Awesome room. Million dollar home theaters are nice and all but I'd rather see practical home theaters for normal people. Again, it's cool to see a home theater where money is no object but what am I supposed to get out of that besides jealousy? I'll never be able to afford 90% of the items most of those HTs feature. And even though the complete $40k price tag is out of reach for me but I can see myself getting a similar result for a much more reasonable $20k (if I cheap out on the custom bits, skip the Valencia seats, buy used components, etc)

I kinda of have the bests of both worlds with my other setup costing me around $140K all up - but this space is less money, less fancy but I built it the right way - made very targeted choices to give me the best bang for buck. I see a lot of people who don't know better spending too much money in one area and not another. My upstairs setup is very balanced and lean and gives me the exact performance I'm after. Hence why I do KZbin - I want to help as many people as I can for free!

I was gonna say, this isn't a million dollar home theater 😂. What are you expecting to see? Something next to the kitchen with heights mounted on the ceiling and cable runners? That's what I have. It's a great temporary solution, but my wife only allowed it because she wants me to eventually move it in the basement. I'm surprised I got this far. I didn't have the money for a lot of AV equipment for most of my life, but I eventually found ways of getting close. If you do it right, it'll raise the value of your home as well. There's another guy on KZbin who shops at thrift stores and buys that stuff. Old movie theater speakers, used projectors, and saving up to build a room or doing it yourself like my dad and friends have done. The room might cost $15K and be $100K of value.

@@Saturn2888 A lot of people say that having a "theatre room" doesn't really raise the market value of your home. Unless you know someone that is specifically looking for a house included with one. For most buyers it's actually a hindrance because that room will probably be used as a guest room or kids room or other various needs and will potentially put buyers off of picking a home with speakers in the ceiling or any other physical changes that might have been done.

Hi Tony. Very nice video. You have the same size room as I do, the only difference is, my room is 6.5 meters long and it’s a dedicated theatre room. I am re decorating and trying to sound proof it , and I’m upgrading from 7.2 surround to 7.2.4 Dolby Atmos, I checked out the A8A receiver, but because of the cost, WestCoast HiFi had a special, and the Onkyo TX-RZ70 is 11 channels powered, so I got it while the sale was on. I was using the Onkyo TX-NR708 THX certified. Your home theatre is very nice, it helps if you can get good discounts. thank you for sharing. Gary 😊

Wow. Stumbled across this vid, and gotta say.. mad respect for what you’ve done! Everything seems really well thought out and implemented! If I could snap my fingers, this is pretty much exactly what I’d like for my startup system when we move into a new rental house! 🎉. Never heard of Krix before but they look well made (the speakers remind me of Arendal drivers). Ps. It would be really awesome if you could go into more detail on exactly how you set each component up (for example, walk thru each speaker and it’s placement, how you were able to hook it up, why you did it that way, what kind of speaker wire and issues you had to deal with etc. prob take too long but def intrigued. 🎉 Pps. I’d love to see a super large infrasonic sub installed to your system! Like maybe a diy 21/24” gsg/SI ;) 🎉

Thanks for the msg. Yes, everything in this setup was very thoroughly mapped and planned out. Krix is an Australian brand - if you look on my channel page you will find lots of videos on them as well as my other setups. This room specifically was my "budget" room even though it still cost quite a bit, it was built to be practical but also perform better than average. I have done two prior videos to the reveal - I did link them in the cards of the video - you can check out the journey as I explain quite a few things but also changed a few things along the way too!

Given that you’re using 4 x Atmos Ceiling Speakers, is there a reason you didn’t purchase the IC-52 speakers instead enabling you to angle all four towards the main listening position? (Major struggles with getting good Atmos here!)
@BuildMontage
@BuildMontage 2 ай бұрын
I didn’t need to as I was able to position them correctly without compromise and the dispersion of the speaker is perfect so I get really good Atmos. I have 6 x ic52 in my main room as I had to put them slightly off axis - that’s really the only reason you would need to get those. In the case of this room I didn’t have to worry about that.

Thumb rule for home theatre get decent amp because they last for decades if you get good brand … Second thing don’t go for powerful heavy subwoofer very first time , if in future you decide to upgrade it’s easy to move them out and if it’s your forever home put nice speaker cables like audio quest and run good hdmi cables for the projector and also enough cables for 13 or 15 channel pre amp so that in future you are not doing it again if you are building your room from scratch . Always plan to put projector outside room so that screen would not shake from bass

@BuildMontage

I thought I explained why I can't and truthfully, you cant tell that it's not directly in line with your ears. The speakers are angled as such.. There would be no point in compromising on the viewing angle by having the chairs right up close to the screen just to have the side surrounds in the text book perfect position. That is why I made this video - to show people that perfect is the enemy of good and compromise for the greater good is the name of the game :)

Hey mate, they are the standard (ultimate luxury grand barcelona) which are already huge. @patrickmiller4987 honestly I don’t take the room seriously enough to worry too much about it. I have a minidsp which I took from my main setup as I have a Trinnov there now. All I know is the rumble and feeling I get in the chair is crazy good. Next time I crank open REW I’ll take a reading. I’m not sure why me saying that I have no bass issues in my room is a point of contention for you. Do u think I’m lying about how good the bass is? I have zero reason to and have been brutally honest about the shortcomings of my setups - I’ve made entire playlists on the topic. But this room sounds insanely good after all the calibration and tweaking.

@BuildMontage
@BuildMontage 4 ай бұрын
I guess my comment of no nulls was more descriptive of the experience than representative of a flat response on a chart. There is a tonne of rumble and tactile response in the seated position. 50-70hz is pretty punchy and I guess what I mean is I've experienced setups with subs where there is literally no rumble and no tactile in the seated position. My dedicated room was absolutely awful and I have four subs in there - but the Trinnov completely fixed everything in there, time align, impulse and phase - if I could have a Trinnov upstairs as well I would :)
