Yes, I agree. We come from a time where an insert was part of the set. No blue, red, green or black parallels. I started in 1975, and kept all my cards. The great thing is I kept every single card. Love them, learned from them, and enjoyed every one.

@@salvadorcamacho9151 Out of curiosity, how well preserved are the cards? I never bent nor scratched my cards but handled them a lot and it shows. And I still have them, but over the years have upgraded them when a new flea market box arrives with mint old cards - by old I mean 80s

I being the youngest of six, the only thing my older siblings wanted was the gum. I took very good care of my cards. In 1977 , I said to myself for every pack I buy, I will put one aside. One of my older sisters took me to a liquor store and to my surprise there were only two packs left. I ask the owner if I could have the box. He said “ yeah I guess, what ever. So I took and all wax packs I saved I put them in the box and I still have it today.

I own about 100k cards dating from the tobacco era that I inherited and started collecting in the early 50s and accumulated some great cards. I agree that grading took away from the “sport” of collecting. Ihave had a few graded but I did it to preserve them when handling. I graded a couple of mantle 52s and 53s but again for preserving them. Ilove my old tobacco cards but again I won’t have them graded.

My brother from another mother! Cool to see what ungraded vintage you have that you might send for grading! A couple of sweet Hank Aaron's and a sweet Stan The Man hiding in there, among other glorious vintage gems! Good or bad, grading has become almost necessary. A cards value is SO subjective....grading authenticates it and establishes a price for the next person to buy-it. I'm heavy into coin collecting. I NO LONGER buy ungraded coins...I got so burned early in my coin collecting days! If you could care less about reselling it, then yes, there will ALWAYS be a billion raw cards to choose from.

Soo can anyone tell me was is the RAREST pack of cards out there no matter what sport it is. What year of Wax Pack is truely the hardest to find in any market? I have only found one unopened pack in my entire life of 1957 Topps Basketball and that was 35 years ago when I was a young kid. Ok.I can never find an unopened pack of 1933 or 1935 Goudey Baseball. Can you guys think of any packs that are still out there that are most rarest that you can still find that are out there? There are still some 1952 Topps baseball out there but there's only a few of the 1954 or 1956 Topps. Soo what is the most rarest unopened packs out there that are available to still buy or to even find one pack of them on the market?I do know that some are in private collections and probably cost more than an arm and a leg to obtain.
