Also, it's mesmerizing to see your observations on Indian culture that is present within Mangalore. I am surprised & also this video made me self realise of how deep is Tulu culture. Thanks for such a wonderful video, maybe you should explore many other parts of India as they will have so many hidden values.

@@ramonmathais1477 Honestly speaking, Mangalore has accepted people from different places who migrated to Mangalore. Even though Mangalorean soil is Tuluva by its root and majority mangaloreans are Tuluvas, It has accepted the Malayalis from kerala, Kannadigas from south and north Karnataka, Tamils from Tamil Nadu, Konkanis from Goa and many more. To be frank, Mangalore is multicultural today is because, Tulu people never imposed any restrictions or force on people who migrated from elsewhere. Never pin point any community or people from any linguistic background. Tulunadu is in India not somewhere else. Hence all Indians are welcomed to our Tulu Land.

I hail from Mangalore and I was pleased to watch the video though there wasn’t much in it. There are very few Beggars in Mangalore which is something that’s rare compared to other cities . Most beggars are given shelter by privately run institutes for the destitute like white doves and Snehalaya to name a few. Some beggars just don’t agree to go to such institutes because they can make money by begging and there are labourers from some other cities who live by the road and beg to make easy money, too. If you plan to visit again, you should definitely get in touch with a mangalorean. Many are very welcoming and would take you around, too. (I definitely would) Mangalore is the most underrated city in India although it is beautiful and has so much to offer. Mangaloreans (born and raised in Mangalore) are welcoming, fun-loving, helpful, educated, and well-behaved . We do have a lot of outsiders residing here as well. Here is a lenglthy comment to give non-Mangaloreans some insight on places to visit. Mangalore/Mangaluru is a land of exquisite cultures, charms and cuisines. It is an educational hub and has many schools, engineering colleges, medical colleges, hospitals every kilometer ,restaurants, old tiled houses and sea-facing resorts. We have Hindus, Christians, Muslims, Sikhs, Jains and other religions in this small city celebrating festivals and preparing different cuisines on different occasions. You would come across a lot of beautiful temples, churches, mosques, and so on. As a Mangalorean who has lived in M’lore for more than 30 years and also travelled to different states, I know for a fact that Mangalore has extremely tasty food, albeit, we haven’t gained much popularity. Many aren’t even aware that there is a city called “Mangalore” and confuse it with Bangalore and we have been busy correcting people ever since! Mangalore is famous for its scrumptious breakfast, ice creams, seafood, toddy, non-veg dishes with homemade masalas especially crab ghee roast, chicken ghee roast, squid ghee roast, prawns & fish tawa/masala fry, chicken sukka, chicken fry/grill, pork chili, pork bafat, along with Neer dosa or boiled rice and yes, not to forget the delicious veg dishes, too. Now the famous question is what and where to eat??? Let us begin with breakfast. For typical Mangalorean breakfast, you may visit Shivbagh cafe (go upstairs to stay away from the chaos, new Taj Mahal cafe, Woodland, Chutney Pure Veg Restaurant, Hotel Janatha Deluxe, or ideal cafe to name a few. These are either small or congested restaurants that serve good breakfast. You can try buns, sheera, masala dosa, poori baaji here or something of your choice. For evening tea-time snacks, you can go to any of the aforementioned places again and try goli baje, banana podi, sweet potato podi, etc. For Continental & Italian cuisine/English breakfast, I reckon Diesel Cafe wouldn’t disappoint you. For toddy lovers, Kalivali The Toddy Lounge is the best place situated amidst the coconut trees. A beautiful village you wouldn’t want to miss. For lunch, you may visit Madhuvan's Village restaurant, Shetty lunch home, Maharaja, gajalee, cruise n dine, redrocks, etc. These are restaurants where you can enjoy the ambience and eat/chill for a while. or you can visit places like Machali, Narayana, Macchhi. These are small canteen-like restaurants where you enter, order, eat and leave immediately. Pretty crowded but we can’t resist the yummy seafood. :) I have heard many say that Narayana restaurant food is salty. Apparently, many order meals with fish fry and they end up eating the “crispy fish masala” given along with the fish fry on its own. That is a big NO!!!!!!! You need to mix your crisy fish fry masala with the boiled rice and relish the uniqueness of that masala. That’s how it is done! :) For desserts/ice creams, visit Pabbas , Natural ice creams, Ideals ice cream, Cherry square or Brick house to taste the famous ice cream called “Some like it hot”.( All these ice creams were started by Mangaloreans ) Brick house has some good Lasagna, Alfredo pasta and other dishes, too . For sweets/snacks - google the best rated bakeries. Vas bakery has good egg puffs and are famous in M’lore, Cochin bakery has famous Banana chips and many other crunchy snacks. The Stairway Bakery & Cafe has some yummy cakes. There are lots of places to visit. Google is your friend here. For pet friendly restaurant, you must visit K9Restro. If you love your beer and you are alcohol friendly or want a place to hang out with friends, you may visit ONYX Air Lounge & Kitchen (venue hosts dance nights with DJs), G Lounge, Spindrift, Froth on top , The Liquid lounge, Summer Sands Beach Resort , redrocks etc. If you are craving for some village vibes, visit river roost resort, the estate resort bar and restaurant, or Guthu House pilikula Heritage village. If you are famished and want to grab a quick bite late in the evening, you should try chicken shawarma and the grilled chicken from any of the small restaurants. You will find many across the streets. Best option is take-away or eat in the car. Middle eastern food with Mangalorean touch. You can try mixed-fried rice and biryanis, too. We have good chaat places as well. For a city that is extremely small, we definitely have a lot going on. If you didn’t know, we are affable and most of us speak multiple languages. Many know a minimum of 4 languages which are Tulu, Kannada,English, and Hindi. Konkani and Beary are other languages that are widely spoken in this city. We are very welcoming and our parents would gladly host lunch or dinner for any number of guests. We call it a Mangy thing! :)

A Little More Info: Mangalore is the only place where spirits the guardians of God's have a temple. And each family has their own spirit temple in their ancestral property. Same as yakshagan bhoota kola's are performed similar to what you showed regarding Koragajja. It's a land of warriors the Tuluva's. With the passage of Time the Malabaris found their place here. The protestants and Catholics came in here then the GSB's the Konkani speaking hindu community also came in here and today its home to every culture, the Temples here are very beautiful as u rightly mentioned. It also has Biggest Ice cream parlour the " IDEAL ICE CREAM" which no one misses once they visit Mangaluru, it was once called Chota Mumbai. After Mysore Dusshera it's the only place in Karnataka which celebrates Dusshera/ Dasara in such a large scale and it's a must see for all people. A City where most of it's people are well Educated.A Place which is modern yet has preserved its cultural heritage is a Hard find. Namma Kudla lives in the heart of Every Mangalorean. One more interesting fact is the Konkan Belt or Karavali Belt has people who speak Konkani which spans from Goa to Cochin in Kerala.
