I adored The Picture of Dorian Grey! Can't wait to hear what you think :) These covers are all sooo gorgeous, I wish I could own a bunch of these editions but they are super expensive where I live :(

I'm a pretty eclectic reader, so it is always good to see different kinds of books in your videos. I'm especially interested in 'The Collector' and 'The Dumb House' because I really enjoy dark literary fiction -'Perfume: Story of a Murderer' was a book that I loved. However, I am also intrigued by that collection of Angela Carter and the 'Gormenghast' trilogy. I will have to add them all to my TBR pile, and check around for them in the near future.

Most of these sound pretty dark which is a good thing for me because all of these sound amazing, right up my alley. Also, these editions are gorgeous and I didnt know about them till now, which doesn't bode well for my wallet lol. Anyways definitely loving these edition videos, would love some more whenever you've got the time ♡♡♡

I have several red spine Vintage Faulkner novels that I love. I think Light in August is the best of their designs.

Lovely books! Scaramaouche sounds like so much fun. It sounds like it has a classic French comedy feel to it and I'm completely into that.

I really like these editions! I only have a handful of them, but I want to collect more :) I really wanted to read the Dumb House a while back, but then I didn't purchase it so I kind of forgot about it. Thank you for reminding me of it! It sounds really interesting and I will have to pick it up first chance I get!

Yes The Gormenghast Trilogy Trilogy is great and it's an easy read so I'm sure you will breeze through them. There was also a TV version made with Stephen Fry which I also enjoyed.

+Örn Leifsson oh that's really good to hear as I've been so intimated by it! Plus if i read it soon I can watch the series :D

Scaramouche is pronounced right in Queen''s Bohemian Rhapsody. Plus there was a movie years ago starring Stewart Grainger. Hope this helps.

Jean Bookishthoughts The cast is great. Edward Norton is in it who is one of my favorite actors and also Liev Schreiber and Naomi Watts (they actually met and started dating during filming and are now married).

Scaramouche is one of my favorite 1950s films and I'd be interested in reading the source material to see how it compares. The Painted Veil is absolutely heartbreaking but awesome, however I will say that the film does more justice to the female characters than Somerset does.
@JeansThoughts7 жыл бұрын
I had no idea there was a film, awesome, thanks for bringing it to my attention! I can image that, I like how more recent versions, adaptations of books can do that for underdeveloped female characters in classics.

I have the red spine of War and Peace and looking at it next to the red spine of The Handmaid's Tale is almost comical. It looks like a dictionary!

If you end up liking Dorian Gray I would recommend the confessions of Dorian Gray Big finish radio plays. Dorian Gray is "real" and a friend of Oscar Wilde and it follows his life and the episodes focus on specific years and events. It's really interesting and even though Dorian is a bad guy I still have so much sympathy for him...

I looked at the cover of The Gormenghast Trilogy (never heard of it before, sounds cool) and had to double take: Yes, the siluette of the city is Prague Castle. Whyyyy... ? :D Does that mean anything to the book or was it just a graphic choice? Can anyone who knows the book tell me? #PragueCitizenIntrigued :)
