My 2003 GLI suffered from a leaky sunroof that various dealers could fix. Made sure to get a GTI without a sunroof lol

I'm glad and not so glad that someone else has the windshield issue. My R is so so pitted. Very sparkly and will need to be replaced at some point. The GTI and R would benefit from those Nascar like windshield wraps.

The engine on my 2015 took a shit at 40k miles back in October of last year. I was pretty pissed since I was just driving casually and then clank, clank, clank -rod knock. Engine and turbo was replaced under warranty and cost VW just under $15k for the brand new, 2019 engine and newest revision turbo and shop labor. Just hit 50k last week. I'll be getting rid of it soon probably.

That little door that you said broke and was making a clicking noise is when you put in recirculation mode , same thing happened on my lexus is350 , I believe the little door is where your cabin filter is located in glove box. You didn't really need to keep your dial on heat mode you just had to click the re circulate button and it should go away lol.

Fun fact: I also bought a midnight metallic blue GTI in SLC, UT. Mine is a 2017 model. I bought it in March of 2017, brand new. When I was looking for a GTI, I knew I wanted a manual transmission. As I was looking through autotrader, KSL, and Cars.com, I saw this midnight metallic blue GTI and immediately fell in love with the color. The problem was that it was listed as a DSG. I was so bummed out!! So when I went shopping to look at a couple other 2017 GTI’s (a white one and a red one), I happened to be at the same dealership that the midnight metallic blue GTI was at. I told the salesman, man, I really want this car. He said then let’s gets it. I said, but it’s DSG and I want a manual. He asked if I just wanted to take a look at it. I said sure. So he pulled it up, and when he came out from the drivers seat, he had a huge smile on his face. I was like, what’s up? He said that it was indeed a manual! The dealership listed it wrong! I was sold on the spot! I found out it was the only midnight metallic blue 2017 GTI in the State, and that I was the first one to buy one in the State. Pretty freaking cool right! I bought mine brand new, with 7 miles on the odo, for only $23k.
@limitededition32782 жыл бұрын
I have same color 2018 also a manual first owner mine had 8 miles on odometer. 👍 I am glad I bought that color that year after that year they did not make it in that color any longer.

Hey Man nice car ! I just wanted to know, what lead you to the DSG instead of the manual ? I really can't decide myself lol...
@NewEnglandPete4 жыл бұрын
This question is one that I get alot! I definitely should make a video as to why I chose this. But in a quick sum-up, the DSG has the performance over the 6mt... even when it makes the car heavier. The DSG has been out since Mk5, and it just gets better and better. Rapid shifts, and launch control are must haves IMO!
@olympicllama56324 жыл бұрын
Christophe Couture also the with the APR tune, the dsg is able to withstand the power increase, unlike the manual where a clutch replacement is inevitable
@slayednpked14 жыл бұрын
Christophe Couture if you plan on doing a minor tune with a manual be ready to change the stock clutch out, they’re made of wet paper. With the price of a clutch upgrade and install vs the 1100$ for the dsg upgrade it just makes more sense
@cjc11934 жыл бұрын
Just don’t make your decision based on cost. Because odds are you’ll be upgrading the clutch down the line if you plan on doing anything to the car (maybe even if you leave it stock and just drive it hard) and that will negate the savings of the standard trans. I still went with the 6 speed though, because I like driving it more
@yoJuicy4 жыл бұрын
Get the manual. It is probably the last manual youll ever own! Manual is way more fun to drive and you have way more control. Who cares if its 0.5s slower off the line...

Not sure at that price range... but for around $680+ you can get a full Borla catback. Check ECSTuning for some custom axle-backs that they have.
@olympicllama56324 жыл бұрын
A muffler delete does a good job for these cars as well. You don’t get a raspy sound at all and if you partner it with an intake/blow off valve, you get some nice noises

No worries homie! So I am still running the same clutch-pack as I am DSG, however I did do the APR TCU tune to help hold down the power and increase clutch clamping power to maximize the performance of the high-torque APR stage 2 ECU.
@ThatWhiteGLI4 жыл бұрын
@@NewEnglandPete excellent 👌 thx. I'm reading up as I wanted to take my new manual GLI to stage 2, looks like I can do it with just APR downpipe alone and should be ok if I go with the low torque version. Gonna be wild going from 228 to 337hp!
