decks were in better condition. So glad I found your channel. Thanks Tony

The cat scratchers as you,call the, back when she was new they were shiny chrome instead of rope, and had sculptures on the top.

Oh, that’s so interesting! Did you cruise on this ship years ago? If so, would love to know what you think of how she looks now!
@Krypto642 күн бұрын
Gosh, you’ve had some ups and downs, thanks for sharing it. As regards that giant cat scratcher, I’m sure I was pointing out similar in a recent Virgin Cruises video? Or was I teasing Giles and Lisa?

Hey! You’re so welcome - thanks for following along and therefore coming with me! I don’t recall in a VV video actually, but you are speaking to someone with an often questionable memory 😂

Hi Fraser, what an interesting review. All the way through I was thinking that the ship interior and exterior paintwork would be useful for someone scouting for a 1950s film remake! It seems like a dichotomy between good food and entertainment provision, and the poor upkeep of essentials that a cruise customer would expect such as the unacceptable arrangements of the power sockets, and poor upkeep and hygiene of some of the public areas. Not to mention what could be seen in the very public toilet! Your videos are so refreshing and like no others which is why I like watching them so much!

Hi Hazel, I’m so happy to read that you enjoy my content - thanks so much for continuing to support my channel by watching! I smiled at the thought of the ship being used for a film set - that’s such a valid point - would be such a ‘stamp in time’ for a flashback movie! Thanks again for watching!!

If you read their documentation most cruise lines have a weight limit on individual items, 50lbs is common for US lines (Google for princess and Holland America as examples) for europe it's usually 20-23kg (e.g P&O,costa). It's basically covering them for the safe handing of heavy items for crew and dock workers. It's generally not that strictly enforced but it does exist in most cases if you look into it.
@FraserAtSea5 күн бұрын
Oh wow - I didn’t realise this! I’ve never ever seen it enforced at any port - I’d imagine there would be outrage if they started to police this, ha!

We live in Florida, so we have many choices of cruises. This year we have been on Sky Princess, Celebrity Reflection (twice), Allure of the Seas and MSC Seashore and MSC Seaside, Margaritaville Islander. This little ship is our favorite. We went to Taino Beach on Grand Bahamas and it was a slice of paradise. We don't even get off the ship in Nassau.
@cherifurr39355 күн бұрын
I never get off in Nassau!😂
@FraserAtSea5 күн бұрын
Hey, Richard! Thanks for watching! I’ve heard so many people say they stay onboard in Nassau, mostly due to the crowds in port! Sounds like you’re located in an amazing spot to jump on the ships - I’m super jealous!! Thanks a lot for watching!
@stevefl71753 күн бұрын
I'm only an hour from the port, so I've been on this ship a few times now (but I also cruise a lot on other lines). The dock in Grand Bahamas is their regular pier. The other is generally used by Carnival. However, if there is no other ship in port, they will use the "better" spot. Only some of the shops will be open then though, only if there are 2 ships in port will it all open. I'm with you on most of the ship items. The outside area looks quite a bit old and worn, but the rest of the ship is fine. I found the lounges in particular to be nice and spacious, and the crew overall does a great job. The shows are fun, and really all the staff seem to go along with having a good time. It's better then the awful ratings give, but not up to the standards of newer mainline cruise ships. But if you're looking for a fun getaway at a low price, it fits the bill nicely. Just don't go in expecting all the bells and whistles.
@FraserAtSea3 күн бұрын
I totally agree with you - if you want the bells and whistles go elsewhere. However, they do a really good job at doing what they are! Thanks a lot for watching!

I can't ever do a 2-day. First, I probably have to fly there. Then, I would only have begun to wind down before it was over.

Yeah, this is the biggest issue with it - no time to even unpack your bag, haha!

The first time I cruised in 2013, the customs official in NYC had never seen a British passport he was so confused by it that he walked off to show it to his supervisor. All I could think was I entered your country on that passport 3 days ago and border force had no issue 😆
@FraserAtSeaКүн бұрын
Ha, this is similar to what I thought standing at that desk - I’d entered the country using that passport, and had also spent WEEKS on other cruise ships just fine 😂 I actually disembarked another ship that morning using it at a port an hour down the road - so funny 😂

I was born in '68, no cruise ships my age still operating! I'm open to giving the Islander a try. Mind you the Islander's games room and library is nothing but empty shelves=go to a thrift store. get some books by the bag and fill those shelves! There is a bar here in Quebec City that sells board games called Randolph's, you can try before you buy the board games.

Ha, I think this is one of the few from my year of birth! I’d also like to try Islander - she seems so different to Paradise! Thanks for watching, John!

It's my understanding that on most cruise lines you can choose to carry your luggage onboard yourself, so long as it fits through the x-ray machines. Is that not an option with Margaritaville At Sea?
@FraserAtSea5 күн бұрын
Hello! 😊 I didn’t see anyone at all doing this, so would assume it was carry on bags only. If it had been an option, I’d have just taken my bag in myself to avoid it added stress, haha!
@stevefl71753 күн бұрын
Yes. In fact the you drop off your luggage inside the terminal after going through the x-ray machines. You can carry them on yourself if you would like to as well. For a 2-nt cruise, many are just bringing a smaller bag anyway
@cherifurr39355 күн бұрын
That’s terrible! They should have a record of you to match your passport. They always add taxes, port fees and gratuities in the US. You can have gratuities removed, but I wouldn’t! A luggage policy(???) Must be designed for local cruisers only. I had a Security person take everything out of my carry one at LHR in front of everyone for no reason & throw it aside. BA both flights, Bucharest to LHR, LHR to Edinburgh! Talk about embarrassing!
@FraserAtSea5 күн бұрын
Oh, that’s sounds SUPER annoying - sorry that happened to you! I agree that it seems pretty set up for local cruisers - the luggage policy is so annoying on that front 😂
