Sir, I found your channel through Luke's comments on the Wan Show about your Tarkov content and was instantly hooked. And watching your videos since I'm really impressed by your honesty and integrity. In my opinion your channel will be a slow burner, rather than a run-of-the-mill mainstream party bus, and that's a good thing in the long run. It will take time for the people who will appreciate you and your content to trawl through all the crap and find you, that's all. I sincerely hope that you can keep the fires burning in the mean time.

My problem with those reaction videos is a huge percentage of them are from young inexperienced graduates - some of them have probably only just gotten into the profession (or maybe just finished their education and haven't even gotten a job in their industry yet) and they act like they know everything because they finished college or uni 6 months ago. Obviously some of them are actually experienced but I'd say at least half of them are pretty much just parroting what they learned last week...

it isn't twitch's problem. React content is legal under US Law, after Hoss v Klein specifically addressed commentary reactions on youtube. Twitch doesn't do anything about it because it's not illegal, a specific exception though could be towards Hasan, and if I were g0at or any other content creator...i would start doing a copyright claim on the video (not a strike, that is a great way to get the entire community up in arms, and turn yourself in to a massive target, it's a huge no no in terms of etiquette) Hasan isn't adding commentary, so he's virtually just reuploading content, at least if it gets put on youtube. Like G0at called out people like Asmongold, and Pyro are very clearly adding value to whats already there, both are very well known for it; and a number of amazing channels have singled Asmon and his community out for them helping them to blow up, like Platinum WoW, Josh Strife Hayes (this guy everyone needs to watch, he's amazing.) amongst others. He's only been in drama over it once(with someone named Talisen) who eventually just asked him not to react, so he doesn't. Pyro adds a significant amount of value by creating an intro to really sum up the discussion, and does a lot better on the posting it to youtube than anyone else, where asmon does the best in supporting the channel he's reacting to, by visually liking, subscribing, and spamming the link to the video in his chat so that everyone else can go over and support. XQC asking is a great touch I wish more creators did, even though they don't have to.

Asmond's the reason I found your channel and subscribed. It's incredible how much of an example can motivate others to do the same effort. Also, comparison sake: Asmondgold will def go to the bathroom during react content streams, but he'll always pause the video or the game. Hasan just getting up and leaving the video he already skipped ahead playing so he'd miss even more of the context and information was a total F-tier move and disrespectful. Even his chat was telling him "HE EXPLAINS IT" while he's trying to get engagement from his audience to fill in the gaps he himself created. Say what you want about Asmond's content farm, he usually lets the entire video play/let it cook because... that just fills in time for him to begin with, which is a total win regardless.

I think the matter isn't about how transformative the content is, but about whether the content is a market replacement or not. Even if the reactor talks about the video twice as much as the video duration, if they reproduce your entire video, they're making it so the people who watched it from them are not in the youtube algorithm for you and therefore directly making you lose
@properduction2586
@properduction2586 Жыл бұрын
1)You can not be transformative without following fair use first…Meaning that your reaction video can be 10 times as long as the original video,as long as you are showing your blank face in the corner and playing the original video unedited in its entirety you are not being transformative in any way shape or form… 2)The argument of “Well the reaction video is twice as long as the original video” is completely retarded…Why doesn’t the reactor just use the clips where they actually add commentary and not the whole video ? That’s why commentary channels don’t get in to fair use trouble as much as reactors… 3)Also just because you are fair use doesn’t mean that you are automatically transformative…You can use the clips where you add your own commentary but if your commentary is just repeating the exact same points as the original video then it’s not adding a new expression to the original video…

These "old" KZbinrs have amassed an audience from decades ago and have become something like a brand or a TV channel. You're a newcomer to the platform (relatively speaking in the eyes of the unknowing / algorithm), who put out a hit and made enormous waves in a giant videogame whose culture is synonymous with tryhards. You demonstrated an incongruence in that, the algorithm rewarded you; you made a thoughtful video about the American Healthcare system and it didn't do as well, so obviously everything feels a bit unfair. Here's the issue with KZbin, the Internet, and humanity in general: The lowest effort and convenient thing wins. I've written 50 page novellas on Reddit and got 8 upvotes. I've written a bean farts joke and it got 4,800 upvotes. It's not because the average Redditor is stupid, it's because of exposure and bandwagoning from a thread which got more eyeballs. Trying to surf the culture and please everyone is a recipe for insanity and disaster (see: PewDiePie/Jerma). You don't -actually- want to stoop to that level and only make beans fart jokes all day (as per my example). But: If you just keep making content like this, as EXHAUSTING, and demotivating as it is, eventually the eye of the Internet will settle its gaze back upon you - and likely not take it off. It's what's happened to Asmon, Markiplier, Linus, etc. They could make a video about watching paint dry on q wooden deck, and it would get 3.7 million views because of "subscribers" and well, familiarity. Don't give up -- Naz, Old Internet Sage

There should be a revenue share like the copyright system. 50/50 split (it's debatable and depends case by case, but that's a start) and whomever that has their content stolen can "strike" the reactor by linking their own video with the strike. Using the account which had the content stolen of course. Reactors should be encouraged to split revenue from the start by being sanctioned if they get a lot of approved strikes. Whomever abuses that system get their striking priveliges revoked.

I'd much prefer to watch the video myself, get the experience, then watch my favorite YTers react. It just makes sense for me to get my own opinions and mental 'juices' flowing before I see what others are thinking about it. At the very least it should be mandatory to tag the video. Have a little pop-up box that links to the video for anyone who wants to see the source while its on screen. Like the title cards you can place to promote your own older/upcoming videos. **Oh KZbin Gods hear my plea, help smaller creators who work hard**

I quite literally found your content cuz pyrocynical mentioned in the TBH podcast that you called his video the benchmark of react content. I think I'll stick around for the other stuff as well. The Tarkov video was great. Gotta admit I haven't seen any reaction video to it because personally I'm in the anti react content camp. But I didn't expect xqc to be the one to ask for permission first. Still dislike his content but I respect that he at least asks. I'm off to watch the rest of your stuff now. Cheers!

Wait, is reacting to the full video good? Doesn't that make your video obsolete? Let's be honest, Hasan didn't really care about the video or Tarkov, he just probably heard there was drama and went to check it. As opposed to the rest of the guys, he's also not a gamer so he was definitely using your video to kill some time, like you said. A bit disrespectful, but I thought the argument against react content is that the reaction makes the original obsolete, which was not the case there at all. Obviously, Pyro's is the best. It's fully edited and is good content. I like that he does that, but again, it does make the original kinda obsolete. This video and title feels a bit too inflamatory. Even against those you ended up rating high on the tier list.

I'm only subbed to you bc of a react. For a guy that has 12 videos, 20 shorts, and 13 live streams listed at the time of this comment, 112k is a lot of subs. That's very much not normal. I think people should at least give a heads up, but practically no one would have seen the wiggle, great job btw, if it wasn't pushed by bigger streamers. I think a heads up is warranted because a creator could capitalize off that timing if they knew that someone huge is about to showcase them. The youtube algorithm is a mean thing. Proper reacts only can help small content creators. I could see it cutting into bigger creators' profit, but in the end the video game companies realized streamers/creators are free advertising. It took nintendo way too long to smarten up, though. So that's what it boils down to. Free advertising. I've found some big creators through reacts. The people who have transitioned to reacts successfully essentially serve as curators for their viewers. They find channels that are not known that also have compelling content. There are a lot of successful youtube and twitch careers that wouldn't exist without reacts. This channel wouldn't be over 100k subs if not for 2 things. 1. You did good work. 2. Big creators advertised you through reacts. You got boosted, in a good way. I wonder how many times these big creators get offered money to react to someone's content. If I made a vid I was especially proud of, I would consider paying for reacts. I don't make vids as a hobby or in an attempt to earn a living though. Criticism of Hassan is warranted. Damn that's rude. On asmongold, he will actually play the full video including embedded ads.

If I was a content creator and spent a month of my life making a unique video. One that ended up being as big as this. I would take all the ad revenue from anyone who did react content on it without getting my permission. Pretty sure you can do that without copyright striking. It just seems so frustrating that these lazy multimillionaires can come in and just farm money off of all the hardwork you put in. It is gross.

The payout split sounds like a great idea. But instead of having youtube to figure out the % to split themself it should be on the original creators to decide how much they ask for. Because i dont think that YT's algorhytms are good enough for that. But the % should be based on how much effort went into the reaction. Like if someone just watches it and just says something from time to time then definitly more then 80% of the revenue should go to the original content creator, while full blown reactions that add lots of extra content should not give the original so much, maybe ~40%. But ultimately you the original maker should be able to say, yo they are reacting to my content, i want lets say 80% of the revenue but the channel reacting to it should be able to fight that claim. Thats my 2 cents

I agree that Hasan standing mid-content is super insulting as both a human being and Hasan enjoyer. He's not for everybody and when he babysits (I love that you called it that) or is (very clearly) disinterested in the content, I can't help but get annoyed and click off myself. That being said, he did not post this to his main channel on KZbin or at all. It's a VOD on Twitch that an army of KZbin channels poached. Not sure if you knew that or if you care, but I feel like it's different than how it's framed in this video. Of course, it's still shitty he has the VOD on Twitch, just felt that needed to be pointed out. Also very shocked Charlie did not ask, he said he would during the DarkViper BS. One good thing came out of this for me, I got a new great channel to watch and gotta say keep it up man.
