Sorry to hear that man, you'll bounce back soon. Part of game that we love unfortunately 🥴. My E34 is in the air right now as I'm rebuilding the entire exhaust, got tired of my leaks lol

Sometimes the head gasket will seal on non boost situations. It could be fine on normal driving but increased cylinder pressure with the boost could be too much.

That's what it seems like. It only has problems after ripping on it

When you do the gaskets, you should put on Toyota FIPG 103 as an rtv like additive. I've had a few E36 now and putting that on my head/valve cover gaskets has worked wonders for oil leaks. Learned the trick from M3nace. Good luck with your repairs.

I've been fighting over heating issues with my 95 m3 for like 2 months but finally have it under control. From what I've read about the e36 cooling system, if any air at all is getting into the seemingly closed system, coolant boils and evaporates which is what was happening to me. My radiator cap was loose one time and had a loose hose clamp as well cause overheating. Yours definitely sounds like head gasket from your symptoms but I would check all your hose clamps for the cooling system just to make sure. GL champ, head gasket ain't too bad on these. Like other people are suggesting, cut ring head gasket goes a long way on these things for stock internals.

I run a decompression plate and two victor reinz gaskets stacked, with stock head bolts. Lowers your compression to a safer level. Never had a issue.

I done a head gasket on my e46 in 2019 and now I’m at 265,000 extremely hard miles. It’s not a bad job but check everything while you’re in there. My e36 had a cracked cylinder head and I’m in the process of ls swapping it now because i got a engine for $400 and why not
@carloskarczewski13032 жыл бұрын
Sad :/ but clearly shows it happens to all of us! I know it’ll be up and running again in no time. I started watching your videos when I was looking for my m3 and your wrenching videos always help me get myself into the garage and make some progress! I’m just waiting on new exhaust hangers and once those come in this week I’ll be actually testing it on real roads finally! Setbacks are always part of the game! Time for rebuild

It took me 2 days to replace my headgasket on the m54b30. The best thing to clean any carbon deposits is thinners. It would usually fail in front by the main water jet going to the thermostat and cylinder 1. Put an oem mls head gasket with a paper thin layer of rtv on both the block and head for the gasket to sit on. When you put new coolant in the engine, look for a silicate organic acid based coolant. Best of luck.

I've got the cut ring it's worth it, if your gonna bend a rod your gonna bend it. I have a set of 133mm rods which are - 2mm from standard so you can run low compression they from k64 performance if you want them for cheap as I have now gone back to 135mm with forged pistons. Oh forgot to mention they are h beam

Factory head gasket isn't bad, cosmic racing gasket is probably more suitable but long term oem may be the way to go with that perspective, the head might be worth changing valve seals and head surfacing. Sweet e36 it's setup really nice

Dang bro that suck to hear the gasket popped. You got some good times out of and unopened engine. I would definitely park the car until its fixed. If you got white smoke that means its burning coolant and will mess up your wideband and o2 sensors. And the more damaged the gasket become the more likely coolant can end up at the to of your piston leading to a bent rod. Lastly you should avoid coolant in engine oil contamination. Coolant in oil is just all around a bad deal leaning to oil pump failure, rotation assembly failure and or turbos failure.
