Bought my '04 SLT Plus in '08, have 175k on it and still looks, runs, and drives great.

Wow! that is like 15 years with the truck. When you get a dependable vehicle you may as well keep it because the next one might by all shiny and new but give you troubles.

@@variousvisfineart yes sir, I never let road salt sit on it and washed it after every snow. Always clean in summer. Used synthetic oil since 50k. Never an engine problem with the 4.7.

I had a lot of fun making this one. The still shot of the truck with apple trees in the background and then the background fades to green and blue was done with photoshop. I was just playing around with the that and then decided to put it into the video. I found the old commercial on the Internet.

Sweet little truck you got there. Ive always liked the 1st and 2nd gen Dakotas (the '05-'07 trucks just look weird to me but theyre solid trucks as well) and i like the looks of the '08+ but overall i prefer the '87-'04 Dakotas. One of my dream vehicles is a 1st or 2nd gen, extended cab short bed Dakota with the old 5.2 318 V8. These 4.7s are solid too despite all the hate they get (my uncle has an '06 Ram 4.7 with over 300k mi hes never had an issue) but i have an affinity for the old Mopar 318/360 V8s. Looks like youre a guy that knows how to take care of things so im sure you'll get many more miles and years out of this little truck. Cool video.

Thanks. The 318 was a good engine. During the winter i am not driving it much. I have a subaru forester for winter commuting.

I really like my 2003 Dakota too. It's the 3.9 V6, but is very reliable. Your horn sounds 'wimpy' because only the high note horn is working. Dakotas (at least 2001 - 2003) came stock with dual note horns. It's one of the features I like about mine. It sounds like a 'big boy' horn. Check just forward and to the left of the radiator, and you should see two horns mounted there. If they're both there, check the wiring.

I am glad you liked he video. I will check out the horn.

It sounds like one of your horns have stopped working mine is the same truck with the oem horn and it sounded good then it sounded like yours so I replaced it with one of the oem mopar horns and it sounds good again

Hey I live in Vermont and I have a 2003 dodge dakota same engine, same color, same everything! Almond pearl I thought it was gold. Mine came from my grandfather he's the orginal owner. I traded a 2016 Mazda 3 hatchback with around 100K. The truck has a little over 89K on it. I have had to do a lot of work to it and most likely will need to replace more. I got a Bluetooth FM Converter to help with the cell phone.

@@variousvisfineart Mine is the exactly the same just with the 5.9 instead of the 4.7. Gas milage with that thing is just gone and sadly so is the transmission...It just makes so much more torque than the transmission is rated at from factory which flew past me when I bought the thing. It does have 104-105k on it and other than the transmission I have no problems with it.

Got to love that V8 power...I have an 1984 Ford Mustang GT...only 32k miles T-tops,5 inch cowl induction hood, flow master exhaust and a Hertz shift kit with a 5 years old paint job all black....I love the fact its a manual transmission...I bought it from a older lady when I was 17 who had it sitting in her barn because it was her son's who didn't come back from Desert Storm...had it for 25 years and it looks immaculate ...going to be taking out of storage soon for a couple months and usually only put 500 miles on it a year.. I'll send u a picture
