I haven't slept in the tent for two days. It has rained so much, that the only way that I can get out there is to take my shoes off and wade through about 30 feet of six inch deep water. Then dry off my feet before getting in the tent, then putting my ice cold socks on. I've just been falling asleep in my chair, and in the water bet upstairs.

I know this is old video but the best use for the 2 man tent would be to house 2 500watt powerking ups batteries and built a frame above the tent for 2 100watt renagy solarpanel which makes enough power in 5hours to power a laptop/tablet, AC powered LED light bulb, charge drills/saws and my favorite is to power an electric blanket because some heaters work on a 500watt usp battery but only last one hour vs an electronic blanket that can last 8 hours if the extra battery is connected to the one you are using .

Neat idea using the hay with the tarp, will also make it warmer in the cold. If you see any new construction, could ask for scrap Tyvek house wrap to place under tent.

@SustenanceNCovering5 жыл бұрын
I will never use a mat under a tent again. No matter how many times I adjusted that tarp, it always seemed to trap and channel water right into the tent. But, other than leaks caused by the ground sheet, there were no leaks whatsoever. However you should never allow anything to touch the inside wall of a tent. It will cause water to soak through. That rule applies to ALL tents.
@bctruck9 жыл бұрын
I like the hay for comfort! I wouldnt have thought of that. Im afraid I would freakout from claustrophobia in that size of a tent. When I first started trucking ( early 80,s) It took me months before I could actually sleep in the sleeper without freaking out.
@SustenanceNCovering9 жыл бұрын
I have a friend that was in The Navy with me. He was telling me how much he loved sleeping in his sleeper. But of course after 16 years of sleeping in a Navy rack, it probably seemed roomy to him.
@bctruck9 жыл бұрын
Well as the years progressed,the sleepers got larger and larger to the point that my last truck before retiring had a sleeper that had a dinette table and refrigerator microwave. A far cry from the sleepers when I first started driving. Back then, you could lay flat on your back and the roof would be 2 feet away from your face and your arms would be touching each wall. It felt like being in a coffin.

@SustenanceNCovering6 жыл бұрын
That tent is called a Coleman Instant Tent 10 (with the optional rainfly) I slept in that tent for a year. I think that they still make something by that name, but it isn't the same. Different materials different pattern etc. But I got that tent at a salvage store for something like $25 and have seen many large well built tents for about that price at several salvage stores. I slept in that tent every night for about a year before a storm came and dropped about a 1 ton log on it. I was not inside at the time.
Thank YOU so much for answering my query, never expected a peep in return. Coleman!! You are so right, not only don't they make substantial things anymore they don't use quality products. So glad you weren't in it when the one ton log crushed it. Thanks for your suggestions for places to find tents like that. I just bought the Ozark tent, and I could not figure out the directions for the life of me, must have put it up and took it down 5 times at least, your video was basic, just what I needed.

The instructions say to open the zipper BEFORE assembling the tent and to open the zipper BEFORE taking the tent down... AND the instructions say to seal the seams before use for better weather protection... I read a review where the poster said the tent pole broke on first use! They are made of fiberglass. Not 7000 series aluminum. I'd like to know the density of the fabric and what water proofing if any the floor has...
@SustenanceNCovering7 жыл бұрын
This thing is what it is. A very cheap tent. All tents require sealing the seams, and I never do. I have been sleeping in a tent that has not been sealed without any problems for nearly a year. It would not be possible to fold this thing up with the door zipped up. The air wouldn't be able to get out of it, and it is really hard to get any tent folded up tight enough to go back into it's bag.
@SustenanceNCovering7 жыл бұрын
All tent poles break if you are not careful with them. By design they are all very lightweight, and not able to take any abuse whatsoever. Even accidently falling down against a tent can be an end of life event for a tent. Any Tent.

Thanks for the Vid. *smiles* LNT (leave no trace) people should stop reading now, it will just make you feel upset. Have you tried making an "Indian Mattress" to complement your organic mattress? I learned this trick in the West Texas ranch country. The land is privately owned and rules that apply on pubic land do not apply. The Indians taught the settlers to dish out the ground in the place where your hips are and again, but less, in the place where your shoulders are. The extra dirt is piled up under your head. If you have seen one of those mattress commercials where they show a cut mattress that shows the shape the mattress takes when your weight is on it...that is the shape you want. Natural organic materials like pine needles or DRY leaves can be used to do the same thing. It feels a lot more comfortable than flat ground. In the morning you can put the dirt back were is was and rearrange the duff over it. When you leave, it should look like you were never there.

I've got several hammocks, and I love them for about a half hour, but my back is so bad, that I can't handle much more than that. I have to be able to sit up and lay on my side, and lay on my back and sit up etc all night long. Another problem that I have is that I live in the swamp. I would rather spend all night getting rained on than getting bit by mosquitos. We get rain about 30 days a year, and we get mosquitos about 300 days a year. Tarps are good for rain, but bad for mosquitos.

Mateusz Loki I love sleeping outdoors in a tent. I don't imagine myself ever going back inside to sleep again, unless something happens that makes sleeping in a tent no longer appropriate. (sickness, climate change, etc)But this little backpackin' tent is for emergency use only. I have to get up at least once a night to walk around or pee, but it has been raining and getting warmer, which means that there is a constant cloud of about a thousand mosquitos outside of my tent waiting for me lately, which means that the only time that I can leave my tent is to return to my house, because the minute that I unzip the door, conditions become pretty much unbearable in the tent.Also my sleeping bag is exactly the same length and width of the tent. Since everything that is in contact with the sides of the tent gets wet when it rains, there is no way to keep my bag dry in a storm.
@mattwinchester9 жыл бұрын
It's a real struggle to stay comfortable in those tents huh? I don't know if Ive mentioned this before but I live in Atlanta, Georgia, the climate over here ain't so bad but it does have it's rough patches. As for those mosquitos I'd probably just hold it than have to deal with those things.

I am 200lbs so theoretically two people could fit in this tent if their combined weights are about 200lbs, but if you are an American man and an American woman over 30 years old, the chances of the two of you being small enough to fit would be very slim. A good way to determine if you could fit in this thing is to mark off a place on the floor, and time how long you can stay within that space. And try to keep in mind that the walls are really short and taper in as they go up. The short answer is No. Another way of putting it is "Absolutely Not"
