Mephisto's conviction is -125, so you need 300% Light Res to get 75% or 310 for the 85% max LR that you should be able to get up to from the Resist Lightning passive. Fade proc gives 60 all res and 15% damage reduction. You cannot up set items. So death's belt is only going to be 2 rows of potions.

My smiter setup SSF atm is duress, grief (rolled a 40/390!), hoz with um, gface with 15 ias/28 light res jewel, perfect maras, dracs, bk, ravenfrost, gores, and a 30/15 dungos. I got 3 pcombs, a 15 all res/31 life gc, a 9/63/39 gc, and various all res/single res/and enough FHR scs to get the 86 breakpoint. Have yet to do my first offline ubers but got the key sets ready to go. Im level 80 so a bit under leveled but think I can do it still. Question is should I swap the pcombs for more res? Im sitting at 225 bonus but maxed out pre fade/conviction. Also I usually go dungos for the added life over string, and maras over highlords as I have the ias with the socketed gface/grief. Any suggestions or changes before I give it a whirl?

You're good to go. For meph you may want to swap out a pcomb with some light res. If you're getting fade from treachery, then you'll gain 60 all res which puts you at 285, but you'll want to be at 300. Here's the math: 300 - 100 (difficulty) - 125 (conviction aura) = 75. If you have light res maxed out you can get 310 for 85.

Guillames/Kira's, Smoke, Laying of Hands/Dracs, Black, 4 PDiamond Paladin Res shield, TGods, Gore/Goblin boots, Whatever Amulet, Ravenfrost, whatever ring, rest of inventory full of res/life charms of varying sizes and the difference between TTK on ubers is almost unnoticeable.

I usually run a Zealot/Smiter Hybrid to farm Bosses and Ubers. I find that Zeal is a very fast and reliable way to proc Life Tap then immediately switching to Smite when it does proc.

Taking the fire damage “striking” me for treachery’s fade proc and taking off hoz was because I thought shields would block the “striking” but it doesn’t. Thawing potions give 50 cold res and 10 max cold res for 30 secs and each time you drink 1 you get 30 more secs

this is very nice but, although i know Smite Purists would convict me lol pun intended but in all seriousness alot of people would advise against it. I have a suggestion that i always used on my Uber Smiter I would always put one point into Zeal, and if im not mistaken iive not made it to the end of ur video but im pretty sure your using a Grief PB So With lifetap procs as well as the mobs the way you were having to dump Pots to live, if you put one point in zeal pretty much one zeal is almost guaranteed a Lifetap proc, and hitting with zeal because it hits very fast with fanta will absolutely dump the life into your smiter and clear out those dangerous mobs or another way i liked to do is a Hammersmith as i like to call the build, but its basically just a Hammerdin with Certain Pieces for Smite such as dracs and Gores, raven frost and either a GG rare ring with life and mana leech or possibly angelics but i like using Maras or highlords or my personal Fav Seraph's Hymn because it adds +4 to your defensive auras and +2 all Skills and gg amount of AR towards demons and undead as well as enhanced Damage towards undead and demons. so basically that with just zeal man you would have literally ran through them and smashed without hardly using any potions at all.

Make sure you have plenty of light res for meph. Without Hoz or an all res shield, you might be lacking some resists, and GL!

I don't use bul-kathos anymore. Honestly a stat ring with res is probably best here. I'm just using a dwarf star for life, and mdr, which is much cheaper :)

Yeah man, I've done so many now that I've seen Meph chunk me for over 2k hp if i have 50 light res. So 75 will cut that number in half (down to 1k).

Think i may try throwing on smoke after i proc fade after work today to see where that puts me at. Playing on xbox is rough because if your solo on bnet you can't create a password game to get your stuff back and retry it. Also as someone with a ton of game knowledge, in your opinion I'm sitting on two jah runes and highest runeword is my grief, zero skiller charms for my bliz sorc or paly and no torches/annihilus; honestly trying to figure out what to do with them, trade for charms or trade one off for a ber to get my enigma, or go for infinity? ↑i know its outside of the scope of the video but really been racking my brain on it and unsure what a good move would be/the worth.

@@zeusdarkgod7727 Enigma. Best runeword in the game, and is best in slot for so many classes. If you struggle with getting enough light res you can use salvation vs meph, which will take a little longer, but you'll still survive. Also, you still want raven, but can trade out the other ring for a high light res ring (30 is max).

Yeah, you can do more damage with upped hoz. Tgodz is only useful for meph, so before you get to him, I'd suggest using something else. You want some DR for Lillith cuz she hits like a truck, so String of Ears or Dungos is preferable (if you find them of course).

Thawing and poison potions give 50 cold and poison res respectively. Also, an addition 10 max res to each as well. Each potion lasts 30secs and the time stacks, so drinking 7 thawing potions would give you 3.5mins of that 50 cold 10 max cold res buff.

I used an upgraded guardian with um, had 90 all resist (95 light). Never bothered with fade. Upgraded the HoZ as well. Rings were raven and I think a manald. For the most part the ubers was easier than I expected, but being my first time I went all leeory jenkins in tristram. Fight all 3 at the same time is NOT a good idea. Not just due to the damage but all the enemies they spawn, it was impossible to move or target anything.

Yeah, ubers are pretty easy when you understand how they work, but the summons are a pain, hence why pulling them around is important.

CoH isn't necessary. Treachery's fade proc will give you 60 all res and 15% dr. If you don't have cannot be frozen on a raven, then kiras is going to be a better option. For shields 4os 4 P diamond is completely fine if you don't have HoZ. 100% CB is ideal. If you have Grief then it'll be alot harder to get that.

kokomal is a pretty good replacement for hoz, but exile is boss. exile will let you use cb crafted gloves. guardian angel is a nice chest to use with a big resist sanctuary shield, especially if you want to go hybrid, use those light res points somewhere else

I’m more inclined now to leveling a pally from all the things I’m seeing! When leveling a pally I’m following different maxroll guides one has me going zeal and holy fire for the first 20 levels and then switching to blessed hammer and concentration or something until 75. What would you recommend? I would love a boss destroyer for sure. Main a blizz sorc and she’s a lot of fun, but it’d be nice to have a champion I can switch to

Yeah, that's solid for the leveling process.. You can get as high in levels as you want, but the highest lvl piece of gear in this build is the gloves: dracul's grasp L76. Smiter is not good at clearing out tons of monsters, but yeah he does a really good job at single target.

Quick question about running Ubers like you do: - It seems like the only weakness of the Smite Paladin is the mobs until you get to the Minibosses within the 3 portals (except Duriel who is right there) -> Therefore, would it be wise and efficient, if you have another high lvl char like a Sorc, to start a Passworded game, open the portals, find the Minibosses, clear the mobs, position them as you like, then Log out and Log in with your Paladin to finish them off? - Does the game allow for this? will you just lose your portals? What happens?

I loved back in the day with my smiter. Ran Ubers like nothing. Would run into the middle with salvation take meph then switch to Diablo and Baal. Cta definitely helps

@@jymnasium you are not wrong but when you are focusing on just bosses you should be able to lifetap consistently I used lw and dracs with shitty pally spirit and 5/6/1 cta on off hands. I actually started rebuilding him on resurrected but since it's a whole new fresh start jah is expensive. I still am in need of LW and a Chains of Honor, upping the Hoz I have, getting a COA with 2 bers, and getting a dungoes and a couple 11 res scs. Also upgrading to like 15str dracs and upping most the gear. Already have gore's but needs upgrade, and an Anni. Long way to go but just got him to 80. The lowest level I have accomplished Ubers was 68 and that's from the pulling method and stacked resist charms with a stormlash and reg Hoz umd. But its even possible with a 4 diamond 45 base high pally shield

Defense is like evasion% and in that calculation is your level vs monster level.. Ubers are lvl 110, so you're going to need a crazy amount of defense to make up for that level gap. It's easier to just get max block rate, res, and damage reduction% Defense does not provide any damage reduction% at all.

I need some help here, im using griswold set for my smitter. I cant decide what runes should i use for my 4 open socket redemption. Should i put x4 shael? Or x4 eth the weapon damage is verry low but i like the max resisist and boost to my deff using the set plus the cool aura glow. Im just a new guy to the game. Tia

For smiters, weapon damage doesn't matter, but the attack speed, and crushing blow do. Since smiters do not miss - lowering defense doesn't matter either (so shael is better). The problem with gris set is that you have very little crushing blow options: crafted gloves with 5-10% CB and goblin toe (25%) or gore rider (15%). There is 20% crushing blow from ber rune in a weapon, but that would be a huge waste. Crushing blow does most of your damage to these bosses: on players 1 it does 1/8 of the bosses' current health. These bosses have up to 660,000 hp.. I do not recommend using griswold's set for ubers.

@@TheLaubum I don't remember saying anything about taking more damage? It's just a 5% (1/20) chance of it proc'ing. So more hits and less damage is better. As far as taking the shield off: I'm not sure about D2R, but I think the shield can block the fire striking your character.

@@jymnasium You indeed did not say anything of the sort, i just assumed taking the shield off had to do with increasing damage taken. Stupid assumption of me. So the issue is that it may or may not be possible to actually block a fire hit. I've been standing in that fire for many games to proc fade and I never noticed a hit being blocked by the shield. If it were true then wouldn't you be blocking 75% of the fire hits and it would be extremely noticeable, no?

@@TheLaubum Yeah, my reasoning was that because something is "striking" you to proc the fade that the shield would be blocking, but I don't think that's the case. (For taking off the shield): Also, the defense stat is basically evasion % For example if you have high defense, then the monsters have a lower chance to hit you, but a big part of that formula includes your level vs the monster's level. So, defense is a bad defensive stat in D2 ;)

You can if you want. Smiter has multiple options for items, just be careful about your light res when coming up against meph.. You really do want 300+ light res in total (-100 for hell and -125 for meph's conviction leaves you with 75).

Great question. So it depends.. If you are doing tons of ubers cuz you have friends farming keys for you all the time, then Grief is better cuz you'll be able to down them faster.. but if you're farming keys on your own, then Engima. It's too powerful of an item in so many ways.

ya btw if you want a really really GG armor for smiter or zealer either/or get yourself an Upd Eth Shaftstop and ya you wont go wrong its very very nice, another really really good one is Eth upd Duriels Shell which no one ever thinks about using but if its eth and upd its so nasty... but that Shaftstop is awesome for that DMG reduction its 60 % dr so ya that by itself would work wonders but added with another even half way decent dr% piece would absolutely smash. i promise im not trying to give tips because i dont think you know what your talking about. I am only saying this stuff because me and one of my buds got extremely bored and he went and bought like an entire account of Keysets off jsp on Classic D2 LoD and we ran Ubers until we were blue in the face with every setup we could think of just to test out what we thought was best. after about 250 runs thats the armor i landed on for Top tier uber runs... if you find anything i said helpful at all what so ever, feel free to reach out brother id be more than happy to talk to you about any of the other gear we used for any of the uber setups i even had a Uber barb runner :D

So this gear is just what I had found in the first week of D2R with the help of my group. So as far as shaftstop goes it has 30% dr and 60 life (max dr in d2 is 50%). 250 runs is a good amount, but I've already done over 1,000 in D2R, let alone the 1000s of runs in LoD. And for duriel shell... that's an interesting budget armor piece for the CBF, if you don't have a raven..

It's the most common because you can do it with the least amount of gear, so there's tons of options of gear to use. Also you don't need attack rating for smite (it always hits, zeal does not). Most of your damage comes from crushing blow: (on players 1) it does 1/8 of the boss' current hp.

I do 50% DR with another -14 to damage: shaftstop, string of ears, almost all 40+ fire lightning cold res rock stopper, but every other item is the same. My only difference is I do lightning resistance aura when I face mephisto on top of that. Not a big deal since you pull him to the side and deal with him solo. I also have more life charms. All res are 80%+ except poison which I just substitute antidote potions before I face off against lilith. I don't have CTA and don't use a life tap wand I just chance it with 2 full slots of full rejuvs until it procs. No big deal since I take so little damage. Although I do have the life tap wand just in case I do need it some day with level 5 life tap charges of 99. Also I don't need torch. So I don't wear it so I can just pick it up conveniently at the end.

That is why the Smiter is so fun to me, there's so many items out there you can use on him for doing this. Your build sounds fine, although I'd wager that the 3 skills from torch give you the damage to make up for that time loss, especially now that I have an Enigma ;)

It’s weird to me people make a dedicated smiter for Ubers. Just slap a grief and a dracs onto a hammerdin, with a single point in fanat. Ezpz and you rarely if ever have to even touch a potion. Plus you can clear minions fast with hammers, and tele fast

No, you have to get to level 21 conviction to override meph's. If you get lightning resist you get a passive 10 (85) max res and if you use it, then you get 20 (95), which means he only does 5% damage compared to if you use conviction and have 75 max res, then he'll do 25% (that's 5x as much).

@@jymnasium I'm dead sure you already realize this, but for newer players reading this: A Hardcore version is in reality just a perfect guide for a budget Uber run and/or first time on a torch run. There are super budget guides on the web with crazy cheap items like 6 Shael'd Phase Blade, Iratha's Coil socketed with Ort Rune, Treachery + swap to Smoke, 4 P Diamond Pally Shield, etc etc. Knowing tricks like using 1pt Salvation against Mephisto rather than Fanatacism, only means that the fight takes slightly longer and is WAY safer. This is much like the argument over a full Smiter build vs a 1pt Smiter, or Grief vs tons of other weapon options. Crushing Blow is doing the majority of the kill speed, and if one actually times each kill you will realize, all you are shaving off timewise could be counted in seconds. Great video man, just wanted to pipe in with a pov from someone that has never found a Lo rune in all the years playing D2 going back as far as 1.08 days (I know there weren't Lo runes in 1.08, just fondly reminiscing all the many yrs), but have done many torches while also farming my own keys with Zealer/1pt Smiter. Some of the best advice isn't just for HC, it is also way less heartbreak for a newer player's first time trying Ubers.

As far as budget builds go, there's 100s of videos about that. I could copy paste 1 of those, but instead I just recommend items that are cheap and can replace the more expensive items I have. I get asked on stream about the gear I have when I help Llama, so I decided to make a YT vid about it :)

That was why I posted at all, because I am quite sure a Hardcore version of your video/guide might still possibly be 99% the same gear/methods you always use, which is very fair because you run torches a lot for Uber Service and speed is a much higher priority for you compared to others that might be trying first time or completely solo and self-found. Grief is the most powerful weapon by far. Black is the easiest and is very good vs bosses too, but CB (on players 1) does 1/8 of the bosses current HP, so as they get low on hp it takes a lot longer to finish off. Stormlash isn't that common.. b/c you could find Horizon's Tornado instead (both are Unique Scourges). But it's a very powerful weapon too.. I haven't found one, so I haven't been able to showcase it :(

Yes, it's a good tip for HC players, but on SC you just go fast. Only matters when running. So, it doesn't matter once you're smiting the boss.

guaridan angel instead of what you wear and you nn to drink pots. lvl 21 conviction against meph and you nn to stack res and waste time on fade. Later on you can use enigma with spirit/wizz spike on switch for organs and back to Gangel for ubers. Also since Grief has an ITD mod, u can put one point zeal and have much easier time against normal mobs.

I use my hammerdin for ubers. With Grief and level 9 fana i get max ias with 15% jewel in helm. Enigma armor for fast travel with CTA + spirit on swap. Goblin Toe over Gores + UMed random Zaka. Also dumped Treachery because i dont like gear swapping and prefer to use Salvation over trying to proc fade for Meph he dies super quick cause Grief is OP. Teleport is super good for Ubers cause i was getting headaches in Matron's Den because of Witches

Get a duel leech ring and use zeal for running portals and smite for duriel. Lifetap only needed for Lilith. Meph dies so fast with grief u only need two rejuvs

Not just fire res, there's a 5% chance to cast fade when struck on my chest (treachery). Level 15 Fade proc gives 60 all res and 15% damage reduction. So the fire "strikes" your character, which gives that 5% a chance to cast.
