Was your van the pale yellow color originally? There might be some chemicals that will strip a layer or two of clear coat and paint, but it is probably best to just rough up the surface, mask things off, and paint it some interesting design. My friend did that (with professional painting help), and it turned out really great. I would look into asking friends and family to help you prep it for paint, and then get some help to paint if you aren't able to paint it all yourself.

Yeah I’m pretty sure it has always been the pale yellow, not as pale as the bleached parts, but I also assume it has oxidized over time, so who knows 🤷🏻‍♀️

It may take off a layer of oxidized paint and hopefully the "Krud" as well. One caution, though, you'll likely have to launder the buffing pads ( you'll need several).

If it were me, I'd focus on fixing each rusty spot - one at a time. Then you can primer over and put temporary rattle can paint over. It's already a mess so why not try to fix the rusty spots well? Maybe tackle the worst area first...decide if you want a shop to do it or if you want to learn a new skill. Once all the bad areas get fixed (may take a while) - then you can rattle can it or save up for a paint job or both.

Dang, just saw this. I am the one that said it could just be the Krud Kutter dried on, sorry to see that it looks like the paint is probably messed up! I should have mentioned to just try washing it off of a small area, the krud kutter has to be wet when you scrub/wash it off. Sorry that it didn't work!

yes my 4runner gets bugs bad u have the perfect truck to give it a acid wash paint job. brighten it up a little put your van on the moon paint job on it.
