I was climbing uphill on my 35xi when the large hose between the radiator and the engine exploded (water was gush-out everywhere). I had since replaced the hose and installed a new water pump for 1800. But now my fan is running full blast and my check engine light is on. Good-thing, My ac still work perfectly, as I will try to do the same test like on the video to make sure the water pump is not faulty. Ty for taking the time to post this video.

Did you figure out why it was blowing AFTER a new water pump?
@stanleytolle4166 жыл бұрын
Thanks for mentioning replacing the "Electronic Themostat". Yes it's high tech and expensive. I was telling a friend about this but could not convinced her. Well a few weeks after replacing a electric water pump the themostat died. Almost as much shop labor to replace the themostat stand alone as a water pump. Doing them both really about the same amount of time if the shop is being fare with you. Really about ten minutes once difference once the mechanic is in there. Dam thermostat is electronically controlled so it is expensive and prone to failure. Replacing it with a good one is a wise investment when doing a water pump.
@sarajanehaven7 жыл бұрын
Feelin' your pain. Mine went at the beginning of the summer without any warning. Was able to limp home after letting it cool with the hood open for about ten minutes and my hubby was able to install the new one. He's not a mechanic but has been fixing cars, trucks and vans for many many years. Hope your replacement goes smoothly.
@SimplyCarThings7 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yea it seems like it's definitely doable to replace yourself, but it's just a nuisance. Can't wait to get it back up and running tho!

Happened twice on mine. Once due to age, second time due to corrosion inside the plug terminal. Went with siemens VDO unit. 7 months later, all good.

It only has 57K miles too. I enjoy driving my car but these annoying issues makes me just get rid of it haha. MK7 did fix a lot of this issue.
@SimplyCarThings7 жыл бұрын
Yea man! The problem is the parts are just crap, crap plastic impellers and half the time the pumps are electric and the crap motor burns or dies out lol
@turk3sh7 жыл бұрын
They have metal impellers now but the common issue I see is the installation. But I also have the cam tensioner thing I have to fix lol.

I just wrapped up replacement on my N52, and on that car it wasn't too bad. I can't see it being much worse on the N54. Very tight quarters to work in, but there's obviously a lot of information on the process all over KZbin and forums. Good luck!

BMW-E90-HQ it happens man! Yea the cooling systems and components are pretty weak which is a shame, but it’s to be expected with these cars.
@stanleytolle4166 жыл бұрын
Funny the Chinese replacement had better plastic in it. That is what failed on my friend's car. It had official Dupont glass fiber reinforced resin. Only problem being the small hose outlet below the lower radiator hose was 3/4 mm to big. Had to take off the BMW plastic end and use two hose clamps to attach the hose. Kind of leery of using OE if the original plastic was so bad. 2006 BMW 325i.
