She had me hooked on her first audition. The way she came out and took over the audience with her awesome personality, I could tell by listening to her talk that whatever she was going to sing was going to be amazing. She made it more amazing!! She has a set of pipes like I have never heard.

This was her arrangement. She won not only because she can sing so great but because of her great character.
@paulbrutАй бұрын
It is not her arrangement, - I like her ,and she sings great, but is not an arranger or musician, - to my knowledge Syndie does not play an instrument, so it would have the arranger who works for the show, and he/she , did a great job.

I appreciate your thoughtful watch and analysis. I think that much of music is a matter of personal taste. For me, and I think maybe even millions of others, Sydnie's voice feels like magic. She has become in short order my favorite vocalist. I have watched and listened to her sing hundreds and hundreds of times now... literally every day for the last 6 months or so. And only very rarely in those listenings am I not moved to goosebumps and tears. So perhaps it's personal. I hope you'll give her other performances a listen. Her audition, which was covering "Tomorrow", is the most beautiful 10 minutes of television I think I have ever seen. And her finale of "Somewhere over the Rainbow" is just glorious, although she was pretty sick going into that one and she herself has said she won't watch it, and that she was sure she had lost as a result. She's an amazing talent, and I'm obsessed with her voice. Thanks for the react!

I fell for Sydnie Christmas about 15 seconds into her first appearance when she sang Tomorrow from the musical Annie. In some ways I think it is the best of her three appearances. Her ambition is the West End and her winnings are going toward professional voice training. She is sincere and talented and funny and beautiful and willing to work very hard. Her Grans are awesome. I wish her nothing but success. Go Sydnie!!

Thank you for your fascinating and detailed analysis of Sydnie’s vocal performance, Sir Hairless - one of the best I have heard. As far as I am aware, the vocal arrangement was originated by Sydnie herself, in collaboration with her BGT-assigned vocal coach. Sir, I realise that your principal remit here is vocal and musical analysis, and accordingly this is what you focussed upon. But to my mind there is so much more to this particular performance of Sydnie’s than stunning vocals; there is also her self-assured bearing, her commanding stage presence, and her physical expressivity with appropriately assertive gesturing and subtle but dramatic facial expressions. And although you seem not to have been particularly moved emotionally by Sydnie’s performance, its emotional impact was, for me, amongst its most powerful attributes. Please do analyse Sydnie’s BGT performances of Tomorrow (audition) and Over the Rainbow (grand final). And should you do so, please watch her audition from the moment she trips onto the stage, for it is in her preliminary exchanges with the judges that she displays so richly her fascinating and endearing personality.

Great analysis! I really enjoyed the parts with the piano. You were right about one major thing…there are a whole lot of great singers in the world who never get recognized. Sometimes all they need is one chance, but that doesn’t guarantee success. Think about all the singers who have won American Idol (after 22 years). How many of them are successfully working in the music industry? Meanwhile, Sydnie has already sung at David Foster’s 75th birthday celebration at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. She released an album that went to #1 on iTunes & she has a tour of the UK scheduled in February. I wholeheartedly agree with Alesha that this woman is going to be a superstar!
@reddragonready2 ай бұрын
She sure ought to be..in my observation the trick is to find the right songwriter. David Foster and the people he knows paying attention to her could really help her find that.
@lawrenceb52362 ай бұрын
As others have mentioned, this was her arrangement. Her audition song “ Tomorrow” was based on the arrangement that Marisha Wallace sang as a fundraiser during the Covid shutdown in 2020. And “Over The Rainbow” was the arrangement made by her idol, Loren Allred, who sang it in February on AGT Fantasy League. Your analysis was quite detailed and informative.

It was between her and a magician for the win. If you liked the stylistic choices..you will probably like her in general because this seems to be very much her style of singing. The original audition with "Tomorrow" also very clearly showcased this. Personally I think part of her charm as a singer is that she sings more like people used to sing pre the Whitney Era. She is more a Streisand type of singer. Telling a story rather than focussing on just vocaltechnically impressing the listener. Though she IS capable of the latter. Her dream is to be on the West End so it kind of figures her priority is with that storytelling. I would very much advice to check out that original audition

Holding back on commenting about your own personal opinion was cool because your objective was an analysis. For that, I'll tell your listeners, music like this is personal on the entertainment level. Sydnie planned this arrangement almost immediately after her golden buzzer. Her fascination with this song reflected parts of her journey to BGT. So, she made it personel to her and when she performed it most of us felt that and it became personal to us. She is a fantastic talent, music producer and humble, genuine person. Ok, im done.

I suspect that Simon and Bruno raised their hands after the second verse because they thought the song was over. They had no reason to expect more, given the slightly more tentative original audition, where Tomorrow was a song that Simon hated, where she had to gut through what for her was an extremely frightening appearance, given her low self-esteem and never before singing as herself. So My Way is really her first true audition, where judges assumed she had already given her best with Tomorrow. Surprise!

@SirHairless I don't know much about most of these. To me Sydnie is right up there with Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars. She has terrific range, power, and versatility . She's also authentic and sings from the heart. Her stage experience also helps her in her ability to convey the lyrics. Never a huge fan of Lady Gaga but she really showed a great amount of versatility in her duets with Tony Bennett. Aretha also had a great duet with him. I'm older than you so some of my top singers are Sammy Davis, Frank Sinatra, Edie Gorme, Dionne Warwick, Natalie Cole, Ella Fitzgerald, McCartney, Tony Bennett, the Four Tops....and others like Aretha,Celine Dion, Streisand, Julius LaRosa, Otis Redding, Stevie Wonder, Tom Jones, Elvis, Whitney Houston, Robert Plant, Freddy Murcury, and others from rock and pop.
