If you got this far, this is the SEO part of my description and probably will not be all that interesting to read. I am a skateboarder who has been skating for over 15 years and I have been back and forth on how obsessed I am with it. As I become an older skateboarder I definitely struggle with how much I should skate. I am a parent now and don't want to just skateboard every free moment I have instead of spending time with my child. But I still love skateboarding so I basically made this channel so I can still enjoy some parts of skateboarding with out the time commitment of actually going out and skating. Still love to skate. My favorite skater is Geng with Preduce skateboards but I love anything that is gnarly skateboarding. I think Nyjah Huston is one of the greatest skaters who has ever lived and I am a huge fan of his. I can get down with any skater though for the most part. I react to Thrasher Magazine videos, Nike SB, and any other skate brand inbetween. Thrasher just happens to post the most so I end up reacting to their skate parts a lot.

It's so hard to explain this dude's skating. On the one hand, he's doing harder tricks than a lot of pros are doing. The controversial part is that he doesn't have the classic skillset that pros have. Doesn't catch stuff. Doesn't do much grinds. Doesn't "look" like a pro when doing basic tricks. Lands off balance and loses lots of speed. His talent is undeniable though. It's like he's playing a different sport.

@@skatetheorist Also, I don’t know how many more times I have to remind people of this, but skating is not about how something looks or about what you feel, it’s about the level of difficulty of the trick being landed. It doesn’t matter how they are landing it, or how they are doing it, as long as they are using their feet and landing - not that it has to land to clean to be extremely difficult- but if we are talking about other people in the world being able to land a specific trick then obviously the one who landed the cleanest would be the best skater. I was the best skater in the world in True Skate for many years (the only realistic/physics based skate game on earth) and still the number two best skater in the world currently in the game, and I will let you know the skating community is the most delusional + arrogant/insecure community that I have ever been a part of, and they choose who their favorite skaters are based on arbitrary/corny reasons like who wears the nicest looking clothes or who makes them feel the best. A “steezy af omgawd” kickflip will NEVER be as hard as a sloppy triple flip, idc what your opinion or how you feel on the matter. Unlike what most casual skaters and so-called professional skaters would like you to believe, skating is not an art, skating is a mathematical equation, similar to a sport in the Olympics. It is something that is specifically measured and quantified for difficulty. It’s a sport, not an art. Just because you look cool doing something doesn’t mean it’s actually difficult to do and doesn’t give you any more brownie points to anybody who understands the sport and takes it extremely seriously and doesn’t care to fit in with these corny bullies/wannabes/casuals. Jeff D is OBJECTIVELY and irrefutably the best flat ground skater I’ve ever seen, if you can prove otherwise I’d love to see it. Otherwise, you know you’re being biased based on arbitrary measurements of “Steeze/style” which isn’t a measurement used in any sport except skating, unfortunately and sadly. The “judges” and the spectators are not the experts on skating. The experts are the actual people that are the best skaters in the world and are doing the hardest tricks and unfortunately they are usually never the ones judging or making opinions on this. A double flip> single flip, triple flip > double flip. It’s basic physics/logic/reasoning/truth. Any skater that thinks some super Steezy beautiful looking kick flip or double flip is more impressive than a quad flip or 720 flip is full of crap/liar.

These types of tricks basically force you to flip mob. That is what I think people are talking about if they say they don’t like his style. The thing is, skating is not a fashion show, it’s a sport that’s based on skill - when I watch a skater, I’m trying to find the best skaters in the world and admire the talent and efforts and skill put into their craft. I don’t care what they are wearing, how they are doing a trick, if they’re steezy or any of that. I care about who the best skaters in the world are, and how they are able to land these tricks. The skating community is toxic/immature/high school mentality, it’s a joke.
@ZxAMobile
@ZxAMobile Жыл бұрын
@@dangatang0 you couldn’t be any further from the truth. It takes an extreme amount of creativity to even come up with a way to land these type of tricks. It takes zero creativity to angle your body a certain way to look cool to make your trick look a lot harder than it actually is. Jeff can do any and all of that Steezy easy tricks that every other skater can do no other skater can do these type of tricks. Therefore, Jeff is the better skater. It is extremely easy and takes little to no talent to look Steezy. It takes an extreme amount of talent, and only a handful of people in the world can even do a couple of the tricks that he is able to do. Nothing “linear” about doing a quad flip, a single flip “steezy omg” trick is basic/linear af. The skate community is delusional.

It’s not the style of skating i would pick to watch but the guy has got mad talent. Does tricks down sets that a lot of skaters can’t even do on flat. Also fair play to him for sticking at it when he gets a ridiculous amount of unjustified hate. If people don’t like it, they shouldn’t watch it or comment negative things about it Edited to put in a disclaimer. I know a lot of tricks he does, he benefits from the airtime he gets from doing them down sets and they might arguably be easier to do them down a set. But that’s not the same with all of them and even the ones that might be easier with airtime, it still takes a ridiculous amount of skill to do them

Definitely a fair review of Jeff's skating (catches the board on, or too close to the ground, rarely spins his body, etc...), but let's not forget that we gave two of the sketchiest skaters Rodney Mullen and Tony Hawk a pass for their entire careers simply because they were so technically gifted and created more NBD's than other skaters on the planet combined.

It’s because the skating community is full of immature clowns that never grew out of high school. They view skating as a popularity and fashion contest, instead of a sport that requires skill, talent and dedication. People like other people that are like them, and most people are basic low effort type of people, so they gravitate towards those people, even the supposed professionals that are doing very easy tricks, people like them more because they can relate more to them.

Like a fakie bigspin or something, alot of people pivot the last quarter rotation when they do them on flat, what you wanna do to catch them is when you go to do the trick from fakie release the shuv as late as possible, what happens is it kinda spins up and meets ur feet and ur feet stop the rotation when you come around from the body varial

There is nothing lucky about what Jeff is doing. You can watch his lines. He is landing these NBD insane type of tricks back to back like they are nothing, perfectly clean as well. There is no argument against him other than just haters blindly hating him for no reason. When you are doing triple and quad flips, they are not going to look as “steezy” as a single flip, and that’s ok. Skating is a sport, and instead of people trying to evolve the sport and going big, they promote and idolize these basic kindergarten skaters that are doing single flips/danger tricks that ARE based on luck/risk of injury over calculation and execution, it’s a shame.

I don’t think you’re explaining your stance very well. Because I’m with you, I tend to laugh watching his tricks. I see the mad talent he has, but he doesn’t have any style and doesn’t understand the art of trick selection and lacks creativity. The reason triple flops or 540 shuvs are so “wack” is because both involve you kicking the board as hard as you can and trying to land. Like when you take the trucks off your board and do tricks on a trampoline. It seems like his mindset is increasing the rotations and revolutions of his board, when skating is all about thinking outside the box. Coming at an obstacle in a way you didn’t expect. Or incorporating a flip trick into a unique grind trick. The truth is, certain tricks “look” much better than others. Jeff tends to do the ones that don’t look good, and makes them look worse by double or triple flipping them.

Wrong wrong wrong wrong wrong skating is about doing the most difficult tricks and landing them. That’s it skating isn’t a fashion contest. It’s not a popularity contest. It’s not up to your opinion it’s up to the facts. There is nothing creative about chaining together basic kindergarten tricks that literally any 12-year-old can do with enough tries. You think it’s easy to land a perfectly clean quad kick flip down multiple sets? I would love for you to show me other skaters doing these tricks if it was so easy and in fact, actually, I would love to see you do any one of these tricks that he has done yeah, I’ll be waiting. Yeah, go try to do a quad flip and see how early you end up in the hospital and how that works out for you, this isn’t a video game.

@@ZxAMobile I thought that too in 7th grade. Skating is not about just “landing tricks”. How you do a trick is just as important than the trick
@ZxAMobile
@ZxAMobile Жыл бұрын
@@kevinandrewsphoto Wrong, I’m an actual pro skater in real life, you’re wrong. Skating isn’t a fashion contest, it’s a sport that requires skill and talent and nobody gives a crap what you think about how they did a trick, because you can’t do that trick - if you could do that trick with way better style, then you get a little bit extra brownie points, but it’s not the end all be all like you casuals think it is. Style is like 10% of a total score, trick difficulty/uniqueness in trick selection/landing clean is the rest. People are trashing on Jeff’s style, thinking that he’s landing the tricks in a sloppy way, but he’s actually landing them perfectly except he hast to use a particular style in order to even be able to land at those tricks in the first place if you are doing a quad flip or a 540 flip you are not going to have this Super Steezy looking style it’s just impossible, and even if you were to be able to do that, it’s only like 10% more impressive to people who actually dedicate their lives to skating and don’t just watch from the sidelines holding a bud light in their hand talking trash This is the only sport I can think of where people trash people on their style instead of what they produce with that style, the skating community is a joke. It’s mainly just high school mentality people who never grew up and still act like they are in high school they even dress like they are.

I don't really understand the criticism, maybe you prefer more clean tricks to hesh, but all of your criticisms seem to be that his tricks are too hard and crazy, you prefer less flips, less difficulty..seems strange to me, and I like 90s guys mainly..also you say you don't like spinning while spinning your board, but you want him to spin 360s..so he should spin 360s, but shouldn't flip that board while you're doing it? Lol

What is it about mob style that looks so bad? Does it just look because we are used to not seeing it so it is jarring when we do as in Jeff’s case? Or is it because there is something inherently less aesthetically pleasing?

Sometimes the most tech dudes have the worst style. Cole is a legend but his style is yuck for example. Idk though double and triple flips are really ugly. Maybe a homie needs to tell him? Go back get better style and then do the extra tech?

@@itmightgetdark i have seen improved style before. a lot of times it is overdone but it can be done if the flaws aren't that bad. it will never be amazing if it's bad but it can be improved. in general though i would say it's better to just own it and make yourself marketable in other ways. i don't think his skill set regardless of style would sell very many boards. maybe a small dedicated fan base but it's too niche. if he could skate big rails and was creative in some way maybe there would be a chance for him.

@@crab-cake any skater that treats skating like a fashion contest, is not a real skater and an amateur at best. Skating is about landing tricks - the more difficult, the better - and landing those tricks in a clean way; it’s not about how hard you stick your butt out, how “steezy” you think you look or any of that nonsense. This is why the skating community is the most toxic delusional community I have ever been a part of. This is why skating has not evolved as much as it should have evolved, because people keep promoting basic easy to do skating. As long as you look cool doing it, which is nonsense. Anyone can look cool, it’s close to impossible to land a perfectly clean quad flip like Jeff is doing. What Jeff is doing requires an extreme amount of skill and talent. The people you idolize I could teach a 12-year-old to skate like them. There is nothing impressive about them to me but of course to you guys it’s extremely impressive because you guys treat skating like a fashion runway show, because… You’re not good! Good skaters make you feel insecure about your own skating abilities.
