Nice video. I put the fly over the tent inside out, and spray the exposed side with waterproofing spray. Then I spray the tent floor, and up the sides as far as the bathtub goes. On tents like this you have to spray any area that isn't protected by the fly. Kiwi camp dry is what I use, it's designed for applications like this, but it's probably a little more expensive.

Thanks for the great info and time-saving edits. I'm going to use thinned Sil Net for seams, because I'm skeptical of water-based sealants. Summer storms in central U.S. are brutal.

Thank you for taking the time in making such a video. A lot of people starting camping buys budget tents, sometimes single layer ones, that doesn't hold the rain off well. As you mentioned in one of your comments, your experience was somehow positive, despite the fact you got a bit of water coming from the seams you could have applied more product. My question is, would all this application been successful enhancing the water resistant of your tent, would it be effective for only one wet event, or are the results long lasting?

Just used the tent last month after a year an half since adding the product. It still held up good during a two hour down pour. Just alittle water in one corner of the tent the next morning. I'm still happy with this budget tent.

Did it work? I have seam sealed an old tent with a mixture of 100% silicone caulk and cut it with odorless mineral spirits. I did the outside seams fairly heavily with a small paint brush. I applied it with a squirt bottle down the seam and spread it with the brush. This was an old silnylon tent.

Yes I did get to test the tent on my trip and it rained heavy one of the nights for 8 hours. I did get some water in an exposed corner of the tent because of the way I had set the tent up on uneven ground. But it wasn't much and I think it would have been a lot worse if I hadn't sealed the tent before the trip.

How did that Silicone/Mineral spirit work on a tent?? I've done it for cotton/canvas but never nylon/poly like these tents.
