Great tribute! About a momth ago i was talking to a guy i run into from time to time. Him and his sister both went to Sarasota High with Paul Ruebens. I believe he was a couple of years behind Paul Ruebens but his sister was in the same grade as Paul. A few years back the sister went through some medical issues and Paul sent flowers and get well cards and i believe called her. The brother said Paul Ruebens was one of the nicest most caring people he knew. I grew up in sarasota/ bradenton area and it was cool that Pee Wee was a local. Was in 5th grade when Pee Wees Big Adventure came out. Always watched Pee Wees playhouse every Saturday. Loved watching him! RIP Paul Ruebens! Long live Pee Wee!

Hi Micah. My son met Pee Wee several years ago and I told him if he gets to talk with him to tell him for me "Thank you for the laughs". He did and without skipping a beat he turned and asked someone for a piece of paper. On it he wrote," Hi Linda, sorry I didn't meet you". Yours, Pee Wee Herman. What a guy!

Your story of getting the opportunity to sit with Paul Reubens made me tear up, so lovely ❤ I, like many others, loved Peewees Playhouse and Peewees Big Adventure, I have the movie memorized word for word 😊 He made me laugh at a time that was very difficult for me during my parent’s divorce. He will always hold a special place in my heart 💜 I love seeing how people, including yourself, appreciate him as much as I do.

Man, my experience meeting him was also a great experience. We were deep in the meeting line at the con and he stuck around well after the con closed finish meeting everyone! I thanked him for sticking around and he even was friendly to my kid who had his foil ball to show him. It was just neat to see him go above and beyond for his fans even after finding out he was fighting cancer at the time.

I remember in the early 90s, then Disney/MGM Studios was going to open a Pee Wee Herman dark ride based on his big adventure until his unfortunate incident in Sarasota. That would of been cool to have that ride there! RlP Paul Pee Wee Herman Rubiens!😢

Awesome tribute!! The first time I saw Pee-wee Herman was the 1981 HBO Special The Pee-wee Herman Show, and it remains my favorite comedy special(just watched it last night).Hard to believe Captain Carl(Phil Hartman), Jambi(John Paragon) and Pee-Wee(Paul Reubens) are no longer with us.

Pee-Wee's Big Adventure actually came out before Pee-Wee's Playhouse. I just learned that Paul asked two friends about a director, and they both RECOMMENDED Tim Burton, one of which was Shelley Duvall. Tim only had done Frankenweenie at this point. After the first 30 seconds viewing it Paul was like, THIS IS THE GUY!!! The studio said they had tried to get Tim on several projects and he turned everything down. So they basically were like, heh GOOD LUCK BRO! Paul's agent sent over the script and quickly Tim agreed to direct. I LOVED Pee-Wee's Big Holiday too!

What a cool experience! I wish so much I'd have had a chance to meet Paul. Man I'd have loved to have hear a genuine Pee-Wee reaction simply about my look. I bet we'd have got on like a house on fire. Especially since I only just learned he too was obsessed with David Bowie! (I truly should've known he would be a huge fan too!) Someone who worked on Big Top Pee Wee worked on Halloween! I'm 42, and I've adored Pee-Wee/Paul since about 1985. I'm so so so sad, I never got to meet him. This was like having a zoom call with you. This is the first video of yours I have watched. Thanks for sharing your experience. Love set pieces like you like locations. I visited my daughter at her job with The Escape Game today and got to preview some of the first rooms of the 8 games they have are their location. The detail on these rooms is crazy. The only tv location I have gotten close to was Hawkins Laboratory (stranger things) in Atlanta and got kicked off the college campus its located on even though they weren't filming, because they still had trailers and i guess some production equipment on site.

Great story.... I too understand what it is like meeting a childhood hero... I am a big star trek fan and once I got to meet Sulu (George Takei) ... I too was given a little extra time than normal ... we talked about snow.... he had just left from snow and came to NOLA ... and he didn't believe that every so often it snowed in NOLA... Pee wee Herman was so great... I grew up with his TV show ... I had action figures and a whole pee wee house play set... I also had a pee wee scooter.... for a long time I liked anything pee wee... I too was sad to hear about his passing... you are so lucky you had your moment with him.... there will never be anyone like him.... At first, this guy comes off as a really obsessed weirdo. The pictures all over the wall is the first red flag. But because it's Paul Reubens, Pee Wee, I don't feel that way. Pee Wees show was great stuff, I watched it whenever I could. Big Adventure was also great. There's so many good lines from that film. The musical score, Danny Elfman, I heard the tail end of an interview with him on NPR just a month or two ago. Jan Hooks, the tour guide at the Alamo, nailed the character. The best thing she's ever done, in my opinion. Pee Wees breakfast making machine. His little dog he loved. Large Marge, Pee Wee blowing off his girlfriend, the Big Shoe dance, the big butt line when the boyfriend was listening inside the giant dinosaur. When he kick started the motorcycle and got the cheer from the bikers, then drove it through the sign, and the dummy they tossed...so perfectly fake. There are so many times when Pee Wee really cared about someone or something. He wasn't afraid to care. He loved living every minute of his life. He wasn't afraid to be himself or if he didn't like someone, he wasn't afraid to let them know. When he dressed like a woman and the cop asked him to step out of the car. That cop seemed like a real cop they just improvised. I was in stitches. Big Adventure is right up there with Joe Dirt and Idiocracy on my list of great fun movies in the last few years. I wish I could have met Paul to thank him, to tell him how much happiness he has brought me throughout the years. This guy here did what I wish I could have done but never did. Look at all the people who are coming forward to pay heartfelt tributes to Paul, to Pee Wee. Who else has garnered such an outpouring? R.I.P. Paul, Pee Wee. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Touching video. I first watched Big Holiday in response to Paul's passing a few days ago. I had already seen Big Adventure and Big Top years ago having been a child of the 80s.
