Very interesting board. I love the pursuit of making these pedalboards! Just finished my umpteenth one! Not as killuh as Dan's iteration here, but actually it came out pretty good. I've learned a few things this time around. 1. Most (90%) of 'programmable OD pedals suck' ....there is a reason analog old school OD's are still popular 2. I like the totally auto, push one button and your whole tone comes up, but usually knob tweaking is more musical 3. stereo does sound cool, especially real amps 4. ability to go mono is important also, as wall of sound with washed out drop D shit gets old 5. If you have one or two (stereo) really good tube amps, it is hard to get a crappy tone....reverse this for digital. 6. Midi programming can be addicive. I love the new Morningstar MC6PRO. Midi automation with an analog mix (real amps and regualr OD's) is my fav setup so far. Lastly, excellent video and again, pedalbuild by Dan.

I made a board like this a year ago... schmidt array, midi switcher, custom cabling... the whole deal. I ended up breaking it down 6 months later. There were a number of things I didn't end up liking about it: 1. I'm too much of a pedal swapper. I like to try new things and this format was too rigid. 2. It was insanely heavy which limited my use. 3. It was too complicated. I found myself spending too much time tweaking the board and not playing. 4. I like to play different guitars and amps and I find it hard to get presets that work with all of them. Now I use an acclam board which allows for easy swapping. I try not too have too many on it at once.
@Techo13293 жыл бұрын
I understand that perspective completely. As cool as Paul's setup is I'd be forever fidgeting with it. I'm 12 months into a small board built around a GT-1000 Core and I'm still constantly tweaking. Endless possibilities can be difficult to manage.

Fantastic! So great to be able to do everything on the fly, leaving the most room for creativity! Switchers and midi are such an amazing revelation. You should also try hooking it up to your computer and start sending midi messages with the gigrig to Ableton for looping! The ultimate handsfree looping device! Syncing tap tempos, trigging loops, recording, expression pedal to control filters/faders/tempos... like you said, only your imagination is the limit. Takes a little setting up, but it's worth it! Plus you can always keep that on a separate bank, leaving the triggering and recording buttons separate to all your effects. Anyway, congrats - sounds like so much fun!
